Recently got HD599, my first open phones and I love them. Just interested in what makes open phones sound so shit compared to the norm when you hold your hands on the sides?

What's the difference in build? Closed phones don't sound as shit as open phones when you close them?

LOL, Stax being audiophool meme confirmed

A new meme was born in previous threads:

Stax incel - An audiophool who got memed into buying expensive electrostatic headphones which actually sound worse than a cheap mid-fi dynamics. Being a victim of buyers Stockholm syndrome Stax incel tries to defend his choice as hard as he can, but he always fails because you can't argue with facts. Stax incel is a part of "Most Valuable Goy" meme.

EQ'd stax

I can get the shanling m0 for 70€. I don't need it but it's fucking cute though. What do?

Bass is very detailed on those but the low mass of the diaphragm don't allow them to pressurize the air at the same level than dynamics

stax are garbage, even with eq

I was finally ready to part with three of my headphones in order to buy either an HD800 or SRS3100 system and also soldering tools(for my keyboards).
Then my 980ti burned a trace on the PCB and cooked the whole vrm so there goes that. There isn't a single GPU I want to buy outside of vega 56 and I have gsync so can't do that. Even if the 2080ti was $500 I wouldn't want it because you have no control over the actual cards behaviour it's so locked down.
Keep suffering playing a 2013 game at 70fps on a 144hz monitor with a gtx 760 and buy hd800 or stax or bite the bullet and pick up a piece of shit 1070ti or 2070?

The next best thing for the price after the Vega56 is probably a used 1070 for $250

Thanks for telling me what headphones to buy

My Vega64 hasn't failed me. Every nvidia card I had crashed and burned at some point; I have a drawer full of dead NVIDIAs back at parents place.

Attached: 1533355842212.png (1920x966, 2.54M)

it is good, it just clicks in shared mode on usb

It clicks in any mode on usb.

Right now I'm leaning heavily towards just keeping the 760 until it fails so I can get the headphones I want. I feel uncomfortable because this is blogpost as fuck and half off topic so guess I'm done.
Can't decide between L300 and HD800 anyway. I wanted to get the comfy aftermarket pads that oratory1990 uses and use his EQ but then clearly estats are very good or all the companies wouldn't use them in their flagships(mr speakers, sennheiser, hifiman, etc)
Yeah I just don't fucking want it basically. I went from pascal to the maxwell 980ti because I was so unhappy with how locked down it was, how the voltage sliders were just there to make you feel better. It's like buying an 8086k with a locked voltage.
I've wanted a vega for a long time because it has sufficient performance for me but if I want I can throw a huge cooler or hook it up to a huge rad and gain performance. It's a very unique card in that it takes anywhere from 100w to 400w without giving a single fuck.
no really takstar pro 82 is the portable to buy rn if you dont want iem or anc

Attached: maximalcomfy.jpg (3024x4032, 1.06M)

are the dt770s """"fun"""" to listen to, or is that a meme word anyway?

Attached: original.png (800x800, 149K)

There isn't much competition for $150ish at home full size over ears anyway.
They have a very strong V which people usually refer to as fun. I don't find a V shaped FR anymore fun than a planar(flat bass not boosted bass like 770) or a HD660S.
That said I've suggested the 770 to two friends who wanted to spend 100 and change on a closed back for their computer and they both love it and found them not only fun but huge upgrades over anything else theyve tried. If you're not coming from better headphones you'll love them too so

Is essence stx a good dac and at least a decent amp?

What's this about the DX3 being busted?

I swear to fuck if i've been chinked

Attached: 1505360967511.jpg (651x750, 53K)

exclusive only clicks when switching between songs with different sample rates or muting, which is normal

Everyone got chinked.

It has presets on its builtin rom for max performance vs some golden efficiency spot under that.
I use it in efficiency mode, because I don't care that much about having a little more performance.

Attached: 1524398295228.png (320x181, 27K)

Im tired of re explaining this. I know how its supposed to work, usb clicks even if no resampling is done, on any kind of sound. It resamples 44.1 to 44.1 in programs that have no exclusive mode. Multiple people with this issue as of now.

it's probably fixable with a firmware update or some bs, enough people are going to complain to make them do something about it

Because the driver in closed back is tuned to be closed back.

Attached: 1440906834778.png (1000x720, 1.11M)

The point is that you have the ability to truly control the cards performance. I would likely undervolt and underclock it as low as possible while still maintaining 144 fps in my easy to run game. In the future, maybe when doom eternal comes out, I would at least have the option of throwing one of my extra AIOs on it and actually overclocking it. Nvidia's "overclocking" is a joke. I had a single fan 1060 with a cooler the size of stock intel and it would hit a frequency wall before thermals were an issue because of nvidias voltage fuckery. I put an AIO on it and it wouldnt go 1mhz above 2151mhz while at fucking 45c. Disgraceful.
What headphones does someone with clearly superior GPU taste use?
>inb4 l300

I'm on HD600, user.

Attached: 1531935328825.jpg (1108x1076, 505K)

>it clicks in any mode
>but only in programs that have no exclusive mode
how many modes do you think there are

I decided to just focus on a headphone amp and went with the Atom. Any thoughts on the SMSL SK10?

no need for anything else user

I use my HD660S the most but now that the HD600 is getting discontinued I kind of wish I had one. I'm sure it's not that much different but I know it certainly has the best treble.
They can't just discontinue the HD600 and leave us with the HD58X, HD6XX, and HD660S. None of them are HD600 replacements.

Attached: desktop.jpg (1636x1225, 1.67M)

hd600 idoltrash has lower testosterone levels than the underage anime girls they post

Does that keyboard have arrow keys somewhere? Typing without them seems really annoying.

The discontinuation is just a rumor for now, user. I've been hearing this for a long time, too.
My blood works disagree.

Is the audioquest dragonfly red a meme?
not even gonna run it off my phone, but looking for desktop solution under 400, anything better?

Holy shit you literal retard.
Here is how it works on toslink: clicks when you switch to different sampling. If you switch from song that is 44.1 to 44.1 it doesnt click because there is no need to resample
Here is how it works with usb: clicks each time you open song, open video on yt, move seekbar. Do anything. Doesnt matter if its actually seitching samplings or not, it will click anyway. It will switch from 44.1 to 44.1 and audibly click while doing so.
This is is not my first dac and not the first experience with bitperfect audio. Its fucked.
I think so too, time will tell.

FN+;'[/ are the arrows but I don't use them very often and have other boards with them. Either way I wouldn't buy the HHKB anymore after learning how similar lubed BTC rubber dome boards sound and that they're more tactile.
They actually discontinued the HD800 though and it's prices are going through the roof(I'm sad about this) and so I figure there is some credence to them doing it with the 600. Would be cool to see a new version with an updated build I suppose but I think they're just gonna discontinue them and leave the HD660S as the replacement.

yes

Just get an E10k for ~$70.

my ifi idsd micro dont click on usb and on toslink too, superior dac/amp designs are just that, superior.

what's better then user?
ideally not too yuge, don't have lots of space on desk

>looking for desktop solution under 400
There is no point looking at a portable solution if you're not going to use for that purpose. For $200 you can probably get something that will satisfy all your needs, do you want a single unit that contains the amp and dac or do you want them separated?

I know. First time I see this kind of implementation in a dac, but its still acceptable if it happens when actual resampling is taking place. Not every time its processing any kind of sound.

i bought a second pair of hd600 fro 170$ a week ago, i planned to sell them for more and pocket the difference, now that seems they want to discontinue them is better for me to keep them?

I'm ok with either, just as long as they can drive muh HD650s and LCD2Fs

audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-topping-dx3pro-dac-and-headphone-amp.4967/page-24#post-120843
why do you keep lying lol

There are a million better things you could buy and resell for a profit. The HD580 is long discontinued, some people think its the best version and yet they're still very cheap on ebay.
Maybe something like the new final mouse thats supposed to come out or a group buy keycap set.
If you have one for yourself I just don't see that being a good idea. I guess you could put it in storage and if yours ever breaks you will have a replacement although I would rather buy back up ear pads if I'm doing something like that.

Attached: he60.jpg (1024x681, 301K)

Take a look and see what catches your eye. I will suggest the JDS Atom amp plus a Topping D10 for your dac.

glad i got the 600 its my endgame until there is a headphone that is twice as good as the HD600 within a normal price range

you should be happy with the 66 its easier to drive and it a upgrade over the 600

but the 600 has stood the test of time...

does anyone have Sony NW-A45

Why dont you read few last pages of this thread where like 4 people are reporting this issue you braindead retard? Amir is the only person it works for apparently. Most likely he never tested it outside of ASIO that apparently works for some reason.

tin t2s come today. will post impressions.
dx3 pro supposedly comes in 2 days. will post impressions.
idk when birds come. will post impressions.

stax sounds great but it misses the most basic shit you want form a headphone, comfort and build quality, especially at 1000USD plus for a set...

wrong

r u saying i fucking got memed into buying a broken dac

>Is there a headphone with more hard hitting bass than the fostex th900?
are you the th900 user? you said you use the th900 on your fostex amp? that's dumb. EQ boost 50hz and below, negative preamp by how much you boost. amplification and EQ is the most important thing for bass boosting. driver size is secondary. driver type is tertiary.

head-fi.org/threads/the-hardest-hitting-headphones-are-the-extreme-bass-club.716711/
how does /hpg/ collectively get CHINKED like this? the dx3 didn't even have a performant amp, and dacs don't matter so what was the point in buying it? a pretty display and remote control? I love you /hpg/ even though you are autistic and are fascinated by the wrong things

Attached: 1505342503823.jpg (1280x1440, 183K)

Probably more expensive, but see if you can get the Superlux HD681 and later add more comfortable pads. Otherwise try the portapro.

If he existed at all.

Don't tell anyone, but the Sennheiser x massdrop HE-6X will be announced mid January at $900

KZ zst pro, that's a little over your budget by a few euro's but it's worth it. Or just buy some kz ed7's (bamboo earphones) i heard for the price they're ok.

Obviously don't expect audiophile quality with a tiny budget, but they should suffice.

Looking forward for your reviews user :)
