I need to configure kde5, but xorg doesn't start up. Any hints?
Xorg doesn't work
Also
>startx
from the arch loonigs wiki: To start Plasma with xinit/startx, append exec startkde to your .xinitrc file. If you want to start Xorg at login, please see Start X at login. To start a Plasma on Wayland session from a console, run export XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland && export $(dbus-launch) && startplasmacompositor
and read the log, faggot
I'm not using arch Linux but freebsd
looks like xorg is not configured. run the autoconfigure utility. if it doesnt work you might have to write your own. did you look in the freebsd handbook. could also be a video driver issue, have you installed video drivers
>running startx as root
I have ati driver, but I'm not sure if It is the one i need.
Whatt's the problem? IrĂ¡ just to ser if xorg works.
you try to install the desktop environment before the startx command?
>FreeBSD
LOL this is what happens when you have Tyrone program things.
>ATI driver
user what is your gpu
I think It is an amd radeon kabini
run
$ lspci -k | grep -A 2 -E "(VGA|3D)"
to get your video card
replied to wrong post, meant for
>not use neofetch
They still refer to Radeon drivers coming from ATI? I've been running Nvidia for a bit but only use Linux on microprocessors and the works.
It's all good my guy
OP cannot into computers go install ubuntu
no video drivers.
just use linux like the rest of us (just werks), if you were really ready for freebsd you don't be asking us how to fix it
OP try this
echo -e "faggot"
why would you run freebsd?
are you a nerd hipster that considers linux too mainstream?
I could understand using openbsd due to their emphasis on security (used it years ago), but freebsd?
I was runing a vm with no problems
>Failed to load module "ati"
it pretty much tells you right there that you don't have a working gpu driver.
you should probably read this:
wiki.freebsd.org
I have heard that monolithic kernels and systemd are crap. Also i dont like bloated software thats why I'm leaving Windows.
If you are to dumb to read text you shouldn't be touching operating systems that are text based.
My Gpu
rabeon driber should be gud then
Nope doesn't works
Vesa was causing conflict, however km its not in the repo and i dont want to instala It from ports.
Sweaty... freebsd has a monolitic kernel too...
The Linux user experience is great
Freebsd uses microkernel
I suspect you may be trying to start x with a system set up for wayland.
>not dragonflybsd because you want a sane alternative to CoC/Linux
>using possibly the shittiest BSD out there with a CoC even worse than Linux
>hurr durr systemd bad
>hurr durr monolithic kernels bad, I'll use a monolithic one that clings onto an ancient codebase instead
en.wikipedia.org
>FreeBSD's kernel provides support for some essential tasks such as managing processes, communication, booting and filesystems. FreeBSD has a monolithic kernel,[75] with modular design.
