I haven't been able to change default programs for at least a month

Windows 10 LTSB 2016 doesn't have this problem.

>tfw updates disabled with based wpd.app

India should be fucking nuked with extreme prejudice. This is the work of someone called something like Suryavarman Srinivasan who got hired specifically because he costs $300/month, it doesn't matter that he didn't touch a computer before getting hired at his code sweatshop and his entire programming experience is on pencil and paper.

>user why are you on 7 SP1 still?

>tfw I have a separate work computer for mission critical stuff where I have unplugged the ethernet cable so windows can't fuck my shit up during a render task

Windows 10 Enterprise on the Semi-Annual (Targeted) Channel does not have this issue

same. I thought it was a me problem but hey it's not

Windows gives you the world and you whine about some arbitrary bug that is a minor annoyance, classic Jow Forums.

This is much more likely to be the result of Microsoft adopting Agile(tm) development processes. Someone had a sprint deadline to meet.

I have this bug
At least they're talking about it so it gonna get fixed, meanwhile I found a workaround:
You can create a new key with ".somefiletype" as name in the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/
Then the default program should get saved properly

If people didn't whine about it pajeets would have ignored it

Attached: faggot.png (458x534, 14K)

what if I want to change the default for an existing file type

Idk about that
I've only had this problem with other file types, the "Pick an app" shit wouldn't save the default program

this. but I kinda had heard it was a new windows 10 feature to deprecate manual file associations

Because it couldn't do shit to begin with.

and inevitably the program I want to associate with a file type won't show up in the settings app's list

Based Pajeetya Poodella is slowly killing MS ever since he became CEO in 2014.

so its bug, huh? i thought it was just microsoft trying to force their shitty grove app on me

it's pretty sad that I have a dual boot linux partition and I have way more trouble out of wangblows then my hobbyist OS. windows is kill

>nuke another nuclear power
good plan m8

i wanna fug kuro

No we don't. He ruined his career trying to cross breed a tablet OS with a desktop OS.

just bought a used win 10 laptop this year because i had to replace a dead work computer.

good thing this never turns off and never updates.

Is this really what winshit has devolved into? Thank God for freetards. Linux has become so advanced that all my hardware works out of the box now and it runs all the software I need.

>wanting the sweaty, bald, cokehead jew who yells a lot to come back
Isn't he also the absolute animal who allowed disasters like Windows XP and 8.1 to exist?

Everything was fine 'til 1809 update, m8

Okay retard.

wow retard

t. seething freetard still waiting for the year of loonix
XP was better than the bloated trash that is 7

Has there ever been a second service pack to Windows 7?

But she's so young!

Attached: 1541325226253.jpg (1194x2048, 220K)

It's not that big of a deal, one of our pajeets just accidentally shit into our internal repository

but delicious brown skin......

she has the eyes of a bitch in heat

>XP was better than the bloated trash that is 7

XP service pack 2 wasn't bad, but god help you if you connected a machine running it to the internet.

At this point they should just start over tbqh famms

>using freetard fud
XP was a security nightmare, but it was still Microsoft's most successful OS, and a damn good OS at that. Freetards and Macfags shat on Windows 8 because they were too stupid to realize that you could download Classic Shell and never have to touch Metro bullshit. Stay salty, archbabby.

good thing all i use my computer for is to play videogames and watch porn

Yeah. Too bad everything is getting switched to their shitty settings app. I don't get why they need to phase out control panel.

>anime

Been using XP SP2 from 2004 till 2017, you're full of shit, stop clicking on "you're the 99999999th visitor" ads.

You can just ask for another

I haven't had a single problem out of my Linux install since I installed it. this is the third time windows just broke after a update.

those fangs look like they'd feel amazing

my work gave me an xp machine because they though tit was broken, it was just infected with some malware

Windows is now a byproduct, it's mantained because of the Surface tablets and enterprise clients. Microsoft doesn't give a shit about desktop anymore because the real money is on server stuff (Azure).

>normie
ironic though

>download Classic Shell and never have to touch Metro bullshit
7 still was a much better experience. Doesn't make 7 good tho. Windows have been in a constant state of 2 steps forward, 2 steps back since 2000. Always added some nice new feature, but went full retard on others. I feel like that about free software and OS X too. Hard to stay excited about technology when what I thought was great becomes absolutely shit in newer versions.

Classic shell was never a good experience, especially when you could simply keep using Windows 7.

Windows + Office in businesses is still a major, major cash cow.

Yeah I knew it. This shit is so annoying.

7 is almost as bloated as Vista fuck off. Everything after XP became bloated like a tumor.

>Hard to stay excited about technology when what I thought was great becomes absolutely shit in newer versions.
I know that feel.
>Classic shell was never a good experience
Not true. If you wanted polish you could buy Start8 for $5 and it worked as if it was part of the OS.
>especially when you could simply keep using Windows 7.
8 was better in so many ways. It was snappier, and Explorer actually became good.

Windows XP was prettier than 7, you can't change my mind.

Neck yourself, race mixer

Brown anime girls are tanned japs or whites.

I miss aliased fonts being the norm

The current developing generation cannot keep up with what their talented sempai created.

Control Panel is legacy code. They can't edit it reliably anymore so they just went with a rewrite

But not major enough to be anything other than one of many 'experience products' at Microsoft. Windows is not a major player in Microsoft anymore

Office for Mac is reaching feature parity, and as of the latest release has release parity. Office is actually becoming more important than Windows.

Azure's hypervisor and the Xbox both use NT.

Uhm?

Its just like Windows 10 except no bullshit (except windows bullshit)

Tell me Jow Forums, when will it be so?

Attached: ReactOSTB.jpg (1230x1000, 244K)

Is there a decent way to control these fucking updates other than to stop them completely? I am sick and tired of my PC rebooting itself and closing all my shit to force update instead of asking me first. Nothing I have tried prevents it from constantly going fuck you I am updating whenever I want even if you try to change the away period and shit.

Who the fuck thought it was acceptable to force reboot with no options to stop it?

I installed version 1803 recently and encountered the same problem. How do you fuck something so mundane up?

install gentoo

That's windows server 2016

Is there a reliable way of testing operating systems other than having Guinea pigs use it until shit breaks? Cuz seems like this should have been avoided

Enterprise edition lets you manually update when you choose

They do have guinea pigs use it until shit breaks, that's what the Inside program is supposed to be for.
Insider users warned them about both this and the file deletion bug, yet they still got pushed to """stable""".

And this isn't all, now they've managed to downgrade Pro licenses to Home licenses by "accident": theregister.co.uk/2018/11/08/windows_10_activation/

Fuck, I just installed Windows 10 in a VM today and experienced this. I was trying to set Sumatra PDF as default for .pdf files. The .msi version could not be set as default by any method. When I installed Sumatra from the Windows Store it worked fine!

we say "YIKES" now....

yeh. sounds a lot like my ANDROID

Hey I posted a thread about this.

Attached: fileassociations.webm (2048x720, 1.37M)

What about right clicking on an example file and using the Open With menu to set default?

doesn't work either. You have to revert the specific update that broke it.

Only thing that worked was an application like 7zip that has file association settings. You have to open it with admin privileges and set it that way.

2035 but until then just use windows in a VM

OH YEAH. YEAH THAT HAPPENS TO ME!
cant they just uhh... fix it in an update, or whatever...?

Go back to your containment board pedo.

Windows IS malware!

can you test with a Windows Store app such as VLC installed from Store? I am thinking this is not really a bug and will soon be a "feature" that only allows modern apps

This, even 7 is a malware
