Is there any installers that have i3 as a choice? I hate having to install arch and have to manually install what I need but I don't have to install bloat like kde or gnome which pulls in a shit ton of dependencies.

that was just my experience. I don't expect slackware level of stabillity (even though it should be like that). why has debian fallen so behind when it came to stabillity? debian 8 was the last time a debian install felt like it would never break.
