Escape comcast

Long story short, Comcast has been ripping me off on my internet speed. I pay for 150 down and I'm lucky to get 80. I have called their support numerous times and waited for at least a combined total of 10 hours just sitting on hold. This is getting to me and I don't know what to do. Suggestions?

Try not using a shitty modem/router.

These are wired speeds

wew lad

Good luck endlessly powercycling your modem every time you call and having shitty technicians come to your house to do nothing but ask for water, I feel you op

Use a cat5e cable.

Consider yourself lucky it works at all. They don't give a fuck. That's what being a monopoly is.

cat 7 nigga, live on the edge, nigga.

City size? I know plenty of cities whose infrastructures are oversaturated as fuck. The company in charge figures their dumbass customers can't tell the difference, so upgrading it is a waste of profit.

Are you seeing only 80 from a speed test or real world download?

In any case, you've no options if their your only provider. Your best bet is to harass them every single day about it.

Also, in tiny fine print, they don't claim to offer 150, but rather UP to 150mbps. ;)

I am seeing 80 from a speed test.

That might be my only option.

I'm getting like half my speed though :/

My town has about 23,500 people living in it.

Not too big then. Bunch of kikes. Shitcast can shove it.

Does anyone else around you have Comcast and only get half their speed?

If you're renting their modem, buy your own.

I know many people around me have had trouble with their internet speed, but none to the extent of my issues.

I have had my modem replaced by comcast twice already and it didn't really seem to make a difference. If I bought and used a non-comcast modem and stopped renting theirs do you think it would make a difference?

I don't know why you haven't done that already. If the problem persists, you can always return the new modem. Literally the first thing I did when I signed up for Comcast was buy my own modem + router.

Move somewhere that doesn't suck. I have a hard time finding a router that can keep up with my connection.

Can you log into your modem and provide tx/rx/snr levels along with the log details. Make sure to remove all ip addresses.

Do you know what kind of connection you have into your home? Is it old coax originally used for cable-TV?

Going back 20 years, which is probably comparable to the third world infrastructure in place in the US.. I had a Internet connection with a cable-modem connected to coax. I did not get anywhere near my supposed speed. There wasn't anything to be done about it since it was just old coax being bad.

If you can change provider then do. If you can't then live with it. I know that many areas in the US have a local monopoly on Internet connections so you may not have a choice. I do find this a bit puzzling, btw. Here in the Socialist Union it's taxes up our asses and regulation but even small cites have numerous choices when it comes to Internet. Here we can use ADSL2 over copper or slow Internet over coax or modern fiber with a cat6 in the wall (which is what I have). I can just switch if they screw with me.

Do you know which menu this is under on a rented xfinity modem?

My connection is through a coax cable that goes into my modem.

>If I bought and used a non-comcast modem and stopped renting theirs do you think it would make a difference?
>If
Comcast rents out their shitastic modem+router combo for $10 a month. Your normie nighthawk ac1750 router costs $90 and a DOCSIS 3.0 Arris costs like $40.

all at least RG59? how many splits?

I think so.

I only have don't have splitters on my cables if that's what you're asking.

irrelevant, kiddo
routers are hardwired devices, only.
modems are also hardwired only
access points are the only things that broadcast and receive wireless data.
so now tell me, when someone says don't use a shitty modem/router, how can they be wireless speeds when the only offerings are wired?

>your ISP supplied router can't achieve the speeds they're selling you

sad

>pay 44 for 150mbps internet (modem only reaches 100 so whatever) no cable/phone/etc
>pay 25 for unlimited internet
>still cheaper than the regular plan
not sure how to feel about this
but i am getting a docsis 3.1 modem soon to push up the bandwidth

nice, what is your router?

ISP provided G1100.

Get some Cat8, pleb.

Take your autism medicine, you pedantic bastard.

Most cable companies use a modem/router combo that does wifi.

wrong.
They use a device with a modem, router, switching and access point all in one.

Is your coaxial cable all new with short lengths and minimal splitter junctions?

You should be using triple or quad shielded coax.

While you're not wrong, you're also probably one of those asshats that unironically corrects everyone who says Linux instead of GNU/Linux.

Anyone else live in New England and use Crapcast?

Has your internet been down for a few hours too? What the hell is going on?

Grab a gun, storm into Comcast HQ and take hostages. Tell the cops you'll execute one hostage every minute until Comcast gives you the internet speeds you are paying for. Its extreme but it's probably the only thing that will work.

Lurk moar newfag

lol I pay for 60 but I get 70, besides speed doesn't matter to me so I switch plans to century link every year and switch back to comcast after a year of that so I always pay the discounted first 12 months
and never ever ever get leased modem from comcast

Is this what you have to do to get good internet deals? Continually change provides on a yearly basis? Don't they ever get wise to that and cut you off?

there are probably other ways, but I don't care to bother
they don't care, they only start caring when it hurts their profits enough, which it won't, same thing with pirating
