or something else?

additionally best shell?

to the X to the F to the C to the E

I like i3wm. For shell, zsh. Keep in mind you have to configure zsh a bit or else it won't feel much different from bash.

1. Cinnamon
2. Xfce
3. Everything else
¿. Gnome
¿¿. KDE

(in)to the garbage (it goes)

KDE if you have >4 gigs of ram and plenty of disc space. Otherwise chose MATE or XFCE

Lxqt, kde >>> gtk trash

does cinnamon have a light theme

just try both and others too for a while and see what you prefer

I prefer XFCE but you might find that something else suits you better

You have a VM, test them and choose whateve you prefer.

xfce < 2gb
kde 4gb >
gnome 8gb >

KDE will be faster in a VM because you can't turn off Gnome's shitty compositor. It also uses less ram

>KDE if you have >4 gigs of ram
KDE literally use less than 300MB

It's the default one.

KDE is superior in every aspect, except for stability.

They are both equally worthless.

something else.

I see you're running gnome. You know, I'm actually on KDE myself. I know this one is supposed to be better but you know what they say. Old habits...

What about XFCE, it just werks.

>VMs

fish doesn't have this problem

>still uses gtk applications

Why doesn't G like gnome?

The developers treat the users as if they are complete morons

Running Gnome or KDE in VM is retarded, it needs too many resources, just use XFCE

Elaborate

>Microsoft takes away the start menu pissing everyone off
>Gnome: “what a great idea! Let’s do the same thing!”

linux is just budget windows. looks the same, does most of the same things, but at zero cost with all the benefits stripped away

Continually remove existing features in the name of making things less confusing for their poor babby users

Anything but gnome.
Contrary to snowflake opinion, there's nobody on this board too cool for bash.
