Chair Technology

Since we spend over 12 hours a day at PC,
does anyone of you have experience with ergonomic chairs like Stokke/Varier?
They are around 300$ so you're probably all too poor for them, but it's worth trying

also chair technology general thread, I guess

Using a old IKEA chair, but planned to buy a better one within the next months. Thy for the names, I’ll check them out for sure. And 300$ is fine I guess since you spend a lot of time on it.

>And 300$ is fine I guess since you spend a lot of time on it.
Amazon has them at 174 for black friday but I fear being clled a faggot in the office for it

If you're afraid of sitting an a normal chair than get a standing desk.

Those meme chairs are retarded.

Or you can buy a fucking laptop and be comfy in your bed.
Any extra heavy lifting can be done by desktop serving as server or an actual server.
It's 21st century, technology should work for you, not the other way around.

>than get a standing desk.
then*

I work in office, I sure as hell won't spend money on a gay desk

>and be comfy in your bed.

Some people actually work and contribute to society.
Shocking, I know.

My office won't let me bring in my own chair I had to opt for a cushion :(

>My office won't let me bring in my own chair
Move out of North Korea if you can

I got this over two years ago after getting tired of buying new chairs every couple years: hermanmiller.com/products/seating/office-chairs/mirra-2-chairs It's been solid. Still comfy. Was way too expensive though.

Are you serious right now?
I also have a job, but I like to be in bed with my laptop instead in my work room. And as I said, all the heavy lifting is done on my server.
Tell me... What kind of work do you do that you physically have to sit in front of the PC.

My last contract was finished on a fucking hotel balcony in Tenerife.
What do you do for a living?

ahahaha wtf 600$

looks rad tho
how's your back?

This looks like cowgirl pose

>Tell me... What kind of work do you do that you physically have to sit in front of the PC.

I could do 80% of what I do from my bed yes, but I am required to be in the office so...

why would you regret it? my aeron has a 12 year warranty and is comfy

I stand in front of my really high desk and it costed me 0 dollars.

Bro this is literally what the kneelers they have are like at adoration

could you try in english?

Fuck all that meme shit. But i personally have been looking into getting a leap v2 to uograde from my v1. 300 online in any fabric color i want. Should i? Dunno if its really worth the forward and back sliding arm rests.

>fuck that meme
>I want the leap meme
Ok.

Attached: saitamaok.jpg (375x305, 24K)

I also go to the office, mostly meetings, sometimes meeting the clients. Also as my current work is in IoT meme, I have to go to sites sometimes.

But still, all the actual work that I do considering integrations of API's into different BMS's could be done on a fucking beach with something like a laptop or even Surface Pro.
What do you do? What "Real work" in this industry requires you to physically sit in front of the PC?

I already have a leap. It's great but the fabrics getting worn. I just kinda want a new one but i know theres a slight difference in ergonomics between them.

The "chair" up there is literally a meme.

Again I don't need to.
I am just obligated by my company to sit in front of the PC, in the office, to do the stuff.

>Again I don't need to.
>I am just obligated

See this? And your first response was

>Some people actually work and contribute to society.
>Shocking, I know.

Why put yourself on a pedestal like that?
Do you really think that just if your employer forces you to be in the office is somehow worth more as a "real work", then my job where they just want results?

I'm not shitting or you now, I've been there 8-10 years ago, but you have to understand that it looks really funny when someone giving you shit about "real work" just because he has to be in the office.
Be good at what you do user, few years will pass and you will be the guy doing shit on a nice beach.
You still didn't told me what the fuck do you do in your day to day operations?

I've used it for a few hours at someone else's desk.
I would say it's not as uncomfortable as it seems. It didn't quite feel like I was sitting for most of that. It's more like assisted kneeling. I was busy so I guess I didn't really do a proper evaluation.

So if you buy into the benefits that's good I suppose.

Reminder that there is only one objectively correct chair to use.

Configure web application firewalls,
To patch all the shit that "agile" "devops" who never heard of OWASP do in their containers

Hahahaha shit... My condolences user. This is a very ungrateful job to do. Been there, done that for few companies. Are you doing it for one company or are you specialised in certain WAF providing services to multitude of companies using the same solution?

I also have this chair. I think it's compulsory.

The latter. But it's more than one product and field (ddos policies, load balancing etc)

But can it do this?

This chair is for manlets

Where are you based, US?
You don't have to be in the office to do that, and you know it.
It's a good jump board to doing something else I'll give that... If you know how to levarege it. But that's on you...
How long have you been doing it?
Top from the old fag that was in the industry from 80's.
You will get much better paying job if you switch companies and you can have references from the past jobs/integrations you did.
Trust me your pay will skyrocket.
That's how I started... Now, I don't know your age or anything but dude.
I'm an old Lisp fag, and all the buzzwords you hear now in the meetings...
I'm doing my shit in Chicken Scheme. It compiles to C.
It runs fucking anywhere....
Job is, say to do the integration to their BMS.
Usually it's just xml, obix or plain. CSV.
I do fucking everything in some Lisp like language and provide the C source.
Then a team of code monkeys write a Java spec or whatever.
Honestly, today... My work day is about 4-5 hours at most.
That's a month coding and everything else is like you said. Writing dumb fucking documentation how the spec should look like. They rewriting it in Java or C++.

Put everything you did on your CV and spread it around. You could have some nice paying job, just doing the documentation about manufacturing or other processes.

This chair is literally for tall people. Have you ever sat in one?

I'm also looking around for a decent chair. Anyone know any that's good under 200$ that's not the ikea markus? Yeah i know it's worth spending 500 for a chair that will last you years, but currently looking for something short-term ~3-4 years and it isn't a "racing" chair cause i already go fast

baited lamo

wow...tehcnology really is a flat circle...

Is it worth shelling out for a Herman Miller or Steelcase?

I sit a lot because I work from home and want something that will last forever and feel good, but shelling out 600-1200 burgers for a chair I can't try in person is a lot to digest.

Also idk if this thread is the right place, but are standing desks a meme?

Yes, standing desks are a meme

Depends how often you use them. But have a good floor matt for standing and they're pretty great. Standing up for a couple hours is way more beneficial than sitting the same amount of time. It's almost like a little exercise in itself, pretty great

Attached: 1478798204501.jpg (495x538, 68K)

The reason your body hurts is because you're physically weak. If you can't pull minimum of 225 you have bigger problems than your fucking chair. Jesus Christ. I see this thread every day, are you people fucking retarded? Go lift weights and drink some goddamn milk.

>t.chad

>t. 5'2

i have this chair. it's not comfortable at all.

What don't you like about it? I have the same chair, just curious.

>t. pulls 250

This is the most boomer post I've read

standing desks will give you varicose veins, which is worse than being sedentary.
School teachers get varicose veins all the time simply because they spend all day standing writing on the whiteboard.
Which is why you probably heard from your school teachers that they always try to move around a LOT specifically to prevent varicose veins.

A treadmill desk is the solution, not a standing desk.

Funny this thread came up. I just bought an HM Aeron yesterday used. $280. Sure beats spending $700-$1k

I run, fgt. Have fun lifting weights when you can't even outrun me.

THIS IS NOW A HM AERON SHILL THREAD, IT HAS BEEN MENTIONED AT LEAST 2

Laying on my stomach for hours over the years has fuck with my neck and spine to the point where I can't even lay on my stomach for more than a minute without giving me neck pain for weeks. Looking at the image just hurts to look at.

I think this is the most you ever read..
Be proud of yourself zoomer.

run away monkey

those chairs cause problems
its better to get a timer and get up and walk once around the room every 10 minutes

Explain, what kinds of problems?

Op here
Thanks for the advice Boomer poster

you just mad you can't do that

Attached: table-jpeg.png (1472x936, 716K)

in order of severity:

1. sustained flexed positioning of knees under tension resulting in fatigue of knee extensor, knee flexor and hip flexor muscle groups
2. tilt of spinal axis forward out of vertical, leading to abnormal compensatory alignment of all axial structures including head orientation organs
3. lumbar muscle fatigue due to "free torso" effect under prolonged sustained action especially with distraction away from self-monitor due to CRT work; resulting in lumbar disc compression problems

prolonged static positioning is bad, but prolonged static positioning with parts of the body under load is worse over long duration of 1 to 2 hours

skip these odd chairs which can lead to weird orthopedic habituations while doing nothing for development of blood clots; get a $2 timer which cues you to get up and walk around every 10 minutes, or even walk up and down a flight of stairs

most of that infographic is bullshit, btw

>THAT FEELING WHEN SITTING ON A $100 STAPLES SHITCHAIR

Was this made by the wage cage designers?

The price of good chairs are fucking inflated holy shit. When will xiaomeme start making chairs?

Half the workers in my office have standing desks, and when I started working there they were all "oh user don't you want a standing desk? It's so much cooler and they look so nice." Except that shit seems annoying as fuck. I have no back problems whatsoever from the way I sit, and I've been at computers my entire my life. One of the workers is this short super fat girl.

Half the time I see just crouched over on their tall chairs looking miserable; other times, when they're standing, they don't stand still for long--they seize the opportunity to walk somewhere and chat with someone because they're already fucking standing.

It seems like a horrible idea and concept for most people who don't have a legitimate back issue.

And phones explode but people keep buying chinkphones

underrated post

>rips your abs
Don't you mean back muscles?
I'm not an authority or anything. I barely use the human body but I don't see how this would affect your abdominal muscles.

How are those gayman chairs? Besides looking atrocious. Was actually considering one during Black Friday but I think they must be terrible in summer.

marketing ploy

How so?
Mesh chairs were extremely uncomfortable when I tried them in store.

I have a bad back, just because all chair backrest were complete meme, and ass pillow was too short. Also all public transportation had a meme seats.
What do, Jow Forums? I already got a shitbox, and back is slowly getting into correct position

Very few people need a truly ergonomic chair/desk/contraption. In fact, will go their entire life with bad posture and not be negatively impacted whatsoever. Most people will simply live their life as people have always done. Only occasionally will some random person have a real genuine need for a ergonomic.

The obsession with ergonomics is a lot to do with marketing and health fads based on what seems to be pretty spotty science.

Who else just slav-squats on it in front of the PC?

what about this: every 2 hours get out of chair, walk for 5 minutes, stretch, do 30 pushups (proper), then get back to work?

280 is a good price. I've not seen below 300 as I'm in the market for one.

yeah, don't do that.

I WANT HER TO STEP ON ME

Trips of truth
Though I've been using a twenty burger ikea chair and meaning to replace it, it has been fine for the most part
Went there and sat in so many chairs but liked it best because the back is flexible

Niagara a shit btw

kek

I want to lick her feet

I wish normalfags would call me a faggot. You never know what you have until it's gone.

Lol 2 hours. Make that 30 minutes.

not that user, but I work in industrial automation and one of my coworkers went on a company-paid trip to some IoT conference and his report back was some cringe-level shit. He presented it well, it was just clear that absolutely nothing about the conference was new, and it was just recycled, decades-old techniques with silly buzzwords tacked on.

I use pic related. That's unironically what I have been sitting on for the last 5 years.
This was the cheapest stuff at my local IKEA.
Maybe one day I'll can afford a nice chair for my desk at home.

Attached: adde-chair-white__0174114_pe328020_s4.jpg (500x500, 9K)

How cheap exactly was it? I have no IKEA in my city. Just curious.

I grew up with a roller version of one of those. They're pretty fresh for a change from normal chairs but they get annoying after sitting in them for a while because you can't move your forelegs and it starts to rub on your shins.

Bought a gaymen chair and put a folded IKEA poang foam pad in a pillow case sit it for hours. Ots fucking nice

Converted to USD, about $12.
And pic related is my "main table" / desk.
I got if for like $5 second hand from some guy who bought it second hand.
The table is too tall for it to be comfy to type on the computer for hours but on the other hand it was cheap AF.

Attached: index.jpg (300x300, 4K)

>$700
Yo, fuck this shit. I would better scratch up few hunders of dollars and buy a fucking herman miller.

HM embody here.

It's comfy af.

>herman miller.
Are those any good or just living up the meme name?
These seem to be to chairs what topre are to mechanical keyboards.
These chairs are the price of few months worth of rent.
