no, ssh is a remote shell protocol, like remote desktop / RDP, only with text
it also does other cool things, like port forwarding, dynamic socks5 proxy server, file sharing (sftp), ability to send/receive streams in real time (such as piping from/to a remote machine), etc
if you need to do something with a remote machine, ssh is the most important tool to have, it's so general that you can comfortably use a remote machine for any purpose while only allowing connections to ssh (since you can pipe anything else through it)
