Xubuntu uses 680mb ram with nothing open except htop

>Xubuntu uses 680mb ram with nothing open except htop

what the fuck I thought this was supposed to be a "light" distro

Ubuntu is not a light distro
install Debian or void if u want something easy to install

Neon uses ~300mb with nothing open.

>be ramlet
>complain how 680mb of RAM is too much for DE to use

Stop being poor.

xfce is gnome 2 essentially
its not lightweight

Remove systemd, install sysvinit and systemd-shim. Also LXDE consumes less RAM.

>Remove systemd, install sysvinit
that solves nothing, in fact, it makes the problem worse

btw sysvinit starts 1500-2000 new processes by the time you reach your GUI (check your new PID to see for yourself)
disgusting

Learn English pls. Thanks.

lol OP got gnomed

Pfft, Xubuntu. Linux Mint 19 XFCE runs better. Don't ask me how, it just does.

Update: I removed gnome-software, and the system now uses around 540mb of ram with only htop open.

>Using jewbuntu
Found your problem. Just install Arch Linux™

*dabs*

lubuntu uses even less.

When did everything get so wrong?

>When did everything get so wrong?
when people became computer illiterate and started thinking that system "using" more memory is a bad thing

At least 128 of those are the kernel.

Millennials were put in charge.

>system wasting RAM on unoptimized shit and bloat is a good thing
Get a brain.

128 mb is the minimal requirement for the kernel though.

it can go lower

How did you get one and a half stick of RAM?

One 1GB, one 500MB. For some reason, the motherboard won’t accept 2GB of RAM
yeah that’s an old computer

hey, how about you go and create another thread about how cs degree is so unimportant in "programming" and that none of that knowledge is useful, because that's what you seem to be really good at

Is this a serious post? Kek

keep shitposting, brainlet

Please show cat /proc/meminfo

How do I open these links? Nothing happens when I click

that’s an image from a year ago on my test machine, this GNU/Linux install has long been replaced by other OSes, FreeDOS being the most recent installed on it.
But I’ll see if I can get an install this light back, in which case I’ll post the results here

>Using significantly more memory than needed
>Not bloat
When you move out of your mom's basement, use an army of tards since extra is not bloat. You'll have the added bonus of being in good company.

Eww

???
This gracious user is giving you easy lightweight distro recommendations. He knows your question, the reason why he specified easy to install is because he knows you're a fucking retard user.

Now reply to him again and say thank you

Shame it's a buggy piece of crap.

my manjaro KDE only use 500MB after cold boot.

Lol I use less than 400 on muh KDE opensuse

Xfce will probably use more than 250MiB after they've completed the transition to gtk3
