Used AMD GPUs in 2018

im flipping my 290x for a cheap upgrade because ive got game specific issues with it, and im toying with either a 390 or a fury. in $current_year, how do these cards stack up on the used market compared to my 290x and nvidias offerings?

dunno. i think some used market websites offer a search function for this task so you can compare with others

AMD gpus are know for their fine wine attribute, so you should actually be going backwards from the 290x in what they have release.
Try an hd6970, or older for that sweet sweet fine winery.

>6970
my 1060 shits on it

>my 1060 shits on it
Enjoy your annual performance loss while the hd6970 fine wines itself into gtx 1080 ti tier performance.

lol

390 is fine for at least 5 years to come as long as you want to live with some compromises

currently you can play many on ultra and a lot on high

i mean performance

im looking to get the best upgrade i can for around £130-180 total. the 390 is 130, the fury is 160.

What issues are you having?

390 is almost identical in performance to a 290x and just as much of a power hog. Not worth it when you could be going for a used RX 480 or something like that.

Fury is a ~25% upgrade over a 290x. Roughly comparable to a current GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580/590.

None of these are worthy upgrades if you have a functional 290x

fury is limited at 4gb tho huge no no nowdays

there is one specific game that gives me regular BSOD on DX11 mode even after clean wipes, so ive been having to play it on fucking DX10. i would rather like to be able to actually use the graphics performance ive got.

fury is comparable with 580? since when?

>one specific game
that's a software issue and not related to the hardware.

going by this chart. If Fury X is 20% faster than a 580 then regular Fury is comparable to a RX580/GTX1060

forgot chart

and still tis limited by its vram

>that's a software issue
doesnt exactly matter if its unique to the card ive got now, does it?

No point, barely an upgrade. Fury's are completely overpriced because the hbm makes them decent for mining.

the fury is a £30 upgrade given what i can resell my card for

Depends. If prices are similar to a RX 580 8GB, then the RX 580 is the better buy. Also because it is newer.
If there is a big difference then the Fury is still worth considering.

For equivalence/sidegrade get a 480 8 GB for around $220 USD or a 590 for $280 USD. 590 is basically the same except it's fully unlocked if you're interested in OC. Only upgrade would be a Vega 56 and that's jumping up to at least $350-400 for ref and $470 for AIB. Used on ebay goes for ~$320.

I can't say what the market is like in Bongistan but the Fury is likely overpriced and underperforming by compared to newer gpus. Just tell me outright how much you're expecting it to cost you.

ive stated as much. im expecting my card to net me about 130, and the fury is 160 used.

I wouldn't pay that much for your card.

Not worth it, only 4 GB vram and after OC, probably not far from a RX 480. You can get a 8 GB RX 480 used for way less.

Actually now that I'm looking RX 580s are sometimes cheaper than 480s, a bunch going for $75 USD right now. Good fucking deal.

going rate is 120-160 here

ive not seen anything like that on the market here.

i get a 2 year warranty on all the cards i buy used, im not voiding that for an overclock.

>going rate is 120-160 here
Asking rate you mean.

>void warranty by overclocking

I went from a 290 to a 390 390x to Vega 56
Get a Vega 56 the 390x was great but had insane power and thermals whereas the Vega was as fast as my 1080 which I went back too because it had a better cooler
Vegas great tho if I got one with a decent cooler is be all over it again
Waiting for 7nm now tho

Reminder that Nvidia stock prices is plummeting because they have warehouses full of unsold GPUs. Nvidia CEO alleges that AMD also has full warehouses.

160 for a used Fury is too much when you can buy a RX 570 8GB for the same price new.
Only buy used if you get a bargain.

570 for 160? Literally where

>RX 570 8GB for the same price new.
link?

What is your budget OP?

Currently the only cards i would consider are:

used: 980ti, 1070, 1080, 1080ti
Vega 56 and Vega 64.

Anything else is just not a good upgrade from a 290x.

If you plan on buying new cards, then the Vega cards are the only ones priced correctly now, since all Pascal cards are going up in price after NV stopped manufacturing them.

Turing is just awful. So avoid at all costs

Your $250 gpu shits on a $370 gpu from half a decade ago?
Wow... Novidia is in fact dominating.
Grats novidiot. I hope you enjoy your purchase.

if you have game (or driver) specific issues with an r9 or rx series radeon you will probably have them with a new card too. Imho its better to wait for something new if you want to upgrade to amd.

well shit, thats a really good price.

>290X
user you should've sold months ago when everyone was still mining like crazy. I sold my 290X for $350 and got a 1070ti for only $80 more.

aah well
