Big data

So much to say, so little time.

Same could be said about:
> blockchain
> IoT
> functional programming

I think some stuff is legit, but I don't discard a massive bubble bursting because a lot of retards high on VC money thought they got a product because they glued casssandra, java and angular with some D3.

Functional Programming is fundamentally different because it's promoted by nerds rather than marketing people.

Yes
And your microwave, stove, fan, conditioner, TV, washing machine, toilet, shower, BDSM dungeon

All these things connected means IoT

There was one user who posted much better name (than IoT), can't remember it now...

telescreens and vidboxes from 1984?

Worse. IoT isn't just big appliances being connected to the internet, it's _everything_.
Your speakers? Connected to the internet (individually) for streaming.
Your guitar amp? Connected to the internet to download the latest presets and to stream your music, or jam tracks.
Your chair? Connected to the internet. Analyzes anal relaxation and communicates with your speakers to play soothing music.
Your toilet paper roll holder? Connected to the internet. Gives realtime data about chemical makeup of your shit which is used to alert your doctor and health insurance to unhealthy diet, and orders more toilet paper automatically. Determines the perfect thiccness and texture for your butt skin.
And your car won't just be connected to the internet. The seats are individually connected. The engine is. The infotainment system is. The speakers are.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Thankfully, my current employer realized after a few months what horsecrap Scrum is and switched back to waterfall. Now we're actually getting shit done.

def constrain_to_interval(value):
result = value
if result > INTERVAL_MAX:
result = result - (INTERVAL_MAX - INTERVAL_MIN)
elif result < INTERVAL_MIN:
result = result + (INTERVAL_MAX - INTERVAL_MIN)
return constrain_to_interval(result)

This is literally what a coworker of mine wrote. Could have just used a single loop and a single condition.

>it's everything
Did you expected me to name every thing?
I even mentioned BDSM dungeon, implying that it is everything.

Nah, something much more sophisticated and self explanatory.
Oh, well... Gonna keep calling it IoT

All of the things you mentioned are large appliances and there have been internet-connected models of all of them (excluding the sex dungeon which I took as a joke) before IoT was a thing.

>everyone not from Reddit is data engineer
>data engineer

did you just make all those words up?

These things counts anyway
I'm not even sure why term should be explained. It's in a name: internet of things
>what things?
Doesn't matter. You can connect something to internet; it's now a thing on the internet

This code can be doubled in speed by simply using the delete key and nothing else.

>Free software

owo

You can double the quality of posts in this thread by deleting your existence.

Forgot to add: Speed isn't even the problem as that method isn't used very often. It's the potential stack overflow from the recursive calls that's a problem, especially considering that he doesn't have a terminate condition.

Internet of Shit is the most realistic name for it. It's all riddled with shit code, spying and vulnerabilities.

IOT generally describes sensor devices, which have to be ingested via a Kafka cluster, Spark Steaming, or another tool.
It's a LOT of shit that has to then be currated via another tool, usually Hive or Spark, to make a relational model

I didn't expect this kind of retardation. Maybe Jow Forums really is a bunch of teenagers after all.

>Hive
I use this, and I'm no big data engineer. I also use pandas everyday to handle dataframes with 500000+ entries and 50 columns. I do it effectively with no formal training. Your job is unnecessary and once everyone figures out how easy it is to do your tasks, the data engineer role will completely disappear feom the industry.

>. I also use pandas everyday to handle dataframes with 500000+ entries and 50 columns.
so are you a student or what?

Machine learning is a joke. You cannot generate business value from it

>Pandas 5000000 entries / 50 columns is around a million rows? You running that local on your MacBook?
>Pandas DF instead of Spark DF?
>Hive when that amount of data fits into relational?
My job is unnecessary? Try running a cluster with 32,000 cores, and then we'll see what's up Playboy.

Also, Pandas doesn't work on Hadoop, you homo!
