Everyone's old phones are still perfectly adequate unless they've dropped theirs and cracked the screen. To remedy this Apple needs to push a new iOS update that makes the iPhone 6 and 7 series almost unusable and reduce the iPhone 8's performance a bit as well.

>no idea user...
Note9 prices for a device comparable to a S9

S9 prices for a device comparable to an see (aside from CPU)

S3*

Why do they go out of their way to show the notch when this looks so much better?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 107K)

>$999 for a phone that does the same shit phones for the past 8 years have been doing
It's a mystery.

FPBP

$1K is a price barrier many people aren't going to want to cross, and charging that amount when we're fast approaching peak smartphone is incredibly stupid and greedy.

Not to mention that it offers little over it's predecessors and the competitors are often going for half the price.

Notch

Holy shit lol

I felt mildly retarded for spending $600 cad on a xiaomi mi mix 2 just over a year ago, imagine spending twice as much to get a worse phone with hueg bezel and added notch

Attached: Screenshot_2018-11-19-15-43-51-915_com.brave.browser.jpg (812x272, 40K)

I'm retarded and that's pounds, it's $1260 CAD, jesus fuck

My iPhone 6 does the same shit since I will never use facial recognition.

XS Max 64GB starts at $1519 CAD.

Their sales stagnated cause they don't have new markets to sell their products and the people aren't switching over. It's the same people who upgrade every year which is only an American trend.

> iPhone XR
> $750
> cheap

lmao, it's a literal downgrade from the iPhone 8 since it doesn't have 3D touch.

The last good iPhone was the iPhone 4

you meant iPhone 5/5S. Those things runs fine until this day.

>virtually no market left untapped
>for the vast majority of users the performance of 3+ year old phones is more than adequate
>continuous price increases with no particular innovation to justify it
Why would anyone buy the new iPhones? Or any new $600+ flagship, for that matter.

This is honestly so silly, I've avoided buying notched phones, but if I had one this setup to ignore it is fucking dumb

And lower res screen

It makes some sense. With a persistent status bar, the upper centre of the phone almost never has any visible content.

to be fair, it's only lower resolution to the 8 Plus. The regular 8 has inferior res.

The new features aren't worth it to the point where most people finally contemplate that their current phone works perfectly fine.

>longphone
>fine
>you're holding it wrong
>fine

The smartphone market is already saturated.

That's why they choose to milk more from their existing userbase via price raises.

>longphone
name one modern smartphone shorter than the iPhone 5.

Got a 256gb iPhone 8 a year ago for $730, can barely find a 64gb XR for that right now.

Agreed. All it will do is cause in burn faster.

Not really, it's just that the rest of the screen will degrade while the black part of the status bar will not, so you'll get un-even aging of the panel.

That's flagship price.
Just at a time when flagships have gone up in price.

Nothing happened!

Fuck nu-Apple.

iPhones are bad, OP

>apple releases new phones
>flagship costs $1600
>loyal applecuck is in tears, for the first time ever he doesn't have the money to buy this year's top model
>decides to skip this generation altogether
>after 2 weeks, the pain has mostly subsided
>after 3 months, he begins to realise that this is just fine
>he doesn't actually HAVE to buy a new phone every year
>it was just a hype he kept falling for
>now he realises how many thousands of dollars he wasted over the years
>resolves to never spend more than $300 on a smartphone ever again
>apple sales plummet because their customers are finally waking up
>former applebots are actually enjoying life instead of clinging to shallow materialism
>apple is destroyed because of their own greed

Probably won't happen but it would be nice.

The problem with the notch is it eating up a huge chunk of the notification icon area. Turning the whole strip black does not return that bar space.

Apple releases the absolute best budget-phone on the market in the XR... so screw them?

What's wrong with the consumers?

>$750
>budget
get the fuck out of here

too expensive, and glitchy

bait

The question is why aren't MORE people buying iphones. That's why the stock fell.

>when you realize you could get an S9 for less than a ""'budget""" iPhone

Attached: C8y8fBQVoAAbc9b.jpg (768x432, 40K)

S9+ at that.

Attached: its all so tiresome.jpg (497x450, 32K)

They haven't innovated anything, the android desktop analogy is superior to the apple icon grid, and they are chasing after dumbass fashionista shit like notches or bezels that are so thin you accidentally register touches

How far will their stock sink before they start whoring out user data to Google levels of debasement

The only thing iPhones have left is looking great in ads, they look like toys in-store

What if it was an LCD instead of an OLED?

apple releases a new phone every day and we consumers are tired of it

People are fucking sick of the hamster wheel. It has been coming for a while.

based

definitely wait to buy a new phone with this news

>Why is nobody buying the new iPhones?
the notch
and the prices

For the same price, a Note 9 is twice as useful and looks better. The only thing worth buying from apple right now is the iPad and macbook.

One of the few time i see a bad apple commercial.
These phoes look generic and "fat".

They release them way too quick. Most normal people don't get a new phone every year. Especially now with how good the screens are (relative to 5+ years ago) and how every person now slaps a lifeproof case and screen protector on their phone immediately after purchasing it. They got greedy, and finally the general public is wising up to it.

Attached: jeremiah johnson gif.gif (235x240, 1.85M)

the screen resolution isn’t great but the guts inside the phone are top of the line. You’re being disingenuous

You have no idea what you're talking about. iOS 12 improved the performance of every single device as far back as the 5S from 2013.

it brought the performance back up to what it was on those devices when it was released.

Ios12 basically just removed the weight that the previous updates had put on them.

I paid like 500 dollars for my Sony XZ Premium, and even that is overkill as fuck for a phone. (wanted it for gaming so I paid extra for high specs)

Isn't that a good thing? an update that gives you back the speed of your device from when you purchased it in 2013, along with all the new features and improvements of the versions since then.

Not only that but Tim Cook is a Supply Chain COO, that got promoted to CEO. Supply chain is all about maximizing the methods to profitability driving down cost of development.

Tim realized that since a lot of Apple products do their own fucking thing, contrary to industry standards, they need dongles. And he uniquely realized that they could take this faggotry to the next level and dongle the shit out of everything in their ecosystem. So he did.

To get into an Apple ecosystem, you need more fucking dongles than an av-actress can take dicks on a gangbang porno set. Tim also realized that people are fucking sheep and are after the Apple branding, they will put up with anything cause they've always been on an iphone and their friends are all on iPhones and certain social media apps like Snapchat & Facebook work way better on iPhones than on Android phones--and certain popular app developers for the longest time developed exclusively for iPhones.

Its a perfect storm of profit: massive userbase, heavily invested, locked in and deeply integrated ecosystem, three to four degree of separation lock-in due to social network propagation, and highly resistant to change. Apple could and thereby did, jew the ever loving fuck out of their consumer base. Then went further and started incrementing the shit out of their phones. We knew they always played catch-up with Android, but they decided "nah, we're gonna copy Intel too and do 5% YoY updates to the phone while charging 1500 dollars for it."

And so you come to today, where a phone that cost ~800 in Android space for similar features, now costs ~1200 instead and you need another 100-200 dollars in dongles for it to work with other shit you may have. The phones themselves cost around 125-150 bucks to make (when you account for bulk ordering of everything). So you're getting like 90% profit margins while pissing off everyone.

Now that they're $1TN, they're too big to fail; they can do anything and not give a shit.

DELID DIS RIGHT NOW

>now that they're $1tn
you mean $840bn haha

Attached: shitsonfireyo.jpg (480x445, 27K)

>they're too big to fail
Same thing was said about Nokia and they went from top dog to almost nothing in 3 years.

Apple's main profit is phones and if that fails, it will be another Nokia, but 10x more devastating.

You both mean the 6s+ 128gb

Macs failing would be really interesting - suddenly Linux would be the only unix desktop worth half a damn.

>They got greedy
It's not that simple: they have shareholders to please, and the only way to appease the finance god is to grow. Problem is that Apple has basically saturated its market, so to get that green plus on their market trend they either try to steal other manufacturers' clients, or make their own clients pay more for the same products. Apple hasn't released neither mid range products at competitive prices, nor they publicly showed sales numbers (just how much they made out of it), so guess which one it is. It's just the nature of the current turboliberal economy, and of the cancer that's choking the world with his dick that is finance as a whole: you either grow, or you immediately die in a fire. Apple never diversified, never tried to step outside their little happy playground made of dumb fat cows ready to be milked, and now they're forced to show growth when they already conquered every piece of land in their reach.

Same pixel density though

what would Jobs be doing if his pancreas wasn't a faggot? Has Apple innovated at all since his body went on strike?

Maybe people took conservashit advice and stopped making one leisure purchase every three years in the hopes that they could afford their $1500/mo health insurance

>You have no idea what you're talking about.

No, I know exactly what I'm talking about. Making the old phones run better obviously hurts Apple's new phone sales. People are less inclined to purchase a brand new iPhone when their old one just started working better than it has in years. If Apple wanted to sell more phones then they would've made them all run slower instead. I'm sure it'll be remedied after their next quarterly earnings report comes out though, the shareholders won't stand for this shit.

I'd argue Apple never innovated. They didn't invent shit, they always found a better way to sell what someone else invented. For every successful Apple product there's always an unsuccessful product with similar features made previously by someone else that didn't enjoy the marketing firwpower of Apple. Apple never made anything worth the MSRP they asked, and products themselves were always been made to eventually break down. Apple has always been the finest of the con artists. After the recent flop of the new iPhone lineup everyone loves to throw around the Jobs' quote about the sales people and the product people, dreaming of what Apple would do if Jobs was still at the helm instead of the current faggot. Everyone however forgets how Jobs has always been a sales person: product people were always been under his will, and they produced the shiniest of the shits, so that the sale people could profit out of dumb people that believed in Apple like a religion, and things just haven't changed. Apple market share has always been small in every field, but dictated rule because they managed to make status symbols out of their products. While previously competition lagged behind in terms of marketing and overall bling of their products, nowadays the situation is radically different, with the whole market that managed to catch up with Apple (it would have happened regardless of Jobs' death), so it's just more evident when Apple does its thing, but I'm also on this side of the fence, so maybe I'm biased, I don't know.

based

no it didn't, you colossal faggot.

t. iphone 6 user who had to switch to nexus 6p because anything from 2015 was unusable

>ishit
Found your problem.

Nobody here truly understands how bad it really is. When The Notch(tm) first released, people in this shithole figured apple was DONE. Xiaomi had recently released the first mi mix and eaten Apple's lunch before they'd ever had a chance.
And then notch emulator apps appeared.
Apples arrogance. It is unrivaled, and unparalleled. There is no other company that behaves this way and lives. Except for them. Maybe this time they finally eat it. I doubt it. We aren't that lucky, and I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone reading this that we are officially in the dark timeline.

Honest answer?
The old phones are good enough.
The whole flagship smartphone industry is on a downturn because the older models and $200-300 smartphones do everything people need.
