So Jow Forums. Why do you insist on being a code monkey?

There are no actual senior code monkeys. Actually senior code monkeys move into management.
On the other hand IT cucks are stuck fixing fucking hard drives forever.

It gives me meaning to automate shitty IT tasks instead of doing them

u fokin wot m8

no matter how much money you make you're still a computer repairman

>more proof code monkeys are literal children with no actual job experience
Senior IT jobs are environment design and implementation brainlets

hey, you-you stop that

Bants aside, do they really make more money?

The guys designing multi tenancy data center tier environments yeah. Otherwise it's close to even.

If you write code and sell the code to clients, the senior codemonkey typically gets paid more. If the code is only for in-house, like retail, then senior IT gets paid more since they actually do more.

>implying I'm a code monkey
I can do the whole #! from defining the specs with the client, to architecture design, writing docs, implementing frontend and backend code, setting up CI pipelines and server environments to deploying the software into the cloud.

Seriously, it's not even difficult, people just have this obsession with boundaries.

>master of none

>environment design and implementation
you mean like an interior decorator?

I found out long ago that people are not valued by mastery, but utility. That's why the lesbian dance therapy major will be permanently unemployed.

High versatility makes you a great asset and it enables YOU to do things that are impossible for a "specialist". Also it massively improves your job security.

I have no intention on getting a job, I just like programming for the fun of it.

But wouldn't the people actually working on designing the architecture of the codebase that would support such horizontal scaling be both a programmer and be paid more than the "senior IT role" that just plans the deployment and connectivity between the nodes?

>brainlet soicuck who couldnt even handle calc one.
And true web dev makes well over 250k at the least.

Exactly, IT is a complete joke

Fuck off kike

Based and redpilled
Checked

Just do devops at work and play with meme tier abstract languages in your free time.

What's meme tier? Javascript?

>JABBASHIT
>meme tier
Javashit is the biggest joke of a language ever created. The fact soicucks use that and retarded ass node js for server side is ridiculous.

Thank God, I like to dabble in different technologies and have an idea of how everything fits together

>coping this hard

Lambda calculus

The important thing is that you know what you're doing, and not guessing. You need to be a somewhat fast learner.

>made $98k this year
>coping
Pick one.

Lisp, Haskell, OCaml, Algol, etc.

>making poverty wages

C, java, python, html, css, javascript, go, c++, holy c, sql, php

>tfw you don't make even half that
I don't live in the States btw.

Nurses and plumbers get paid more than most programmers.

Nurses make like 30k

This

Technically that's true. In India there are no nurses or plumbers because they shit on streets and just let people die on the streets. So only western salaries count for them, whereas there's a gazillion pajeets writing spaghetti code for $5 a day.

and plumbers only make decent money after many years or when they have their own outfit

your average dude in tech will be making 6 figures before tax within

What the fuck does someone's race have to do with this??? Are you jealous or that much of a child you have to insult people based on their race and nationality? Im fucking sick and tired of pieces of shit like you ruining this board, go back to Jow Forums. This is why reddit is so much better, people might disagree but no one ever resorts to acting like a scumbag

Err not in Australia, which is my country. I worked at a hospital for 4 years with direct access to the payroll database. Nurses earn on average about 100k, which was the same as the programmers we had. Mostly their pay rates were inflated due to the fact that they work outside of normal hours a large percentage of the time and get overtime for it.

I don't even know that in America it is any different. Sounds like you may be full of shit?

>senior IT roles
That really just means management or contracting, both of which are highly paid. High level IT contractors have very specific skills and are usually programmers in one sense or another.

>Rajesh got triggered, hard
If you weren't a retard, you would've noticed it was a fucking joke. If you can't take the heat, get out of the nuclear reactor, and go back to Jow Forumssafespace

>Acting like human excrement is a FUCKING JOKE
Congrats on being a douche bag.

Calm down, Ganesh, nobody's taking away your right to shit on a beach or a riverbank. Just stay in the diarrhea belt of the world and leave us Westerners alone.

and you are wrong as well. Plumbers make about the same as programmers, and you WILL fuck up your body even worse than a plumber. Maybe you should check out what a programmers body actually looks like and compare it to a tradesperson. It turns out sitting in a chair all day staring at a computer isn't good for you.

>Plumbers make about the same as programmers
not more, but potentially on par with someone early in their career ... after 10-20+ years of work or in a union, then maybe. This spiel gets passed around so hard and it's oh so wrong.

>Maybe you should check out what a programmers body actually looks like and compare it to a tradesperson
No; you very much will wreck your body far worse as a tradesmen, yes, sitting all day isn't great, but there's no reason you have to sit all day, you can stand, take wellness into your own hands, you have that ability in the tech industry, trades do not, you're going to have to work hard and fuck up your body to make a living

>Plumbers make about the same as programmers
No, they don't.
>money.usnews.com/careers/best-jobs/computer-programmer/salary
>sokanu.com/careers/plumber/salary/#how-much
>The BLS reports the median annual wage for computer programmers was $79,840
>The BLS reports that the national average plumber's salary is approximately $50,000.

Attached: us-news-programmer-salary.png (663x408, 31K)

I make around $160k with one year experience as programmer.
Do noob plumbers make that much?

>money.usnews.com/careers/best-jobs/plumber/salary

You can't post salary w/o location. $160k barely pays the bills on Manhattan or SF.

>$160k barely pays the bills on Manhattan or SF.
You're deluded, it pays the bills easily in SV.

>cannot into hyperboles
autism speaks

>after 10-20+ years of work or in a union, then maybe
Nope, I have the figures from my countries tax department right here. While programmers in very high cost of living areas get paid a lot more, most trades like electricians, plumbing, etc, get about the same on average across the country. They have a distinct advantage in that the most in demand areas for these jobs are often in new areas with low cost of living. They are not chained to an inner city location.

Really, so all the fit looking tradespeople and all the absolute shit looking programmers can be explained by what exactly? Humans are supposed to work in physical jobs, not sedentary jobs. Although, extremes are bad regardless.

You can't just stand. That is stupid. Standing in one spot is much worse than sitting. Standing desks were a stupid idea and nobody uses them. At the end of the day, the computer is fixed in its position. You can't move while using the computer in any kind of productive way. That is something that cannot be escaped and why programming is terrible for your body.

Your hyperbole is simply wrong though.
The compensation of tech companies outstrips the cost of living increase by far.

So much poo...

That 80k is people forced to live in high cost areas where all the tech jobs are. The 50k is anywhere in the country.

Fuck your anecdotes, the data and sources are right here The income brackets are so far apart they're not even in the same socioeconomic class.

>[citation needed]
I provided citations, you are no longer allowed to just make shit up.

>Nope, I have the figures from my countries tax department right here
Nobody cares about your poorfag country.

>tradesman talking about the daily ergonomics, habits and physical appearance of programmers
what

The problem with your citations is that they misuse statistics. You can only get a real understanding of the differences in wages by actually studying them indepth with the raw data.

Using my nursing example, the average "reported" wage to the tax department is lower than what they actually make because most hospitals are not for profit and the staff are allowed to report less wage to lower their taxes via something that takes living expenses and so on out of their reported wage.

The second issue is that their are hospitals all around Australia, in the middle of nowhere, and so on. There are not programming jobs in the middle of nowhere. They are all extremely limited to very specific high cost areas.

The end result is that nurses and programmers really don't get paid any differently even though you can look up your website that just lists two numbers and says "there, that is how it is".

Who cares about australia, you pay programmers shit.

Australia
>53k
tfw making 60k+ in my first year with no degree

source: some retarded website like payscale.

In Australia, the average programmers wage in 2014 was 94,504.
voommaps.com/more-maps-and-data/jobs-data/best-paying-jobs-australia/

That is still only ranked 142. Programming really isn't a high paying job compared to other jobs and it is going down as governments do their best to import indians.

>muh Australian tax loopholes
Why do you think those loopholes are present in the US? The reported taxable income disparity you speak of doesn't affect the US source.

Again, you provide no citations and just babble on bullshit about things that have not been established, like
>There are not programming jobs in the middle of nowhere.
>They are all extremely limited to very specific high cost areas.
This has not been established. Either prove it or shut the fuck up.

>That is still only ranked 142.
Whereas the highest paid plumber on the list is ranked 505.
>Construction worker
Wow, you really are fucking delusional.

That seems high to be the average

imgur.com/NbYbNrs
Nurses in America are paid the same as programmers.

Tradespeople get dodgy cash in hand deals and better location options.

Electrian is ranked 200 or something, but there is only a couple of thousand dollars difference between them and electricians are not stuck in inner city locations.

This means electricians and nurses ultimately get more than programmers because of location advantages.

It does seem your tradespeople get a lot less than here in Australia even though your nurses get about the same or more.

bls.gov/oes/current/oes_nat.htm#15-0000

Why does the job title/status matter so much to Americans?
If I was shovelling gravel and getting paid 100k+ a year for it, I wouldn't really have a problem shovelling gravel.

lmao you're on 4channel not Jow Forums stormfronter.please leave

Notice how it's only males? They're in desperate need of pussy which is why they act like faggots.
