this was shitposted about 10 times this week, no sane gnu/linux user still runs x11

That's a window service not the operating system

X is deprecated. If you're still using it you're a boomer.

>the 95% of Linux distros are "deprecated"

Then what should we run? No X11?
Wayland is not ready for another 20 years.

>A two-year-old bug is nowhere near a record for X.Org. Back in 2014, IOActive's Ilja van Sprundel found a 27-year-old bug in the X Window server.

LMFAO

>the absolute state of gahnoo slash linecks
The absolute state is that it was announced on a ML on the 25th and is already fixed.

Do your updates.

>depending on its configuration
gee whiz, by that standard ssh is lubricated asshole begging the network for hackerman dick.

Mathematicians and building designers found mistaken assumption from a hundred years ago before. So what?

use framebuffer, there is literally no reason to have a window manager in the current day and age.

that looks like an absolute mess

I have to agree with the other user. That's messy.

lmfao fucking troll

if you use bdf fonts then fbterm will actually line up the box-drawing characters correctly. using pcf2bdf and then renaming the bdf font to something like terminusfb is the only way i can stand it. something about it not lining up really bugs me. i don't think it's actively developed anymore so it probably won't get fixed, which is a real shame because it's such a great tool.

If they have access to your computer room you are already fucked. Spy cameras, etc. Nothing to see here.

>If a program is ran as suid root, it can be used to perform actions as root

THIS IS WHY SUID EXISTS

THIS VULNERABILITY IS LIKE GIVING USERS SUDO PRIVILEGES AND THEN SAYING THEY CAN EXPLOIT THEIR WAY TO ROOT

FUCK YOU

~80% in this pic is wasted space

>leenucks doesn’t have a GUI that isn’t broken or deprecated
OHNONONO
*inhales*

So basically if I understand this correctly the article is saying
>run X11 as root
>hackers can run stuff as root

Isn't that the whole reason why you're not supposed to run root for normal use?

99% of Linux distros are running X11 as root. Look at your processes.

What's on his http server?

I'm running Debian/XFCE. does pic-related mean I am ok, or should I check something else?

What do you expect from the headphones and winfaggots board?

I'm running a BSD and you're right.
The process "Xorg" runs as user but "/usr/local/bin/X" runs as root.
I'm assuming this is because root access is required for graphics drivers or some shit?

Try
>grep X
Or
>grep Xorg
Instead

eek

Fedora evidently defaults to rootless X. Surely this has been the norm for some time now?

Don't even work unless Xorg is poorly configured. So this doesn't work Fedora, CentOS, or Ubuntu. I've tried them all. Others have reported that it doesn't work on Arch either. It's literally nothing.

>use framebuffer
Fucking disgusting. Kill yourself.
