Do you dualboot? if so, why?

Do you dualboot? if so, why?

no
my machine never reboots
muh uptime

i have a windows 10 VM i start up when i feel like playing games.

No. I only use openSUSE on my ThinkPad and Windows 10 LTSC on my desktop. I hate dual boot

No
Because Wine is enough

what boot loader are you using? looks archaic

no

virtual machines exist

Nope, I have Arch Linux on my laptop that I use for most things and Win 10 on my desktop that I use for gayming and work / business related things.

all bootloaders are archaic
you're retarded if you dont use EFIstub

Wow, is refit still a thing? I haven't had a Mac in ten years now.

>i have a windows 10 VM i start up when i feel like playing games.
gpu passthrough?

Linux and Windows for development and compatibility

no, modern games run just fine in software rendering.
you must be at least 18 to post here

It's rEFInd now. Fork of rEFIt

Windows partition for DJ sets, Linux for literally everything else.

On Chromebook. I dual boot with chrome os and then use crouton to load Ubuntu

No, I only use Debian. I have access to all of the useful tools that come with it and QEmu provides the most powerful virtualization support I ever seen, so I can use that to run any other operating system. I use it to run Windows XP and Mac OS 9 for legacy applications. QEmu actually has better PowerPC Mac emulation than SheepShaver now.

Yes. I sometimes run Windows on my MacBook Pro to play some video games.

Good to know

Yes because vs and .net is a pos on osx

>modern games run just fine in software rendering
Nigger what

imagine being incapable of recognizing sarcasm

No
Because WSL is enough

WSL blows chunks compared to Wine

I triple boot between Debian for projects, Windows XP for games (too much Wine overhead for lil' buddy) and Haiku for educational purposes on my comfy dankpad.

>linux gui
but linux shines on the cli while windows is a gui based os

Why bother, you'll be on one of the OS's 90%+ of the time. Just virtualize whatever else you need.

I used to run Debian + Winblows, ditched Winblows altogether and haven't actually missed a piece of software it in months.

yes, but it's a hardware dual boot.
i made a selector switch that couples multiple hard drives to the motherboard.
1) with the power off, select the hard drive with the selector switch
2) power on the computer
3) done

you should not be allowed to own a computer

But WSL sucks at what Linux normally shines in, that's the issue

i'm a computer engineer.
some spare parts + boredom + "i wonder..."
= "hey honey, check this out."

i have an hd in my comp with win7 installed on it if i ever need it for gayms. i haven't booted it up in more than a year

thats no reason to commit blasphemy

I don't because its a pain in the fucking ass.
I want FULL access to all my applications at all times with no exceptions.

That said I make extensive use of VMs.

>i'm a computer engineer
>i wonder...
an """engineer""" wonders if switches work?

well, yeah.
"i wonder..." can be the begining of sentences such as "i wonder if someone makes a switch for this?"
turns out they don't. cool. 1 boredom proof of concept later-->idiot proof multi-boot switch.

naw

I do because I want to learn to do all my shit on linux but I'm a brainlet so I still do about 70% of my shit on windows

>t. I can't properly imply sarcasm so anyone who takes my word seriously is a brainlet

>Do you dualboot
Kek. Imagine not using multiple VPS services as well as multiple VMs running on your 16 gibs of RAM.

No, it's 2018 and even poor people computers can run vms

I used to dual-boot on my Android phone but it became increasingly annoying with the spread of storage encryption, and I only used it to check out new ROMs anyway. For the desktop I see no reason to switch from Windows 7.

Yes I dual boot gentoo and Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC
Windows 10 is for gaming and gentoo is everything else.

>For the desktop I see no reason to switch from Windows 7.

Cute Constanza.

Do you need a /s? Go back to plebbit.

I have to for cs classes.

Dual booting is a meme. Solo booting Linux + i3 on the laptop and solo booting Windows 10 on the desktop is the patrician choice.

Install rEFInd

>Do you dualboot?
Yes, xubuntu and win10 LGBT

>Why
Visual Studio.
Office.
Games.

>B-But muh kvm
I´m on a laptop, means no pci passthrough

Too bad you're then stuck on a shit base OS

the virgin dual boot
vs
the chad virtual machine

Lmao which CS classes force someone to dual boot? Utterly inane

I don't know if this counts as dualbooting but I got a Tails OS put on a USB drive in case I want to browse Tor.

rEFIt, an EFI boot manager originally made for Apple devices with an early EFI implementation. Its modern equivalent, rEFInd is the best UEFI boot manager available today and works on any UEFI system.

refind is comfy desu, only bootloader I could find for surface that works with the touchscreen

retard
retard
CrossCode runs fine on linux and is the only game that really matters desu

GPUpasstrough is glitchy, so I have to dualboot Win7 for most games, and some programs like CrystalDiskInfo.

Uhhh.. hellooo?? What the h*ck is with the child porn??! I'm stopping my advertisements on 4channell

Running MacOS and then using a Windows VM for games is the god tier setup, don’t reply to me.

yes, because muh freedoms but I'm also not a NEET.
>mfw normies love Windows only software

I have 3 SSDs, one for Mac OS High Sierra (hackintosh), one for Linux Mint, and one for Windows 10. All I do is browse Jow Forums on any os

same user. I installed gentoo and compiled ungoogled chromium to browse Jow Forums. Sometimes I boot into my gaming ssd (Windows) but usually end up just browsing Jow Forums in Botnet Chrome

Dualboot macOS and Windows on my MacBook Pro.

I run windows 8.1, it does everything, another operating system isn't necessary.

I think its cool.

>CrossCode
Didn’t think I’d see it mentioned here, very good choice user

at the moment yes. I plan on eventually just using windows on my desktop for games, and getting a couple of thinkpads as my main machines for work. just switch between them with a kvm switch or something

will be once I get pic related up, hard to find time nowadays

>t autistic and uneducated.
I prefer linux but college is designed around microshit

kys pedo just fucking kys
