there was a page explaining the advantages of neofetch v. screenfetch, but it's "being rewritten"

the gist of it is that screenfetch is full of spaghetti code and hardcoded arrays instead of actually fetching info, and it doesn't use bash to its full potential. screenfetch has also been maintained by dozens of people across the years and quality suffered as a result. neofetch is cleaner and has more features (most importantly it allows you to display an image your waifu using w3m).
e.g. look at the way screenfetch identifies your distro. it's a mess.
