I starting watching this show this week and I like it. If I have computers running, however, they need to serve some purpose or they're just wasting electricity.

name of the show?

Serial experiments Lain

I live in a one bedroom apt with my gf, barely enough room for my microelectronics gear :(

Let’s all love Lain though!

>the absolute state of Jow Forums

one of my earliest memories is a teacher asking me if I wanted to end up alone in a room full of electronics and no friends. Still can't tie my finger around that comment, I was 6-8 but and it ended up being so accurate. Currently work in disk and tape storage repair and recovery. Facility filled with hardware, all kind of tools and diagnostic units, microscopes and a clean room. Got my own desk there, surrounded by hardware. Only 10 people work there, I feel pretty damn privileged. Building my own homelab at my moms place, having Lan cables run through the entire house at 42 runs or so. The only time I am not surrounded by the whirring noise of fans is on my way to work and back.

> Does anyone else want a room full of computers they never even use?

So, yes.

>my gf
Pathetic creation.

I kind of have that, i have two raspberry pis running pretty much constantly, two ThinkPads, a hackintosh laptop, a desktop PC and a Chromebook 2-in-1

photo?

I had 2 P4 boxes, a box with a single core AMD athlon, a bunch of catV, and a couple of switches. It was mega comfy when I could hear the whirring. Sadly since summer ended and I have returned to college I disassembled it and am working on getting better hardware

Why wouldn't I want to use them?

What do you do with all of them?

>spoonfeeding newfags
>being newfags

Nothing really useful, mostly mess around with their hardware and old software so I can distract myself from the depressing mess that is my life. Sometimes I LARP as a 90s macfag and shitpost from the PowerMac G3. Every now and then I frequent BBSs on the XT too.

Looks comfy

It's a piece of software which uses the Jow Forums API to turn Jow Forums pages into a telnet BBS. Also has an ASCII image converter, but it's been broken for years.

Agree. Based and Redpilled.

i have 3 computers in my room, only one is runnig

you know, once you're old enough to work you can just buy a bunch of useless computers. it's not that special.

Why not?

>Uresai yatsura on ld
Are they playable?

Of they have a cool and retro look I wouldn’t mind. My main pc is powerful enough to where I’m wouldn’t need a seperate pc for what I’m doing.

I have a surplus of money and time... So far i've built 3 gaming rigs, only one of which i mostly just use to browse porn. I also own over 8 laptops, I buy one whenever I see something better. I also have a collection of vintage PCs for nostalgia. I am a computer hoarder.

>want
probably not, yes I guess.
>have
yes.

>Just threw out 10 computers
>Still have almost 20 in my room
I've already been living the dream for years already. You may envy me now.

>Are they playable?
Of course they are. In fact, the image of Lum the little monitor is showing in is coming straight off the LD. You can see the player above it.

what's your powerbill like?

No. I hate clutter, and like my house to be easy to clean.

Very fucking expensive because I live in a country that's absolutely cucked by utility companies. But it's an average bill for this shithole.
I don't have all the computers on all the time, as you'll understand. The only one that's always running is a Sun Ultra Enterprise 250 hidden under the desk, which uses around 150W.

I have to upload a video about this damn player at some point.

cr*nge

I agree. I recently downloaded it

im surrounded by 1 laptop 1 desktop and a 2 raspberry pis
computers r less obtrusive than they were

macs, way too many keyboards/mice, all those crt's, my phone probably has more power than most of the hardware sitting there combined

it's like you're not even trying

Thats a pretty rad setup

criticism, criticism, criticism

Attached: 83740.jpg (600x600, 71K)

Kinda, I'd love to have a setup like or even

it's like $20 worth of computers, knock yourself out poorfag

>my phone probably has more power than most of the hardware sitting there combined
too bad you can't actually do anything useful with it since phones are literally just media consumption toys

why want the life I'm already living

Attached: IMG_9024.jpg (3024x3024, 2.19M)

I have over 60 computers. 10 of which are first gen i5 or newer. 20+ dual core laptops, 20+ single core laptops. Not in the same room mind you but I am used to this life. Might be recycling some Dell D410 and D610 (single cores) soon. Looking into schools with computer hardware classes I might be able to give them to for hands on experience with dismantling and building.

"i'm a permanigger, the post"

i already live in this the hellscape you described
Trust me its not that glamorous

I lived with a creature like this.
The attention to detail here is quite accurate.

Seems like that teacher was a bit of a cunt. But most are, considering their low pay and having to teach a bunch of other peoples kids.

No.

the amount of these degenerates that like SEL is astounding

what a poser

Attached: 31547882.jpg (350x351, 15K)

PLEASE get the fuck off my board you worthless shitters.

Attached: is9dwrm.jpg (720x1280, 273K)

how pointless.

one of the only shitty discordfags i ever had to block and hated with the fury of a thousand suns used the name lain.
he was such a dumb useless piece of shit who cared way too much about how other people felt/talked about him, was gay, and couldn't hold a conversation about anything without it turning into some political garbage

shame such a trippy show attracts a bunch of insufferable headcases

this but unironically

it looks cool but i know that ill only give attention to my main computer and never use the others like at all
so no.

My main computer is a core2duo oddly enough. Though I have i5 and i7 systems. Just havent switched it over to a newer platform yet as it does 80% of all I want except for gaming. I have a 3rd gen i5 3.4 with 16 gb ram ready to go for it. Just need to spend the day working it all over to the new hardware.

Attached: Running no issues.png (790x507, 89K)

I'll post some pictures in a proper thread once I have my new rack up and did some cable management. I am embarrassed by this mess right now. 42 runs, no cable management, wooden rack and two cats roaming around.

> computers r less obtrusive than they were

Sure, for general purpose it does not take much. For many years all I had was my rooted droid and my thinkpad t420. Did not need more, gave away a decent i5/8gb/1060 laptop I got for my birthday because I really did not need it (nor like it). Now our house is slowly turning into a full sized lab because I am learning networking with hopes to someday get into design/architecture. Both for career and hobby purposes I am surrounded by hardware and love it.

She was a cunt, but also right. Not soon thereafter I went to special-ed school until HS. Didn't help that my stepdad was a neet who leeched of my mom and spend all his time behind a computer since comm64 days. All in all I am happy now, being surrounded by hardware is comfy. All my real friends live on the wire anyways.

Childhood is liking Serial Experiments Lain.

Adulthood is realizing Texhnolyze makes more sense.
