Is it just me or are they coming back in fashion?

Don't know - if i want something very expensive, I'll get a laptop or smartphone. Personally, I bought myself a Samsung Tab A 10.1" w/Pen and my mom a Samsung Tab S2 8"

Ask in

>Flexible tablets that wrap around your wrist like a bracelet and can be carried/worn at all times

brilliant

>arm tablets
for what purpose

Attached: b8695336.jpg (600x442, 108K)

Nothing wrong with ARM.

What are the best apps with interfaces designed specifically for tablets?

JUST what is the current state

Android
>no updates even worse than on phones
>no apps are optimized for tablets anymore not even Google apps
>vertical only apps
>Only high end ones left are Samsung Tab S and Huawei MediaPad
Windows
>every budget tablet still on shitty outdated Intel Atom
>Surface is still an overpriced lottery

Attached: 1514963370273.jpg (411x412, 26K)

I think everyone realized tablets are useless because anything you can do on a tablet you can do just as easily on a phone but the phone fits in your pocket and has a good camera

always liked them, reading manga on tablet is comfy and more screen size for phone games

Tablets are essential for people who constantly read.

For most people no. Phablets are king still. Readers, children, and neet shitposters like me still have a use through.

>tfw posting on that tablet rn
the MediaPad M3 is top-class aside from it still running 7.0

Attached: t39g.png (925x1200, 857K)

cant you force update android with root and patience

Not gonna like, the Tab A is one of my favorite purchases, but I use it at work for Mixing Station Pro to control the soundboard so it's made my life way easier

I still have to clean up all the porn off my Tab E 9.6 before I ROOT it and flash Pajeet's Oreo GO ROM onto my tablet and yes the developer is literally Pajeet

I don't believe it would be worth it to bother trying because as of yet nobody has created even a single custom rom for it.
EMUI 5 with a custom launcher and theme is comfy enough for now.

Yeah, Apple even introduced a folding tablet this year!

Attached: bend.0.gif (250x167, 477K)

tablets are great. i use a phablet instead of one though for the most part but when i was in law school it was super useful

thats why you find a droid tab with ROM support like the Mi Pad 4

Nope, they're a dead product that never had a clear audience nor use in mind.

Yeah and they are after the desktop market.

Thats what e-readers are for. Enjoy your eye cancer

and enjoy the sweet new vertical only apps

>what is low brightness
>what is blue filter
>try to read manga on an ereader

>only samsung makes an decent android tablet and that was a while ago.
>no good catalog of android tablet apps.
>android phones are just getting bigger and bigger.

or the true darkness that is amoled
plus it plays movies

xiaomi

I still have my original tab s 10.5, I havent updated, why exactly would I need updates if everything works fine

Surface and iPad Bros saved tablets. Meanwhile Google already pulled the plug on android tablet

Haha wtf rounded screen corners on a tablet? Are apple retarded? Whats next new macbook with rounded screen corners?

inb4 your device gets hacked by a malicious ad.

I have third party browser

It's just you.

Well you don't have to which is great
Tablets suffer from severe market saturation, every tablet made in the last 5 years can do the same things just fine and while you always want faster performance with a phone, you don't really mind two seconds longer load times when opening up YouTube on your tablet
Professional work is very niche and covered by iPad Pros and Surfaces, but then again you don't a need a new Office machine every 2 years

Even Amazon is showing more support to their Android based tablets
weird timeline

Hi there.

Attached: Boyue-Likebook-Mars-1.jpg (480x480, 23K)

It just works, vlc and mxplayer just works, waterfox just works, youtube just works

Same but went with 9.7". Kinda regret I didn't get the 10.1"...
>no updates
I can update the OS myself if I feel like it. No one asks for updates, especially ones gimping your processor.
>no apps are optimized
I literally don't care. Every single app I use on my tablet runs brilliantly.
>vertical only apps
Those will be vertical only on a phone as well. Name one app that is vertical only on a tablet but not on a phone.
Can a phone replace paper in my college life? Can it act as a comfortable e-reader? My tablet does those.

I use surface pro

I'm thinking of a Surface Pro 6 to replace both my ageing Macbook Air (2013) and Nexus 9 in one shot.

I think the only problem i have is no USB-C/thunderbolt.

Lucky for you since there are 100 of Surface clones with thunderbolt 3

Can't even get a small sized wireless charging phone, why would I buy an oversized phone?

are you retarded? that's been the entire argument against Android tablets since their outset, but I'd rather use an Android tablet that at least let's me update it through 3rd party ROMs than by a walled garden from a company that intentionally sends "updates" that slow the device down to "protect the hardware"
what a load of shit

Tablets are good for watching video when you are doing stuff on a regular computer.

The tab s2 8 inch isn't too much and the screen is really good and has a mid range processor

>bought fire 8 for 60€
>disabled ads
>custom launcher
living the dream

It's a shame the battery in my shield tablet went bad. No other tablet has reasonable speakers.

replace the battery then
also check out Zenpads, they typically have good speakers if you insist on not fixing the battery on the Shield Tab

I would love to be able to replace the battery. Unfortunately the battery isn't replaceable.

check eBay or amazon and see if anyone is selling replacements, then take it apart and replace it like a man you space monkey

how did he get up there?

What is the equivalent of Nexus 7 these days?

Mi Pad 4 with Lineage

Is the Nexus 7 2nd gen still salvageable?

Mine seems to have ghost touch syndrome.

I don't think so, mine seems to be dying, one sensor at a time. First, it was ghost touch, then gyroscope and recently light sensor.

Pixel 3 XL, only 0.7 inches smaller

>notch
no thanks

apple at least came out with a new design, it's foldable

Latest-gen Fire HD 10.

Perfect for reading manga.

Mi Pad 4. It's the exact same size even.

Replaced My Nexus 7 with a Tab S2 10'' with LineageOS 15.1 on it.

I miss the Honeycomb look for Android. It was such a nice UI. I remember being mad as hell when my Nexus 7 second gen got the 5.0 update and they swapped the two dropdown trays to the one unified settings/notification tray phone style.

Got a Tab A 2016 for a year now, I use it to browse Jow Forums and read PDFs.
its great, fast enough, and the battery lasts surprisingly long

I dunno about back in fashion but I unironically want a new iPad

Can we just stop with the "android apps aren't optimised for tablets" meme? When I play a video using the android VLC app on my 10" Samsung, does the video play in a phone-sized window in the middle of the screen? Of course it fucking doesn't.

That meme is spouted by iFags who use shitty pajeet apps. The only app I couldn't run on my tablet is WhatsApp because it demands a device with a SIM card.

Sale on Fire 7 tablets. Decent tablet to buy for the parents?

>android apps aren't optimised for tablets
Some aren't (i.e. the UI is a bit all over the place), but most stuff is and even then it is only optimisation.

I have a nexus 7 2013, what's the best rom for this tablet or maybe other thing ?

no, get a Zenpad Z10 off eBay, much better device

They seem to be selling for 150, as opposed to like 30 for the Fire ones. Plus there doesn't appear to be any where I am.

that's why you order it, its also a much better device, Fire Tabs are children's toys compared to the Z10

>Fire Tabs are children's toys
Perfect for the parents then, as was my point.

OSRS

Attached: DE8C5WTXsAANa6o.jpg (1200x628, 110K)

its obvious you're hellbent on getting one, so why ask if its a decent buy? I'm telling you isn't but you're dismissing my point, and I HAVE a Fire 8 HD, but whatever man you do you

>€60 for two basic tablets
>€300 for two better ones
Seems like a fairly clear choice to me user. If I was using them personally then I might reconsider.
I want something that is at a similar price point and you are failing to offer any suggestions.

are these for a kid? because the way you worded your post seemed that they weren't
if their for children then get them, but if its for you I wouldn't recommend it

I've already made mentioned in two of my posts that they are for parents. Bye.

>bye
wow, seriously go fuck yourself and never return you faggot

I like tablets, but they usually can't run what I want, there's no keyboard, and the battery is garbage.
Android and iOS tablets make you long for a phablet or phone. Windows/Linux tablets are underpowered and lack keyboards unless you get a case. There's no winning unless your parents can't afford to get your highschool ass a smartphone.

whats the ratio

Too lazy to calculate it, the screen resolution is 1404*1872.

Just got a used galaxy tab 8.4 pro, love it so far, but I can't get enough screens so Idk.

WHY CAN'T APPLE JUST ADD A FILE MANAGER

REEEEE

Attached: 1454117072562.gif (480x430, 247K)

i thought they did

It has 10/10th of the functionality of a $20 wallmart android phone native file manager.

why use it then? does the ipad actually have anything that sets it apart from other tablets? specifically the pro

it's unironically the best device for drawing.

i mean i have a wacom tablet so i question this but can you hook it up to a normal computer (windows/ gnu linux) and use it as a drawing tablet that way? isnt the screen too glossy/ slick for drawing?

*folds laptop in half*
heh, nothing personnel kid.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Attached: Comb07112018022656.jpg (720x1182, 206K)

>for gaming
I'm sure this will ruin their candy crush experience

ok but for drawing?

>claim to have 120Hz for maximum fluidity while drawing
>literally can't even smear 60 frames a second
>most $20 flea market monitors have 5-10ms response times max
LMAO

Attached: Naamloos-2.png (350x350, 138K)

I'm good with computers but clueless with tablets. I'm looking for a cheap tablet for games/Netflix in bed but all the cheap ones have a resolution of 1024x600 which seems really low

If it's for netflix, at least check beforehand that the device supports the required DRM modes. Many cheap chink tablets can only stream 480p video from netflix due to not being widevine certified.

Don't even, beside the tab S3 there's really nothing good going for tablets right now. iPads are locked down overpriced pieces of shit with low RAM and no mSD support and budget tablets fall apart in weeks of use.

It's better to just get a phablet like the note 9 and tough it out with that until HOPEFULLY we see the tab S5 with a 4K screen, 8GB of RAM, and a snapdragon 855 for around $500 next year. Doubt it tho.
