Fired.

don't ever use FURRFOX shit
dude its completely broken
the only good one is ESR and mobile version version because you can install extensions on it

>he doesn't watch youtube via mpv + youtube-dl

obsessed

>buffers unfocused tabs playing videos
>still can't allocate resources properly per tab
Chrome is the ultimate browser for streaming and muli tabs don't @ me

>*uses 3GB of memory to display one Jow Forums tab*
heh just buy more RAM kiddo
you're not poor, right?

If it weren't for the font rendering I'd switch back to Chrome to be quite fucking honest

What are you on about? Firefox fonts are shit since they have to stick with free fonts

not him, but you can use bitmap fonts with firefox. ive got all text getting rendered with terminus. its beautiful.

lol, fonts look like shit on firecocks

What's that? You like blurry shit?

ITT, things that never happened.

yeah but why are you watching 2 youtube videos at the same time

Firefox looks worse to me. Also, were is the comma on Firefox?

this one doesn't have this problem

that's because you use windows, and at least on 7sp1 arial looks like shit (it's phat and chunky, absolutely disbusting)

wtf r u doing
use liberation sans

Chrome with 11 extensions vs Firefox with uBlock, 1 tab, same video.

huh

lol it happens all the time, watch a netflix or prime video and leave it for an hour or two and watch your memory

R U poor? Buy more RAM

I have 16GB. the problem isn't that it uses that much ram. the problem is that after 2.5GB+ firefox begins to act sluggish.

Are you blind? Firefox is so much better.

Sure thing firecuck

I have 16gb of ram so that doesn't phase my laptop

Attached: Firefox_Logo,_2017.png (2001x2066, 397K)

Is firefox still capable of delivering security updates at least? Or do any of the forks deliver good security updates? Because I'm already refusing to update windows because of a year of terrible MS quality updates, I'm kinda falling back on my browser to mitigate any other issues.

OP is exaggerating but back in days i could have 1000 tabs open, a picture loaded on each of them, with no problems. nowdays the RAM consumption is ridiculous

Fake and gay

Doesn't happen when you use Hooktube instead

> doesn't know what a pool allocator is

tssk

my firefox uses 2 GB just to play no youtube videos.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM.

moron

>upset botnet user

RAM used by bloated programs is worse than wasted - it's like you never even had that RAM.

>he doesn't have a simple sh script to play videos with mpv+ytdl

Attached: 1538814791554s.jpg (250x245, 10K)

actually i bet you could do that in windos as well

#!/usr/bin/dash
echo
echo ' audio only [ a ] worst'
echo ' audio only [ aa ] best'
echo ' video [ v ] worst'
echo ' video [ vv ] best'
echo
read -p ' ..? ' INPUT
case "$INPUT" in

mpv --no-config --ytdl-format=worstaudio[ext=webm]/worstaudio -- "$(xsel -b)"

o-ok

>OP is exaggerating
No he's not, if you load 50 pages and close most of them Firefox will keep in ram.

ITT: ramlets

Attached: diggoo.png (211x260, 95K)

I may be a RAMlet but i don't understand how this problem has only increased over the years when optimization should have occured

Attached: asda.png (405x332, 35K)

again, that isn't the problem.

So basically the same resource usage.
Also you don't benchmark browsers on sites with dynamic and uncontrollable content because different stuff will load into memory and be rendered which affects results.

Use Firefox ESR.

for me maybe not but for all of you who fell for the 8/16gb meme tough luck

Attached: Immune.jpg (849x805, 151K)

It's because of massively heavy javascripts that every site uses.
webdev cucks (plenty of them here, so expect then to cry about this post) will claim it's not - but the average website does LESS than a website 10 years ago but will no longer run on a computer from 10 years ago, simply due to the bloated always running scripts.

>implying standard firefox isn't a botnet
>also shitty overall compared to superior Chromiumâ„¢

>install umatrix to get rid of bad scripts
>every unvisited page is now blank
>have to hunt down like five different domains to see the site, often have to refresh in between to see the next one
the problem is quite deep, too

>Use Chrome
>Scroll through websites with more content than plain fucking text
>St-st-stutters like a bitch

>Use Firefox
>Scroll through the exact same website
>Smooth sailing

EUfags get super pissy about websites not catering to their GDP rules and blocking them - but for some reason are totally A-OK with XSS.

XSS needs to die even more than datamining doe (both do)

FF uses the OS's font thing, if it sux it's no FF's fault
chrome does it's thing because of sandboxing and on unix-like OSs this results in fonts being shit as chrome's thing is inferior to freetype's superior font thing

Just download Nightly or use Palemoon dumbasses

Attached: BD87D68D-AEC0-4976-9C40-B61AB23E0011.jpg (640x952, 223K)

>Palemoon
Absolute trash

what i meant was that older FF managed the memory better. nowdays i have to use extensions to avoid memory leaks

Works fine for me without extensions. I don't have memory leaks either. But if you want to release cached shit then use the built in feature in about:memory

Attached: mem.png (1947x358, 42K)

>close to those 2 Youtube tabs, leaving just an empty tab open
>still uses 3GB of RAM

>So basically the same resource usage.
Yeah, if you don't take extensions in account. Each one takes 30-50mb in average.

Am I the only one who thinks that playing youtube videos on 2x speed sounds like trash on Firefox?

It cuts out parts of the audio every now and then. Playing it on Chrome sounds fine

Why do people buy 32 GB ram and then shit themselves when their total RAM usage goes over 2GB?

use based brave user-kun

Not using opera?

Fake and gay

>Not using user.js for FF and Ungoogled Chromium over Chrome
I mean, it's up to you to let shit you don't actually want being run without you asking for it

Firefox has built in reader mode. So I'll stick with that thank you very much.

Just installed this shit thanks for the info OP.

Newb here how do I get that shit on my wandows?

probably bat / batch script
duckduckgo.com/lite/?q=bat mpv youtube-dl

if it didn't have a variable you could just put the command in a desktop shortcut's Target
like for example redrhift -PO3000

maybe try turn off multiprocess or make to 1 or 2 instead of 4

Just drag and drop

ram is cheap anyways

good for you then. mine keep amassing memory and releasing it very slowly for no known reason. if it wasn't for Tab Data extension, it would keep eating my RAM like crazy
>built in feature
nope. doesn't do shit
that doesn't work in long term

Sounds like your install or OS is fucked if about:memory didnt work for you.

again, for the 5th time, the problem isn't that people don't have enough RAM.

Takes a lot of power to send off everything encrypted to the FBI
