fast.com I find isn't really accurate.

I'm on a 1gbps NIC that maxes out at 945mbps (due to TCP/IP packet overhead). Yet fast.com shows me hitting above 945mbps in both upload and download.

Here is my google results to compare

Attached: 2018-11-03 09_39_57.png (942x717, 61K)

seems accurate to me

get fucked, you wish you were this fucking SANIC FAST

I'm talking about on the high end, obviously your connection that isn't even breaking 100mbps will not see any particular difference.

The fact fast.com is showing me 1.3gbps upload speed is the first major red flag. That's 1300mbps, on a connection speed of 1000mbps, going through an ethernet NIC that caps at 945mbps.

It's obviously mis-reporting the numbers. At least on faster gigabit connections.

I upgraded from 1mbps to 15mbps the other day (and we're getting closer to 30mbps in practice)

It is night and day difference. The internet is actually usable again.

unpopular opinion: no one but constant download faggots needs more than 100Mbps

you entitled fuck. you can tell the people you didn't have to deal with the 56k days.

not even them need it, only the worst most obsessed of the ratio cucks

If you are able to get three or virgin media 4G they offer unlimited data packages, just buy a 4g modem

I've got a business package for my home and it barely breaks 20 despite living across the road from the City of London boundary

Attached: 7770233161.png (350x200, 20K)

How is that unpopular? That's an obvious fact.

No one NEEDS 100mbps either, but it's nice to have especially if you've got a few people watching stuff at once.

But if you have really heavy users, you quickly find 100mbps isn't exactly a lot. We upgraded from 150mbps to 300mbps, and then for the same price my ISP offered us 1gbps, and it was very obvious when we got gigabit because our downloads would pretty much never interfere with each other on gigabit, but at 150mbps or 300mbps, you could tell when someone else was downloading a big file. At gigabit you simply never notice what others are doing because you have so much bandwidth to spare.

AND SUCH, THIS IS LIFE IN YUROPOORIA

:O

>unpopular opinion: no one but constant download faggots needs more than 100Mbps
you clearly never used 100Mbps on a clustered network.
one average download (30GB file) put your network down and you can't watch stream without proper qos, this can't happen with 1Gbps with 2018 streaming.
1Gbps will be barelly enough for 8k but we'r enot there yet and hopefully 10Gbps will be a thing.
I'm currently set on beta testing 10Gbps when it comes to my country in a few months.

lmao imagine actually being cucked by your nic

I've got fibre all the way from my home to the street, where it is telegraphed to the good old Royal Mail on Mount Pleasant and delivered to the Americas by boat in a timely fashion on 3-4 weeks...

blame Thatcher for that
techradar.com/uk/news/world-of-tech/how-the-uk-lost-the-broadband-race-in-1990-1224784

It's not MY NIC.

The ONT has an ethernet NIC, i'm provisioned 1024mbps, but i'll never see anything over 945mbps due to the ONT giving me an Ethernet WAN connection.

No option for an SFP+ WAN, or an ONT with a 2.5/5/10GbE WAN.

Why? They've had like 30 years to fix it

While true, there have been opportunities since then to fix it, and they're still fucking it up today, can't blame that on Thatcher.

That is good internet.
I pay a fuckload for 100 MBps here in Spain and it's about the maximum (with a 200 MBps option, but that's a fucking fortune).

How do I achieve DAT latency? My own server with direct cable connection?

better router? better network card? better antennas?

>76 Mbps
BT cuckstomer detected

fiber ISP and no wifi.

I'm not even directly connecting to my router.

I'm going through 2 different 1gbps switches and over 80 feet of CAT5e runs.

Also, geographical location, I live near one of the largest hosting areas in the nation. I can get 2-5ms ping to official Valve servers for games.

kme kme, meni sad doslovno riknuo internet dok sam ovaj speedtest obavio

Exact same thing with me, good days I tap out at 40-60. Best ever was 70-80 one morning. It's incredible how slow 1mbps and also how I even put up with it at all

This is great internet. Try playing any online mobile game on 32 Bps, you people will never understand my struggle unless you try.

based

Ssshhhh don't tell anyone but I get 120mbs download with 200mbs upload and 1-5 ms. And I'm from a third world country.
All for the price of just 4$ monthly.

and people say atlanta isn't a shithole

>0ms
Nice bullshit

>this is considered very fast internet
No. Very fast is if you have about 4Mb/s upload and 1Mb/s download. You're just spoiled as fuck.

Similar thing here, but instead of my home connection it was my work connection.

At home I have 1gbps fiber. At work I had 1.5mbps DSL, which was generally only seeing half that.
We just got Comcast DOCSIS installed and are getting about 25-30mbps now and it's sooo much more usable, it's obviously still dog shit slow compared to my home connection, but it's a least usable now for normal web browsing. And even normal youtube 1080p streams or web conferencing.

Not bullshit necessarily, but yeah, it generally means it's testing within it's local loop and not leaving the ISPs own infrastructure.

Not bullshit. That test was taken from a physical server in a data center. The Speedtest server was probably right around the corner.

What's the difference between playing LAN games directly via cables and just using WiFi at a really close range?

Is there a difference?

no need to be jealous

Attached: superfast.webm (576x448, 975K)

Wifi is slower due to the extra steps involved in sending and receiving packets. Generally adding anywhere from 5-20ms round trip compared to ethernet.

When are we ever going to see 0.01 ping?

Also what network card should I use?

>Also what network card should I use?
any recent intel, unless you want 2.5/5/10GbE, then you should look at the new Aquantia cards.

amazon.com/dp/B07B3G4S4J

I played via WiFi a 2001 shooter multiplayer game and it showed 0 ping. The 2 PCs were just 4 meters away from each other. Sadly I didn't get to test it with cable.

Many older games didn't show ping down to the ms.

For example, anything under 50ms or 25ms would show up as 0ms, anything between 50 and 100ms would say 50ms, etc.

Wifi itself always adds latency, just test it yourself with a speedtest if you want.

I get 6ms ping with wifi, 2-3ms ping with ethernet.

It is. Im a middle class person in rural new england and i get 45 mbps

Gotta love gigabit upload, you're welcome public tracker plebs. Enjoy.

Can one use WiFi and Ethernet for the same PC? (No/Yes)
Can I use Wi-Fi for my phones cables for my PCs and laptops?

Why would I be jealous?

sorry, i'm not jealous of lies.

Or, your VPS.

>£32 per month

>Shit is just as slow when using a wifi dongle Ethernet cable
to top it all off my flatmate signed a 1 and 1/2 year contact with these scammers. I barely ever got 5MBps as advertised...

Attached: Screenshot_20180920-191146.png (1080x2160, 125K)

No need to be jealous.

10gbps, 5gbps, 2.5gbps, 1gbps.

5gbps, 2.5gbps, and 1gbps can be done on CAT5e. 10gbps requires CAT6a.

>he still isn't posting his result ID.

Stop assuming my gender shitlord.

You could just post it with your result ID and no one would question you.

Rural area in Romania. We have fiber optic here across the entire country. Finally one advantage to selling this shit country to wealthy investors.

Yeah, but that's a dead giveaway fake, it's much harder to fake something that looks legit.

The dude could literally punch in the exact numbers he has on the screenshot

Yes I know. I'm just saying, you can generally spot a fake, even when doing that.

Which is why I post webMs for proof.
