So this is a follow up post to one about getting locked out of my computer. Basically I factory reset my school computer (as did most people) to get all the draconian firewalls off of it, it was fine for a while, but I recently got locked out with a message saying "Illegal domain detected". I managed to factory reset it again so I'm no longer getting the white screen and have no data on it. I think I'll turn it in now because if I do it voluntarily and without a message telling me to it will make it look like I didn't want it to be reset. The problem is what my excuse can be. What's an excuse for factory resetting your comouter? What can I blame my computer being reset on? How can I claim I did it accidentally? I just need to make it seem like it wasn't my fault and I wasn't directly violating their policy. My only other option is to act like I'm rarted and don't even understand what a computer is and just generally act like a fucking idiot who doesn't know what's going on. My friend got an ISS after admitting he reset the computer (after getting the error message) and this would really fuck me for college, so I need to figure out how to get away with this.

I knew how to reset it and I've gotten rid of the error message, this is asking about what I do now that I've gotten past that because I'll eventually get the error message again.

U might be better off just spilling soda on it but only after u find a computer repair shop that'll help. Have the guy sign a receipt that says factory reset or something maybe he can find a better excuse.
Windows starts doing automatic repairs if it fails to boot a number of times. Those repairs range from filesystem checks to full system restores.
Just say the thing ran out of battery while booting and the next time you turned it on it started doing a system restore by itself.

ISS is somewhat worse on record because it could be interpreted a lot of ways. OSS is suspension.

I, as well as everyone else, in the tech parts of my upper secondary reset their computers, the school then had us return them for another upshittening, after which most people just reset them again.

I don't really get it, why would there be some hard rule against doing a reset on a computer they've lent you?
Also, you could make up some cute story, like "there was a problem with it and I asked a friend who's a IT technician to look at it and he fixed it by doing a reset without asking me since he assumed that would be alright"
On a more general note, you should probably get your own laptop and keep the school machine strictly for school use. Also, I'd put a sticker over the webcam on that school machine, you never know. It's more likely than not that they take snapshots with it at regular intervals when they are insane control-freaks who have a rule against doing a factory reset.
