i only backup my music library and firefox profile, none of the other files i have are important enough to consider backing them up.

I only back up files that I've personally created, everything else is replaceable.

My only really important file is my KeePass database and that thing is on my dropbox.

I can't afford a backup

I don't need no backup

I heard Windows telemetry sends all my files to Microsoft, so if my harddrive dies I'll just ask them give me copies

I only backup my mail folder and keepass db when they're modified (auto detects) and my /usr/local/bin/ as everything else can be redownloaded

source of those scripts?
teach me senpai.

I backup automatically every hour automatically, but i still have to figure out how to push them offsite automatically

>Time Machine for incremental
>Carbon Copy Cloner overnight once a week
>pic related for offsite, they even backed up all the chinese cartoons on my externals.

Put it somewhere save and throw a script in your /etc/borg.hourly calling the script with the repo name, the harddrive uuid you want to back up to and the repo passphrase. Works like a charm and saved me 4 times so far

Daily cron job that rsync my data to VPS with most important also in Dropbox.

Daily compressed tarballs that get deleted after a week has passed.
As long as I save things to the SMB share, it's safe from the communists.

forgot. Photos and videos on Google Photos

Daily rsync $HOME (without .cache and .mozilla) to home server, both for phone aswell as laptop.

Please learn about btrfs/zfs, it's decades old tech, and then stfu

I would need to buy 40TB+ worth of HDDs to backup my stuff.

Freenas is a BSD-based operating system that implements ZFS, which allows for taking snapshots.
