Firefox

>no about:config
Yes, yes there is.

>if you don't give a shit about privacy
With this condition you are probably right.

There's ungoogled-chromium

No, even if you care about privacy.
It's only browser that can have VAAPI patched in

>don't give a shit about privacy
Tell me your credit card number, ASAP.

Yeah, Google Chrome so you can get automatic updates on Windows.

this
but chromium is fine

Firefox 52.9 ESR

cringe

firefox because its more customizable

Why isn't Firefox using libplacebo?

because they care more about diversity than technology

fpbp

>if you don't give a shit about privacy?
What? Explain. I was under the impression that this would be the freeest and safest browser out there.

> Not just using wget and awk / grep to browse your favourite websites

It's like you're not even trying to avoid the botnet.

Chromium by default sends information to Google servers. (That's right Chromium)
That's why people recommend using either another browser or ungoogled-chromium.

Is this even real or just some conspiracy shit?

does firefox still have the memory leak issue?

>what's firewall

Never had mem leak issues

Protip: go to about:memory and click 'minimize memory usage' to release a bunch of cached shit.

Attached: mem.png (1950x312, 43K)

It's real you can use wireshark to check it out.

It's real, nigtard, it sends a bunch of system info and a list of your extensions to Google just for starting up the browser. That's why ungoogled-chromium requires you to manually download crx files or extension source code and install it by hand.

anybody here actually uses this shit?
do you fags get money and contribute to the development of this?

i dont see any other reason to get involved into it, there are simplier alternatives that can actually run on multiple OS.

>just do this hack to stop leaking memory
>just do this hack to stop getting botnetted by pocket
>just do this hack to stop Mozilla from randomly installing botnet in your browser
>ghacks.net/2018/09/21/mozilla-wants-to-estimate-firefoxs-telemetry-off-population/
>just wait until mozilla installs another botnet and you have to do another hack just to opt out of it, after you find out it exists a week later
Lmfao fuck off mozilla staff.

Opera

Chromium, and ungoogled chromium, run on every linux distro, windows, and mac, and chromium and Bromite are on android.
Kill yourself faggot, go back to your radical left wing backdoor infested aids browser.

Based
I also set the process content to 1 in preferences.

When did it have memory leak issues? When I close tabs it releases memory.

It's had them for years. Just earlier today I had it crawl from 2GB to 5GB of memory usage without opening any new tabs.

Weird, no issues here on arch, debian or xubuntu.

Browsing the Internet is like going out your house. You can't have any expectation of privacy.

>radical left wing backdoor infested aids browser.
... Chrome is written by google. Google is the fucking liberal aids headquarters

Firefox uses less memory than Chrome and actually release the memory when you close tabs. Never had a leak these past 5 years.

Stop bullying poor Internet Explorer

Attached: download_google_chrome.jpg (2000x1423, 192K)

haha, nice meme, Firefox is worse memory hog than Chromium

ultimately every browser is going to fuck you when it comes to privacy

chromium is the best unless you are autistic like me

I believe that Google isn't liberal itself, since they're a big company and are always under the media attention, they have to play by the rules which are left biased in the modern west.

Why the fuck does firefox take 3 times as long as chromium to open muh 4chins images on hover?

Vivaldi

Works fine for me

That's why we use forks that dont contribute any profits to the original companies, you inbred retard.
Mozilla called, you're late for your sensitivity training.

>1 tab of plain html

Maybe their backdoor telemetry extensions are using all your ram

You're forgetting the other 4 processes that firefox has.

3

That accounts for all process

>linux
>my browser only has one process!
Lmao your inner wintard is showing, Mozilla employee.
Wrong retard, there are a handful of processes at the bottom called "web content".
What happens when you kill them?
That's what I thought, faggot.

>click hamburger at the top of system monitor
>check "dependencies"
Oh shit where did all these processes come from?

Am I being trolled? Pretty sure system monitor accounts for all seperate processes and reports the combined total usage of the program.

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-10-21.png (584x1052, 110K)

USE THE FUCKING TICK BOX FOR DEPENDENT PROCESSES YOU RETARD. IT'S NOT FUCKING HARD.
Here, I'll fucking do it FOR you. This is vanilla Chromium vs vanilla Firefox, with 4 tabs open on very different websites. No flags. No extensions. Just pure browser.
Chromium: 244.4 with all subprocesses included.
Firefox: 381.6 with all subprocesses included.
Go ahead, you fucking moron. Kill all the "web content" processes. What happens to all your tabs in Firefox?
Stupid fucking niggers ruining this board.

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-10-21 14-28-46.png (1865x1034, 566K)

Oh my bad, the chromium mem usage fluctuated up to 245.1MiB for this screenshot. Oh damn.
Mozilla staff are on life support.

>Pretty sure system monitor accounts for all separate processes and reports the combined total usage
No it doesn't you dumb faggot, thats why the fucking sub-processes for both firefox and chromium weigh more than the fucking parent.

There is no tick box for my version of system monitor. That's literally all it shows. What's another program?

Well that's probably what you get for using a shitty distro. I am on Fedora Rawhide. I suggest upgrading from Ubuntu to something that isn't garbage.

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-10-21 14-51-22.png (1075x567, 107K)

Am I doing it right?

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-10-21.png (724x685, 77K)

No, needs more lube.

>being so dumb you think a program is the distro's fault
actual cringe, absolute state of chrome users

>he thinks different distros don't have different repos with separately maintained version trees.
You need to remove yourself from the gene pool.

Not upgrading the program for several years and only backporting "security" fixes? Yes, that is the distros fault. Or yours for using such a distro.

>Is there a single better browser
Yes, the Ungoogled version.

While I agree it is the best browser, he technically said if you don't care about privacy. The point of ungoogled-chromium is basically just privacy.

Absolutely fucking stupid. Use Waterfox.

Kind of, Alex is a retard who thought he knew what he was talking about. The main view in sys monitor does show the total usage.
Having the content process limit set to 1 reduces mem usage significantly like you have done.

Ungoogled Chromium feels lighter to me.

That fucker paywalled IE-chan. She is now a proprietary meme.

Absolute retard acting like you know what you're talking about and being wrong. You're the cancer.

The point was to compare the browsers with no extensions or flags. That's a setting in Firefox not in the system monitor, dipshit. Even with 1 tab open chromium still blows firefox out of the water.
Chromium has extensions to write unused tab memory to swap, doing effectively the same thing.
I'm sorry Mozilla doesn't pay you enough.

As you can see, even with 1 process limit he still had a total of 3 processes
>hurr but we're right anyways cause I believe hard enough!
Mozilla is for niggers.

You acted like a retarded sperg and were wrong about the mem usage reported. Don't act all high and mighty now.

>Don't give a shit about privacy
>Use Fedora

Are you mentally challenged?

Safari and Edge have better font rendering.

Using Nightly (Firefox) on Windows, and Firefox on Fedora though, aside from Safari on macOS.

Btw, all I did was lower process content and install ubo, smart https and cookie auto delete. I bet with other about:config tweaks and extensions I could get it lower. It's all pretty dumb though to argue over though.

I love the love put into this dumb shit, keeps me going i tell ya

I can do literally all of that in chromium, what's your point faggot? It proves literally nothing.

>faggot
I was away for a year. Is this still a thing? Why? I had hoped Jow Forums freed itself from being a the_Donald satellite by now.

The point is arguing over this is stupid when you can get similar results if you really want to. Either by built in features or extensions.

All you're doing is writing shit to swap instead, chromium has extensions for that, and writing and reading to swap doesn't improve performance unless you have limited RAM in your system. It's a retarded point to try and make.

Why do you think it's going to swap?

It's either going there or re downloading which is worse.
It doesn't go to magical invisible ram

Opera.Of all the Chromium based browsers it's literally the best, I can open 1300+ tabs easily without extensions crashing, unlike vanilla chromium.

Are you talking about lowering the process content or some extension?

Nope, it's only gotten worse while the NPCs on this sub have continued to regurgitate this shit. Frankly, it's embarrassing, as this used to be a somewhat decent board. Now it's just racism, sexism, and consumer technology. Not much actual tech. This thread is a good example.

And that's why it's the first time I've visited this in a year..

What is "actual tech" exactly? I see people bitch about this all the time but I dont see them making any quality posts themselves.

Considered harmful

52 ESR just died. I'll bother switching when it's old. And isn't Waterfox just the fork for Windows users back when Mozilla didn't offer official 64-bit Windows binaries?

What year is it?

I'm sure you know. Why?

qutebrowser

user, did you open a midget porn tab just for us to notice or is that what you're into?

Vivaldi?

>Chrome better than Chromium
kek

>Implying you would ever use Chromium over Chrome for anything but privacy reasons

Brave

hi pajeet

Pale Moon > Chromium > Firecock

Firefox if you give a shit about customization

did you see the good censor memo?
