I am dumb negroid but how the fuck do I connect two Linux devices and share files between them. I stick ethenet cable into them. It seems like they see each other. I don't know how to set IP or find one.

Use ssh. Find the IP of one machine (ifconfig in terminal), find the local address (will start with a 168) on the other machine type sftp username@ipaddress press enter and type your password. You’re now connected. Use standard commands (cd, ls, etc) to move around the remote computer, and put an l in front to navigate your local machine (lcd, lls, etc). Yeah receive a file use the get command (get -r if you want to grab a folder) and to upload one use the put command. Simple.
