Unless you are a gaymur or a NEET scum, you shouldn't have a desktop pc in your home

ideal setup for a normal citizen in 2018
>thin and light laptop (not a fucking thickbad)
>some monitors to connect and dock the laptop for those times working from home
get rid of those power-wasting behemoths. they don't really belong in homes for personal computing anymore.

I agree op
T.dev

X230 is literally perfect with the docking station.

Just buy a 500-800$ machine bud

>normal citizen

I like being able to repair my own computer. Laptops suck for that.

>power-wasting behemoths
I pay my own power bill and disable all power saving features. Fucking zoomer.

I like having the option of easily upgrading and repairing my system

that's a weird way of spelling "your mom"

>ideal setup for a normal citizen in 2018
fuck off i dont want to be a normalfag you normalfag

This is truly shit, even by the usual shitpost standards.

>power-wasting behemoths
>Caring about your computer's power draw while you leave the AC on 365 days a year

>easily upgrading
you have to buy a new motherboard and CPU every significant upgrade
>easily repairing
more like replacing the broken part
the broken part probably adheres to a new standard so you probably have to buy a new motherboard and CPU anyways when something breaks

Fuck normalfags and to hell with what they want.

>see this normie post at 4channel.org in 2018
im out guys

Since we're talking ultraboooks, which ones are worth taking a look at? Ideally I'd like a laptop that's very similiar in form factor to apple's macbook pro, but I dont want to shell out more than 400 euros for one, so I'm looking for a used unit.
I've got a raspberry pi server at home which I ssh into to do all my work, so my current 200E shitbook is sufficient , but it's kinda ugly and the fans make a lot of noise even when just running XFCE and a terminal emulator.

How else am I going to save 5tb of music and movies for travel and in case the internet goes out?

Not on a fucking laptop or a single external hard drive I can tell you that

>Not on a fucking laptop or a single external hard drive I can tell you that
1x 10 TB external HDD for data
1x 10 TB external HDD as backup

Imagine being so poor you can't afford both a laptop and a desktop PC.

>bought budget motherboard with LGA-1155 socket and slots for DDR3 RAM in 2013
>GTX 660
>750W PSU
>almost 6 years later
>Get GTX 1070
>Playing modern games with no stutter at high end settings, no resource bottleneck, no noticcdable technology incompatibilities
>however, HDD is taking a noticeably longer time to read after almost 6 years
Those, uhh. Those major upgrades are a real setback for desktops, huh.

idk user i need a 1080ti sli that yaint getting in a FUCKING ULTRABOOK and when im away i use thinkpad as a remote for my pc

>when im away i use thinkpad as a remote for my pc
how do I do this?

Ideapad with Ubuntu is literally the best option for normies. My parents used to pester me endlessly for tech support when they had Windows. One day they borked their install and I just put on Ubuntu with KDE, and I don't think they've noticed yet

vnc or remote login I think

>being this wrong
You're a macfag aren't you? About the only person who could be this tech-illiterate is a macfag.

>Have terrible speeds compared to PCIe
Well done fag

Win10 Pro for rdp

I'm doing shit from my laptop, have 3 home servers and shitposting this message from a phone while taking a shit. Not counting my girlfriend's desktop because she's a "designer " and I don't think that's a real job.

Perfect for what? Shitposting on Jow Forums, and watching muh animu? Yeah ok. Also... Incel inside - just kill self.

You can repair your own laptop, if you aren't a brainlet and "repairing" for you means buying a new component.
That being said nothing sets you apart from iTodlers except buying power. You can change component, they can buy new shit. Aren't you special?

I have a beefy desktop at home and I use it for:
>work
>games
>media

Tell me why should I trade it for a slow-ass puny laptop.
The difference in the electric bill by the end of the month is negligible.

>Caring what computers other people use
Kill yourself faggot

>thin and light laptop
agree
>some monitors to connect and dock the laptop
bloat, men who do real work use single laptop screen
