oh boy! yet another thread about apple!
go fuck yourself OP
I guess they're not poor enough
What the fuck kind of shit startup is this?
>Like, this is just California Syndrome, right?
Yes.
>"Tech Startup"
>Web Devs and frontend shit
Windows is dog shit
Mac or Linux all day
There are no Macs with many RAM and xeons, and there is no Autocad and Solidworks for GNU/Linux.
So, fuck you nigger, I have to use M$ shit just because some niggers at solidworks aren't even trying to make it work on GNU/Linux
If I'm doing programming I'd rather have a unix-based system than have to work on fucking windows
Windows is great... If you're not good with computers or want to game
If you need to program, you use linux, or shell out for a mac. And macs offer enterprise support, no one offers desktop support for linux systems and no ones gonna hire a linux support admin because one programmer wants to use linux as their OS
pretty much always been the case that devs prefer unix based os, mac has just been the most convenient choice
>there is no Autocad and Solidworks for GNU/Linux
Well we're talking about software development, not your hick shit
>going through job description
>meet all the requirements except one
>"we use apple macs so you need to have an extensive knowledge of how to fix and troubleshoot software and hardware :)"

Windows 10
It's the new corporate laptop. It's the same reason Dells were everywhere last decade.
It's functional POSIX, it can be expensed, can be bought in large numbers, and it works well enough for corporate.
>feminist frequency
topkek
macOS is POSIX, which is a must for tech professionals
has enterprise software support
the best display
quality hardware that looks and feels great
Windows just can't compete.
>macOS is POSIX
Are you sure about that?
>Mac
>Unix-like terminal
>Windows
>dumpsterfire
GEE I WONDER WHY
>decent *nix terminal, unlike Windows
>non-development software support, unlike Linux
>decent hardware
Gee I wonder why
Windows is complete dogshit. There's a reason *nix-based systems have been around forever.
So although Mac is surprisingly good for development, it's still generally agreed-upon that Apple is a blight upon mankind, yes?
>it's still generally agreed-upon that Apple is a blight upon mankind, yes?
Mankind? No. Technology as a whole? No. Progress? Yes. As innovative as they are, they're only advancing consumer products while enabling retarding retards to keep tarding. wuts a computer? Fucking faggots.
>Mac over PC
>PC
>Personal Computer
Differentiating is important because macs are not personal computers as they are not your personal property.
Fucking checkmate
>using a wintoddler OS for literally anything an adult would do, instead of using a superior UNIX OS
is that way, OP.
I'd rather use a 10 year old Mac over a modern Windows machine. In fact, I actually fucking am.
Trust me. There are plenty of retards on windows too.
>recommend me a laptop user
>xps13 is a good portabl-
>I won't spend more than $300
>Well then here's a shitty Acer
>Why is this so slow and shitty?
We had Apple IIs in school back in the 90s, fucko
>playing Oregon Trailer on an Apple
>they weren't the gaudy displayed Macs, but the shitty Apples
>even had those weird gumdrop iMacs
Maybe because you're comparing an actual shitty computer with a shitty OS.
Found the frequency.
Some britbong company called Rare Ware
Should have recommended an ex-leased Dell Latitude or a Thinkpad
Just use cygwin or wsl if all you care about is muh terminal
What are the actual benefits to using Macs?
most startups are there to launder money so they go with macs
Good things about mac:
basically BSD, which is basically linux.
Usable terminal
Has a functional package manager
Trackpad means I can actually use my laptop without a mouse
Bad Things:
The rest of the OS
I feel like we rally too hard against macs here, to the point where some posters here seriously believe windows is anything better (not to mention the absurd idea that you actually use to develop). This is false. Macs are great if you aren't paying for them.
love that shit
>>decent *nix terminal, unlike Windows
what is powershell
kek
Reminder to report the 20 daily apple shill threads.
Only the Mac runs all 3 OSes
iOS programming easier on Mac also
That's because it's either windows or Mac. I would rather have a Unix system.
Since OS X, so about early 00s
>functional package manager
tfw wrote sudo apt install qbittorrent in girlfriends mac and it sputtered errors.
Nope nope nope nope
Full command was :
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL raw.githubusercontent.com
brew cask install qbittorrent
That was first and only time I got to use mac terminal
Good, they’re weeding out the idiots who only know MS-DOS commands.
>go fuck yourself OP
you could expect that from a macfag :^)
If you had any relevant job experience, you would know that Windows and Linux are not perfectly suitable for professional environment, where you need things to actually work, and not ricing your minimal desktop with anime wallpapers.
Windows is shit regarding programming, and Linux is shit regarding hardware support, while you can install every dev tools on a Mac and use professional softwares that will never be supported on Linux.
apt is the package manager on debian/ubuntu based distros you mong
underrated
>using wrong packet manager
>somehow its the OS's fault
All the tech companies, startups or not, that I've worked for/with in London prefer Macs.
>macOS is POSIX
you mean the insufferable hipster cunt startups trying to be the new twatter or whatever?
It's a Unix like environment with hands off support. Trying to get Dell or Lenovo to acknowledge faulty hardware is like pulling teeth, and the upfront cost savings don't justify the lost time when something inevitably breaks. Also, finding people competent enough to work effectively in a Linux environment, yet normal enough to work with a team is difficult, not to mention expensive. Also, just because someone is a competent programmer does not mean they know shit about hardware anymore.
