I've had the V20. It died in 7 months without being abused.
Also the V30 is better in every single way unless you want a replaceable battery. The battery on the V30 lasts significantly longer.

To be fair, LineageOS doesnt support the second screen or the quad dac as well as some other small things. Also for some reason there is screen retention and while you can reduce the effect using sfilter it still bothers me.
I think having a removable back and replaceable battery is a pretty fucking huge differenc

That's the trade off, but the fact that the v20 had the combination of being cheap, having root/roms, headphone jack, card slot, removable battery, and was notchless was the reason why Jow Forums memed it.

The manufacturer refurbs do not have these issues, because they were fixed before being resold.
