Vista is when gpu acceleration started and dual core cpus started coming out while ssds still barely existed, maybe a small amount for a cacheboost.
they sold laptops with big stickers promising a free vista update for like a year before release and it took like two years for the average laptop to even run it okay. it was like ati and their hl2 voucher for the 9800 pro.

Windows has the total wrong idea when it comes to "dark mode"
Not a single linux theme i've used has set it to total black
Not a single macOS theme i've seen has set it to total black
Not a single windows 7 mod i've seen is total black

I've used a windows phone for a year, it has some neat features but the UI is dog shit.
