Some Chinese company did one of those, even using a motor to pop the camera up. It makes the chassis weaker, allows ingres, and as a mechanical system it's prone to failure.

Phone calls are uncommon for many people, there are these things called texting and instant messaging now. Having to plug in your headphones to receive two or three calls a month is no big deal.
