Qutebrowser is something I am interested in, but it appears to lack a umatrix alternative. I use waterfox but will unironically switch if someone can get the privacytools plugin stack replicated. >umatrix >decentraleyes >privacy badger >https everywhere
How much of this issue can be solved by using PFSense? I am aware of ad filtering at a network level.
Blake Perez
systemd is minimal nothing will get done without it
Brandon Murphy
Mostly the same except it's systemd free >OS void >WM dwm >Video MPV >Music ncmpcpp+mpd >Text editor kakoune >Images sxiv >Shell oksh >Terminal st
Thomas King
Jelly bracelet (black) is tween code for sucking dick. That's hot.
At what use case does this not become a game of semantics? It appears even pentium m w/ 512mb can operate on i3wm.
I know it's a fun conversation starter, but its not like GNOME3 vs LXDE, all these WM seem perfectly minimal to the point of a rounding error when compared to alternatives like a full DE.
David Kelly
i didn't know 2bwm was so lightweight i just picked it because it has 2b in the name
Maybe in the naughts, I doubt it means it anymore seeing that there are easier ways for people to communicate they're dtf since the smartphone. Odds are it was a hairband she took off lol
Hunter Collins
>OS OpenBSD >WM dwm >Video mpv >Music ncmpcpp+mpd >Text editor vim >Images feh >Shell ksh >Terminal st
Wish nvim didn't so much fucking configuring in st/OpenBSD to render in a terminal properly.
Jason Perry
Reminder, that don't break your back over for muh minimalism, use what worst best for you. It's not bloat if it's necessary and you use all of it.
Jackson Phillips
Do you have the same list with terminal emulator? I want to make a super efficient single board desktop computer for maximum efficiency. (Will use dillo or netsurf as a browser)
Jordan Morgan
I don't use a window manager, so 0KB.
Gabriel Howard
it's all under 100M literally who gives a fuck
it's not like we're building embedded desktops or anything
William Cruz
This Unless you're using GNOME or KDE your memory footprint is irrelevant Especially when you're picking a WM because it uses I MEGABYTE more ram
Lists different repositories and their packages. You can find all the packages distros have and if you search for a specific package you'll see which distro has it.
Jason Brown
Can you lpr to modern printers?
William Thompson
can you notice a difference if you're using a raspberry pi?
Iegitimately starting to thinking I might be able to switch my desktop to one
Aaron Peterson
why does everyone shit on linux from scratch? isnt it ideally the best plan for Jow Forums? your own distro from scratch? whats the issue?
Jason Campbell
I honestly have no idea, maybe it's not "free" enough or something
Jonathan Ross
Not him but I am using an SBC, I made sure to have it as backup and use it to replace the desktop from time to time. You got to make sure to select the correct programs taht wont hog your cpu but if you use low resource usage applications it works fine. Watching hd movies and videos on youtube and all.
Colton Powell
but its as free as you make it, the fault would be on them
Nicholas King
Vim is not minimal, use vi. Vim violates the unix principle (e.g. built in terminal).

Landon Diaz
>Claiming to be minimal >Using X11 instead of Wayland
I develop for a wayland compositor, though. Wayland is ridiculously more minimal than X.
Landon Campbell
>autistic minimal redundant statement, only autists care about this shit
Alexander Sanchez
No. Only sane and well informed people care about this shit.
Blake Jenkins
No. Only autistic people care for minute details enough to get a minimalist desktop. Most people just get rid of enough to make their computer run so they can get shit done. That being said, autistic Linux users like us are generally more intelligent.
Wyatt Walker
Shut the fuck up. Im not autistic Don't put a negative spin on minimalism with meme illnesses
Kayden Perry
Getting a bit defensive there aren't ya' lad.
Leo Scott
i dont care about this thread i just wanted to say that Five Guys is really good
Keep the standard system libraries, and IF and ONLY IF you know how to install a window manager of your preference you can skip one of those DEs, otherwise you wont know what to do with just the command line. Just have a little common sense.
Adam Ward
I skipped the DE, but kept system utils because it seems like it would save me a major headache. Now time to install my AMD graphics and i3, i3 is minimal right?
Blake Gutierrez
Yeah, all from the command line btw so hope you took notes before that. Good luck.
William Ramirez
>kept system utils You fucked up. Anyways >Now time to install my AMD graphics and i3, i3 is minimal right?
No. Get sudo if you dont have it. You should have it anyways.
Change your apt sources list. You don't want ancient packages
Update your system Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then get your amd drivers Sudo apt-get install xorg Sudo apt-get i3 or whatever
I have my laptop next to me with the Debian and Arch wiki open :p
Cameron Campbell
All I changed from the sources list was I appended contrib and non-free to everything. I am using debian testing 9.5 though, what do I need to upgrade?
Ayden Gonzalez
>installing debian >using arch wiki >not using the debian wiki No
Landon Lewis
Arch wiki is for random stuff like getting sudo setup
Christopher Wilson
Dont be meanie, he is a noob.
Easton Morales
Ohhh OK i need to change "stretch" to "buster" for Debian testing right?
Eh I've installed Arch and Gentoo before, just never really grasped how debians source.list worked
Jayden Perry
Idk but i always upgrade on a fresh installation You should have sudo already. In the installation when it asks you enter a root password, you leave it blank and skip that step.
Ian Sanders
