Thought audiophiles were retarded, used some old mobo onboard audio for years

>thought audiophiles were retarded, used some old mobo onboard audio for years
>upgrade to a high end x470 board with the ALC1220 audio codec, which Jow Forums audiophiles said was newer and decent

Holy shit what the fuck? This sounds so much better. I thought audio codecs were a fucking meme. What the fuck is going on...

Audio codecs and a decent sound card aren't memes but $2000 speaker wires are.

>a thread died for this
I already responded to you but you’re hearing placebo my friend and that is all

I have the same audio codec and i dont notice better quality. All i feel is that my headphones got louder and slightly distorted.

You can define audiophile memes by overpriced where you cannot hear any difference. It's often the case if you have poor quality medias to start with; high quality must go all the way

what even is this. even if you have the best equipment for digital music that exists, it only sounds as good as the audio file, right? where do you even get them?

I like this guy, he is cool

>What the fuck is going on...
Post-purchase rationalization.

Is he still living in a winnabego?

The hell is that gif supposed to be?

>generic comparison between some "old" soundchip and a start of the art new one
>sounds better
>beeing actually suprised

Well, onboard sound chips don't mean bad sound quality. You just have to get a good one...

I haven't heard anything about him at all since his retirement video, though I haven't been looking.

>pc onboard audio
>audiophile
Yeah, I like to make fun of actual audiophiles too, but this has nothing to do with audiophiles, you're just an idiot.

It isn't anything near audiophile level it's just for people who don't enjoy eating shit
Now let me tell you that a 50€ asus xonar is even better and paired with a beyerdynamic dt 770/880/990 it will blow u from your feet

i bought a cheapass msi h81m p33.
audio is noticeably worse than my gigabutt 870 ud3 and ab350m ds3h.

it's not totally trash, but i do hear a little difference on my bookshelf speakers.

what the hell is wrong with that jew licker?

audiophiles were right

listen to some Sabrine Claudio if you want some nicely recorded audio

i get some rubber johnny vibes from it

You probably have some gimmicky """enhancement""" turned on

It appears to be a man in low lighting wearing a raw chicken mask pressing his face against glass for shock value. Welcome to the internet. Give it about 5 years and nothing surprises you anymore.

Xiaomi Mi Sound Enhancer is the only thing I bought this fucking chinkshit (Redmi 4A). The sound is so much better with this piece of software.

it's just your placebo talking, what you need is a good sounding headphone and good recordings

Nah, man, you don't get it. You should just try this shit. It's awesome.
Well, maybe it's good with shitty earplugs only... Who knows? I don't have much money.

yeah i know there are some nice soundgoodizer algorythms to fix bad mastering out there and improve bass quantity on shit headphones like maxxaudio or dirac hd but nothing compares to a good recording with a nicely tuned stereo headphone.

most headphones are shitty, i wouldn't bother to look at over-ear headphones below 300€ in case you ever want to get something more serious. planar magnetic headphones are considerably the best thing to ever happen imo if you want to listen to song in an entirely different way. next step would be STAX but these are even pricier but still considered best bang for the buck.

in case you want to try an almost perfectly tuned in-ear monitor for cheap, get some galaxy s8 or s9 akg iem's which are sold individually on craigstlist/ebay.

they are the best you can get right now for cheap, trust me user

basically these, they all look the same.

Looks good, gonna try it. Thanks a lot!

report back in case we ever meet again, i'm basically joining the /ag/ threads mainly and everything audio related

Deal.

Jesus Christ how underage are you fags?

Rubber Johnny by Chris Cunningham and Aphex Twin.

Your mobo probably has better amp than the previous one too. The older and cheaper motherboards have cheaper sound chips, so they have trouble driving high impedance headphones.

Not either of them, but I'm in my 30s and don't remember that. I also listen to some Aphex Twin now and again.

People just miss stuff, it isn't always because they are underage. There is so much shit made now it's impossible to catch it all, even popular things.

>ears are beyond fucked thanks to life in a loud third world shithole with family that used extremely loud speakers all the time while I tried to listen to earbuds
I won't ever enjoy what you guys can, so feel proud.

So what is the best bitrate for songs? I'm trying to hear the difference and so far I don't hear any. Any songs you recommend me to listen as well to test this?

Help /hpg/ bros

Congratulations. You somehow failed to realize that your old onboard audio had severe defects. Most onboard shit these days is good (enough).

You get to a point of diminishing returns on audiophile shit.

That 100,000 dollar unobtanium not for mere mortals set ups only sound marginally better then a set up that costs 1,000 bucks. And that 1,000 dollar set up is marginally better then the 200 dollar set up.

>ears fucked from being an edgy teen with loud earphones and going to metal concerts without earplugs
I yell at every zoomer I see making the same mistakes I did.

The sounds are so sharp and sybillant that listening to them is painful.
