now you buy other 16GB of ram and a way better cpu

>16GB
>not having 128GB in your laptop
But, I'll bite. Why have more than 8-12GB RAM?

Compiling Clang, GCC, libreoffice, GHC or many other packages easily require you that much amount of ram. Especially if you are building with -j and on a tmpfs tmpdir.

uninstall and install arch

Open up ssh in your firewall and make the password admin. See what happens for fun.

OP 4gb is the minimal for gentoo in my opinion. with ram like that just use a binary distribution

>i686
wow

Man, Arch was a walk in the park. It's OK, pacman didn't give me out, but this. This was the bane of my existence.
Probably should have worked with -j2. But this getting cloned in my thinkpad. I doubt I'm getting the beast that is LibreOffice.
It was intended to be installed to my TP R51e(Celeron M). But, it's keyboard broke, so I vent my anger on a VM.

>i3
>512MiB ram
Now you stop being a pussy and install it on bare metal

Broken keyboard, also
>recompiling the fucking kernel on a Celeron M
Just kill me desu

I don't think you understand.
Install it on your main machine.

Welcome, you've made it into the gatekeepers club. Now that you've proved yourself, it's time to get /comfy/ user: start using emacs as your interface with *nix - use it for everything, you've earned it.

And reconfigure all the packages? And backup all my shit? Man, just kill me right here.

Fuck, thanks user. It took time and a good set of failures to make it. Maybe it's time to work my Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment once more.

Now you can die as a free man

I'm being serious though, it's so fucking comfy having the same keybindings and theme effortlessly installed system wide. Just get x, and get EXWM for emacs and you're an official patrician.

I've built GCC on as little of 32 MB of RAM, it's just slower.

why did depclean remove my zsh install? I couldn't login without switching consoles and re-emerging as root. It should have been in the World file

the package removal clearly dragged in zsh. this is why you have to ask on every emerge command to avoid stuff like this but of course everyone using gentoo learned that the hard way

>recompiling the fucking kernel on a Celeron M
faggot. my celeron 420 does it on 30min max. it's just fucking kernel.

>the package removal clearly dragged in zsh
but why? I'm about never depclean again if it's that unreleiable. I don't even need the space

probably he didn't emerge --update --deep --newuse @world

Is it that hard to write --ask?

I honestly have no clue because I have no idea what you have installed. I've been using gentoo for almost 2 years and I never had reliabillity issues with depclean. did you use unemerge to remove the package then depclean or did you use depclean for both because unemerge doesn't care what the package depends on

I think what happened is I used changed-use instead of newuse after changina use flag and it messed things up.
>'ve been using gentoo for almost 2 years and I never had reliabillity issues with depclean
Ok good to know it's not typical behavior and confirmed an issue on my end. Thought you were implying that was something that just happens

Now fix this shitty install in order to run Gentoo on an encrypted ZFS setup without eudev/udev and with libressl and musl.

Uninstall gentoo

Now setup a WM-only desktop experience with a nice bar and wifi management, mounting USB devices, multiple monitor support and all you expect from a working desktop environment and use CLI for almost everything

I don't know with what black magic you did that, for me it's ~90'.
OK, but why?
No, (You).
Will make it so, I'll give it a couple of gigs of RAM and get busy.

Never tried a tiling WM, so sure.

teach yourself the nuances of portage and you'll learn to love it later

mineral water bathtub pc

uninstall gentoo

compiling is dumb. ur dumb

Uninstall and install Arch. Save 2 hours every update.

It's great because emacs keeps a list of buffers at your fingertips too, so navigating through windows/buffers is a breeze.

>ambrevar.xyz/emacs-everywhere/

Good luck if you do it, I can't believe how comfy it's been.

He's still behind NAT...
