Software developers in Toronto make more than software developers in the Bay Area because the cost of living is so much lower. This makes me want to kill myself so bad for failing CS in Canada, where tuition is dirt cheap. I am a piece of shit born into the 2nd best country in the world (after Switzerland). I can't fucking code, even though I've used computers all my life, because I can't think algorithmically, because I'm fucking stupid. Print the numbers from 1 to 100 that are divisible by 5 but not 3? Forget it. I will just fuck it up and end up copying and pasting something from Google search like a fucking pajeet. I am subhuman garbage. Even Terry fucking Davis could outcode me.
It doesn't matter anyway, WW3 is nearly here and Skynet will come online soon.
Hudson Edwards
Terry Davis was actually a brilliant programmer. Your issue isn't programming, it's that you idolize programming like an autistic faggot.
Brody Hernandez
I idolize money. I don't give a fuck about programming.
Xavier Hughes
>canada second best country Calm down syrup breath
Ian Gutierrez
10 years and ai is coding everything, even you
Nathan Brown
I'm here for you user, in 3rd year at a university and still in basic data structure course. Had to retake it to declare my major, which I haven't done yet. I'm pretty far behind compared to most people here at the school, but I ain't gonna let my faults slow me down.
5'6" manlet by the way.
Henry Scott
Just quit. No one will hire you anyway. Become a plumber like me.
Caleb Ortiz

Charles Butler
as a chemical engineer I use open source software like OpenFOAM, I understand the maths behind it but could not write a plugin for it.
Lol I live in Toronto trust me bro the job market is so fiercly competitive
Your easily replaceable, even if you get a job there's another dozen guys outside the door willing to work harder than you
Took me a year to find a job but that being said if you actually have an interest in spending 90% of your waking life in front of a computer it ain't so bad, problem is they pretend that normies have the capacity to give up a part of themselves to become a programmer, like I mean really a part of themselves
Xavier Bennett
Your problem lies there. There are plenty of other jobs that give large sums of money. Web devs make a shit load of cash for steaming piles of shit.
Josiah Rivera
I'd take $200k cad and $2500 rent over $100k cad and $1800 rent any day. You pocket more money in California guaranteed
Landon Morales
No you don't. That's the whole point of this thread.
Kevin Williams
>Even Terry fucking Davis could outcode me are you retarded? is this bait?
Julian Garcia
I'm saying it's wrong. You've never lived in Toronto. Nothing is cheap there. You can have a 2 hour commute and your cost of living does not differ from someone who lives beside the office. Chicken is twice the cost of US chicken. Cheese and dairy are expensive. Eating out costs you $14 downtown. It costs $1800 to rent an apt downtown. Average salary @90-100k I can't see how you could possibly spend over 100k more living in San Francisco
Kayden Martin
I read that for 2500 a month you could split an apartment with somebody in the bay area
Why do people choose to congregate there? A computer works anywhere around the world wtf?
Hudson Moore
There are software devs working in Toronto for $60k. That's like $40k American. The talent in Toronto is good and they get paid shit wages to live in a half city that doesn't even have a train to the airport. What a fucking joke of a city
Matthew Sullivan
I'm a programmer and I still hate myself, don't fall for the meme
Logan Bennett
I know a guy living alone in a church for $1100 a month downtown SF. He can't eat meat but it's cheap. Another guy paid $2400 to have a bachelor pad next to the Airbnb office. You have to be retarded to pay $2500 a month to split a room.. or have ridiculous standards
Grayson Gonzalez
? There's a train going from central station to YYZ At least there was in June when I visited last time..
Juan Flores
>I will just fuck it up and end up copying and pasting something from Google search Isn’t that what every developer does?
Hunter Collins
There wasn't one 4 years ago maybe they finally caught up to the rest of the world from 30+ years ago. I hear Toronto still uses tokens on their subway
Angel Russell
>I hear Toronto still uses tokens on their subway Still a thing. I find it quite whimsical. In London they have RFID/NFC cards, and the checkpoints also accept credit cards with NFC. Vienna doesn't even have a system, they have people incognito checking tram/subwas every now and then. But then, everyone in Vienna gets the annual pass anyway because it's dirt cheap.
Leo Baker
Hong Kong has had this in place for 25+ years. Toronto thinks they can catch up by GOING SLOWER than the rest of the world (last I heard they were proud of the fact that they implemented credit card TOKEN purchases. LOL)
Brody Sanders
>tfw no automatic skill giving machine that automatically let's me know every coding language and makes me know how to make 3d models and music

TERRY DAVIS COULD OUTCODE 2/3 OF SILICON VALLEY
IF YOU ARENT AT LEAST 6 FOOT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY JUST KYS URSELF ALREADY
Now that you mention it, yeah Vienna is ass backwards
t. Austrian occasionally communting to vienna
>tfw Austria will forever be small ass backwards country resting on laurels from 100-200y ago >tfw it's all gonna crumble due to aging population and unskilled immigrants flooding in
Brayden Robinson
and here in budapest people are fucking raving about vienna and your schwarzeniggers, how tolerant
Oliver Bailey
>>tfw Europe will forever be small ass backwards region resting on laurels from 100-200y ago >>tfw it's all gonna crumble due to aging population and unskilled immigrants flooding in fixed
Christopher Martinez
wait, isn't Budapest a beautiful city? here in Cluj people only say good things about it
Jaxson Howard
nothing beautiful or good about it still better and whiter than vienna though
Joseph Williams
I mean after years of failure, I can fizzbuzz, easy, but I'm still at a point where I feel a ton of people just cant be good coders.
Parker Bennett
I as a Pajeet coder earn more cash than I need.
Austin Sullivan
>Even Terry Davis could outcode me. Terry can outcode 99.99% of Jow Forums.
Josiah Flores
Here's something nobody tells you: it all starts from copy-paste. I realized it when I started learning the piano on my own as an adult. You don't know what the fuck you're doing at first. You just imitate and keep going, and eventually it will make sense. Oh, and here's another thing: finish the shitty tutorials that end up in FizzBuzz. The whole point of imitation is to get a sense of things. You'll start seeing patterns eventually.
Everyone feels like a bumbling retard when they start doing new shit >I cannot be this fucking stupid / clumsy Is the exact thought that goes through my head as I face a new frontier and can't instantly solve the 101 tutorial.
Oliver Wright
Pretty much this, you just start copying stuff, then you get to learn harmony progression and eventually you can hear it or make a new one but there is always that need for constantly boring copying until your brain is programmed to do thing naturally. Now I can play shit like Liszt Sonata and Rachmaninoff's P.C. No. 3
Also not so long ago I lost all my pianos in a fire so I took to learn a guitar. It is kinda funny how fast it goes when you already know musical theory and hear good.
Cameron Butler
>Even Terry fucking Davis could outcode me Gtfo newfag

cluj is a shithole, you people would say good things about any other city. t. brasovian
Robert Ross
>I am a piece of shit born into the 2nd best country in the world (after Switzerland). I'm not sure if Canada is even the 2nd best country in North America
>be me >mutt >5'7'' >can't program >use macOS >discovered tranny porn fetish last month >can't lift >can't code I am a disgrace.
Cooper Ramirez
You take that back. Terry Davis coded a beautiful operating system with naught but the vision god himself gave. Comparing yourself to him is the height of folly.
Nathaniel Torres
Please don't encourage more retards to enter webdev.
Austin Thomas
>5'5" Perfect size to become a trap succubus with programming socks. Start HRT by tomorrow.
Charles Anderson
>Even Terry fucking Davis could outcode me What the fuck did he mean by this?
Jace White
this i got the basics of programming down when i was 12 by copypasting php and actionscript scripts and editing shit and seeing how it broke or worked
Bentley Gutierrez
itf I had a Java interview and wasnt even able to make a "hello world", have another two today
Benjamin Clark
Ditto. Nothing's free, and those who don't capitalise on having expert knowledge will lose to somebody else who does. Also, paid work will always speak volumes more than unpaid work, and the more prestigious the company/clients, the better your career will be. Blame the companies that pay shit and get shit. Fuck them. If they're not looking to fork out a shitton for certified professionals, then they'll get a cheap steaming pile of Indian crap. It'll cost them in the long term with maintenance overhead, longer loading times, bills rising, and shit unexpectedly breaking. But hey, clients don't really have a fucking clue what their system is doing, so this is how we'll teach them. Go write some crappy Linux freeware, freetard.
Julian Garcia
>Even Terry fucking Davis could outcode me. Are you seriously implying that terry was bad? You, the subhuman who can't even fizzbuzz?
Apart from the fact that you can acutally get well-paying jobs in Vienna, functioning infrastructure, functioning healthcare not drowning in corruption, internationally renowned conference centers, etc..
But yeah, apart from all these things, Budapest is better.
Ian Morris
OP I'm also about to fail out of uni. I hate myself more than I ever have right now. Except unlike you I'm actually good at programming, or at least as good as I'm expected to be. I mean I actually enjoy it. I just can't survive in an academic environment. Or any environment. I'm going to work manual labor until I'm 30 or so then kill myself after distancing myself from my family and making them dislike me
Alexander Fisher
>technically been programming since 2008 (took AP CS in high school) >have a bachelors degree in computer engineering since 2015 >ten years later, still so bad at programming I struggle to get jobs >the only job I could land pays shit and mostly consists of copypasting code from one repo to another >on the odd occasion I actually get to write code, it's always something on the complexity level of fizzbuzz >doing leetcodes to practice for job interviews, but still struggle with some easy questions >mediums take a whole day, if I can even finish >it might not even matter because I'm too autistic to get past the behavioral part of interviews >I probably won't even get any interviews because I have no portfolio, because I have zero motivation for side projects, and my skills from my current job are irrelevant to the outside world
don't do it, manual labor sucks. If you push yourself to stay in uni it'll make you a stronger person and then afterwards you'll get a decent paying job that doesn't destroy your body too.
Anthony Rodriguez
hey man, quit being hard on yourself. If you don't like coding, or if you think programming is not for you, there's always options.
Ignore the negativity and criticisms, if you want to try to learn coding harder, you can try a different learning method.
Ryder Gray
>10 years later and struggle to get jobs
maybe you dont know how to market yourself & your skills you fucking retard
Noah Harris
Just get your A+ cert and work for Geek Squad, they even have remote positions where your autistic ass doesn't have to leave the house. A+ is literally just a basic ass course on troubleshooting, you probably already know 99% of the shit on the exam and you can get the study guides for free.
Kayden Watson
is it worth it to work for geek squad tho?
cause i aint no damn geek
Michael White
realize that the point (and the joy) is the process of learning, not the knowledge itself
The pay is alright and the work is easy. Starting off you'll be making around 30k/year, if you have basic leadership skills and management abilities you can up that to 50k/year.
Tyler Rivera
>skills skills? he said he sucks as a programmer
Andrew Morales
You can take the UP express or just take the express bus from kipling if you're too poor. Which you probably are.
This guys is right
I'm 28 and I've lived in Toronto my whole life. I do data analysis.
Carter Bailey
was nice to read this, thanks.
Brody Scott
>2nd best country in the world (after Switzerland) yeah just kill yourself

this.

the joy of doing tedious chickenshit busywork that takes time but doen't require much thought yes fun
