The entry level market is flooded. Get a referral and make sure you know your algorithms and data structures to do well in an interview.

t. new grad that had to send out hundreds of applications before I got an offer.

>no degree
>ged
>less than $2,000 spent on certificates
>making $55K doing nothing

Programming is for women and Indians these days unless you got in early. Get into IT or admin stuff

>live with parents
>24/7/365 free time to do what I want instead of wasting my life wagecucking

Just because you match the job on paper doesn't mean the company will like you stupid ass

>instead I'm fucked by my parents

>be CSgraduate #83528945 for the year 2018
>Y cAnT i GiT a jEb
Hope you starve dumb CuckputerScientist faggit

>he fell for the college meme
>he fell for the "portfolio" meme

please don't tell me you also fell for the leetcode meme.

Cucked* heh

nice freudian slip

just lrn2code bro, it's easy

>Computer science graduate

>Get a job after applying to like 3 places
>Hate the place due to extremely shitty management
>Apply for another single remote job
>Got it
Feels good. Only annoying thing is a have to deal with my own taxes.

Most people I know who have this issue didn't do a co-op during their undergrad. A co-op isn't a guarantee but it significantly increases your chances of getting employment after you graduate.

lmao sysadmin master race, got 5 job offers in my first month of job hunting out of a 2 year diploma, 60k a year to look at ip address and AD user accounts

>comp eng degree
>no online presence whatsoever
>did paid internship every summer
>firmware engineering position, second application
>passed interview with flying colours
>$90,000/yr for my first full time position
>feels good man
I learned way more at those internships than I did at school.

You're in the wrong area or are setting the bar too high. If you've never had a job in tech (even as level 1 support) then you're a wildcard, unproven in the real workplace. Get a shitty 50k/yr job doing literally whatever in tech for a year then bounce.

this is how you do it.

How do I score internships? Pls drop some knowledge user.

>Why cant I get a job with my cookie cutter qualifications
Because there's 1000 people just like you, and your name wasn't the one randomly drawn out of a hat. Either get something in your resume to make yourself unique or just wait your turn to randomly get selected.

so much anger

I don't think they ever look at your github profile unless you're Fabrice Bellard or something.

>>active github profile
This is bullshit.
Get yourself a proper internship instead. You'll get a lot more traction if you can show you're housebroken in the corporate world.

this is gonna be hard to hear but work on your interpersonal skills. I've been hired places I'm unqualified over people who were simply because I gave the impression I would be "a painless addition to the team" or that I seemed like I "wouldn't have a problem expressing my thoughts to other members of the team" etc...

People don't want some fucking gargoyle who's "qualified on paper" to come in and disrupt their workflow and make the workplace uncomfortable with his autistic anti-social tendencies. Develop your self-esteem, develop your social skills and actually be someone who is the complete package.

If you actually want some help check the link, I'm editing it now.

You can get your friends to refer you even if they were only an intern at that company. If you don’t have friends join a club and make friends. Hard mode: networking at career faires make an effort to make an impression be pushy and let them know you really want a internship there

>tfw too anxious to make friends or join clubs
For one of my classes last year we had to join a club and take a selfie with a stranger. I got so nervous and couldn’t do it so I spent 12 hours photoshopping a picture of myself to make it look like I went. Guess I’ll try career fair.

i legit dont. i still apply and then literally forget about that shit until i end up applying more, recently i've tried doing some personal projects but i cant do them with no passion.

its looking up though, applied to a job just yesterday thats looking for all levels of experience close to where i live. going to call the recruiter tomorrow and brush up on some java.

how? what certs did you get and what position do you have? i could do this just to bide the time on a SE job

Just take a contracting position for a year or two. When you're at the end point of junior/mid-level then you'll find full time easier.

This. I make 80k to look busy half the time why the cuck programmers cry and beg for more VM resources. I eat tendies in the office while writing up that their systems are provisioned enough and their code must be crap. I then dip my tendies in their delicious programmer tears.

>working towards finance degree
>no github profile
>match all requirements in internship descriptions
>get summer 2019 internship offer with large bank less than one month into school
I keep hearing about a shortage of workers in tech but I also keep seeing people complain about difficulty finding a job. What's the deal with that?

>people complain about difficulty finding a job

there autistic unsociable man children that no sane person would willingly agree to subject themselves to routinely

>keep getting jobs I'm not qualified for

I know, imposter syndrome. But for real, I am WAY out of my depth this time. I have a call with (redacted) tomorrow and I'm almost praying I don't get it.

is that nishinosono-chan?

>He's ok with doing nothing instead of creating things during his most productive years
That's how you know you're dead inside

where are good places to look for comp sci degree jobs? i've been on ziprecruiter and indeed for a while and have only gotten a few calls

I'm in a similar position but got desperate and started "white hat hacking" and now have a lot of crypto but needed cash. Bad news is that anything security related is fucking radioactive when applying to dev jobs. Seriously. The HR cunts look at that shit and must think you are Hackerman or some shit. Yeah enjoy your XSS vulns I found on your shitty crud site that shit doesn't come free.

>comp sci degree
>no active github
>match half the requirements in job description
>had 4 jobs out of the 4 in-industry interviews I've had. Haven't missed one yet.

I'm in the exact opposite position my dude. Perhaps you should've done some paid internships while you were in school.

> CS degree
> have about 5 years of experience
> quit from a reputable company 9 months ago and travelled the world
> tried freelancing but way too lazy to keep at it
> come back home
> applying for jobs, getting interviews with everyone but they all blow me off after the final step without explanations
> "you're great user, but fuck you"

That happened with about 5-6 jobs, both my last previous jobs I got an offer first try. This is super demotivating and I am considering being a NEET for the next year

Attached: 1539675310291.jpg (540x703, 121K)

Interesting. Is it because of your weird absence, or do you have a string of weird results when googling your name?

Guy with a job and the ability to hire. If anyone wants a chance at a job, send me your linkedin and/or resume.

[email protected]

Not at all, I have a eastern european name and when I google myself all I get is my consulting website and youtube profile, along with some random github projects

Not really sure why, the first couple of interviews I was pretty rusty due to not doing it for over half a year, but after hitting the books for a bit and doing topcoder/hackerrank daily I feel like I am back in shape

I am sure eventually someone will bite and hopefully I stop feeling like an imposter with a good track record

> when applying to dev jobs
Why? Apply as a security expert.

>he has even one day of being unemployed on record

way to fuck up your whole life. you might as well kill yourself now (and those around you as well, while you're at it).

I am using this as a manual

Save money and start a business or safe for retirement lmao

what kind of knot should you use at the other end?

Whatever is strong enough to hold 155 pounds of NEET

>155 pounds

I wish

Buntline or double half hitch would probably work. Been considering it myself.

>no comp sci degree
>active github profile
>match some requirements in job descriptions
>still so easy to get a full time job
hmmm

>math degree
>no github profile
>barely meet one or two requirements in job descriptions
>still get interviews and offers

You forgot the last part of the puzzle, move where no one wants to go and get experience.

first thing I get is a dick in the mail. OK. e

Hiring is dysfunctional and broken as fuck, that's what. Death to all HR faggots!

>12 hours photoshopping a picture of myself to make it look like I went
lmao

by posting it again
