The Gaymer >posts in battlestation threads >"linux is free if your time has no value" >"macfags gtfo" >has liquid cooling >owns multiple broken headsets >probably lives at parents' house >doesn't go outside much >insane reflexes
The Skiddie >probably 12 >uses Kali Linux >really good at pentesting, uses it to fuck with people irl for no reason >watched all 3 seasons of Mr. Robot >doesn't know how to program, only knows types of vulnerabilities and how to DDOS
The Freetard >"I'd like to interject for a moment" >Anything non-GPL is a cuck license >Uses Trisquel >probably lives in a van >cannot access public wifi if it uses proprietary JS >compiles everything from source
The Jow Forumstard >"X is the white man's Y" >probably underage and not very popular at school >laughs at communist memes >posts Kode with Klossy bait >thinks that "muh CoC" is a valid technical criticism >Doesn't use Rust because it is SJW
The autist >Uses gentoo unironically >Maintains an optimal kernel configuration for watching anime >uses suckless software on modern hardware >considers ricing and kernel fuckery a productive use of time >laughs at plebs who use computers for work >only writes in C89 with -pedantic >swears by a certain code style guide >Uses the word "bloat" for any software that has features that they do not need

>C89 -pedantic Because there is other way to do C?
Nathaniel Hughes
Enlightened macOS user here.
Tyler Taylor
I use Arch
Levi Mitchell
Yeah? Well I've been here since late 2017, so backoff newfag
Henry Hughes
you literally get better performance if you use C99 and the restrict keyword to tell the compiler it can aggressively optimize without worrying about aliasing.
C89 is a dead meme. C99 less so
Jace Thompson
Mixture of all 6.
Carter Watson
source on pic?
Luke Turner
I don't fit on any of those categories.
Jaxson Martin
enlightened poltard for me
Carson Perez
None of the above, I'm a person. A few of the things in the last one are mostly ok.
>The (Pseudo) Enlightened >1. Uses a normal, modern distro or macOS >2. Does their job, doesn't care about tribalism >3. may have at one point been the Autist, but grew out of it >4. doesn't care about bloat as long as everything runs fast and smooth >5. Ian Adams
You're are an Autist.
Aaron Murphy
debian, ubuntu, opensuse, maybe manjaro idk
Cooper Cox
The Enlightened Autist >wants his OS to be 100% under his control >doesn't care about justifying his choices >looks up to Ken Thompson >loves free software, respects RMS but isn't a zealot >contributed at least one patch to software he uses >still posts /prog/ memes >ignores 99% of Jow Forums threads >uses the right tool for the job >takes great care considering his options before any buying decision >has read the manual
Owen Hughes
>website launched in 2018 >I've been here since late 2017
Owen Morales
Autist/Enlightened Using Gentoo unironically but with KDE, which basically makes it a normal, modern distro. Optimizing shit to hell and back can be fun occasionally, but in the end my systems would be considered super bloated by autist standards.
Ryan Mitchell
None of these fit me so I'll make my own character
The Cyberpunk >pursuing a cyber security degree >can't actually program and probably never will >actyally just a larper >constantly borders the line between free software and botnet >tries to use minimal FOSS open source software but always ends up installing discord, flash player, and nonfree drivers >always imagining himself in situations or in ownership of tech that will probably never happen >has a windows PC for gaymes so whether or not he tries to be free from Lthe botnet it doesn't matter because his PC is the biggest botnet in the house >the only Jow Forums user that goes to /fa/ but doesn't look any less unsightly as everyone else >probably less cyberpunk than other Jow Forums users who don't even have interest in /cyb/
Oliver Cruz
Autist evolving into enlightened >Keeps a Gentoo install on T420 because arch install hates my laser printer >Screws with kernels and ricing for fun in freetime but keeps working config for doing real work >Uses software without unnecessary features but respects that some software had them for valid reasons >Tried many OSs but only uses the right one for the right job >Uses C11 with GNU extensions but feels vaguely guilty about it
Robert Phillips
If it gives you the strong urge to suck dick
Jacob Thompson
I'm probably the poorfag >use a pirate windows 7 copy because don't have the internet to keep up with the linux need for upgrades or a CPU with VT-X/AMD-V to virtualize the 3 or 4 softwares that may need an actual VM to run >use open source software not because they're open source but because they're free and eat less of the tiny harddrive and memory >never play anything made over 2010 other than some indie stuff such as shenzen-i/o
Eli Green
Gaymer: Probably when I was ~14-17 yes. I used to play a lot of games, I made some of those "keygens" or "patches" for games, adobe products, kaspersky AV, IOBit products, Internet Download Manager, Splash Pro Ex etc back in the days. I used to share those on youtube with rapidshare/megaupload etc. It's amazing how much you can achieve if you have basic knowledge of batch scripting.
Those were the days! *cracks* Used to make fun of Chrome because it couldn't resume downloads. *sips*
Skidde: lol no. But I liked Mr Robot. Personally I think Person of Interest clicked with me.
/p*l/: No. I never got less jobs or women because of non-whites.
Autist: >Uses gentoo unironically I took the BSD route after Arch, so no, never gentoo. I did use Calculate Linux at some point. >Maintains an optimal kernel configuration for watching anime Been a couple years since I saw a full seasonn of an anime. I'd always stream so I never cared. >uses suckless software on modern hardware No. >considers ricing and kernel fuckery a productive use of time No. I do like to rice KDE on my dual boot Neon installation, I like the new blur thing. *sips* >laughs at plebs who use computers for work No. >only writes in C89 with -pedantic I don't use C. C++/Rust/D/Nim master race. >swears by a certain code style guide I do like LLVM coding format, but it's not a strong preference. I love modern GCC. >Uses the word "bloat" for any software that has features that they do not need No.
The Enlightened: >Uses a normal, modern distro or macOS Yes, Manjaro >Does their job, doesn't care about tribalism I do have some tribalism in me. I am not an unbiased person. I tend to scrutinize Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Apple products. >may have at one point been the Autist, but grew out of it Your autist category never fit me, but know I am one. >doesn't care about bloat as long as everything runs fast and smooth Agreed >Uses a computer as a tool, not an e-peen Agreed again.
I've seen 21 year skiddies that fit the description perfectly. Also there was a 15 year skiddie who asked me unironically at 2012 "have you done a ping of death recently?".
Carter Fisher
>C89 GOOD GOD NO
Do you know how annoying it is to do even the simplest things with that?
stable working config in gentoo/arch is easy as fuck. just make sure you don't fuck with anything once you reach that point
Kevin Smith
I am >The Jobfag
>Works in IT support >Does not post in consumer threads >Does not argue over muh Linux distro >Does not blame Indians for the lazy faggots here all being NEETs and retards >Is a normie in at least two ways >Not interested in programming because my job does not require it >Is suspicious of the people here who are interested in programming, because they talk exactly the way a NEET fantasist would talk >Owns at least two computers, one Windows, one Linux >Would love to talk about things that are never discussed here because NEETs don't know about them (in my case, cPanel and vSphere)
Anyway, I guess I'm the enlightened autist. Except for: >watching anime >considers ricing and kernel fuckery a productive use of time >>laughs at plebs who use computers for work
You really do need a BASED section with TempleOS though, or change englightened to "chad" or "based" and include TempleOS under Englightened.
The Rural NEET >all their hardware is 6+ years old >repairs computers for local businesses >only uses OpenSuse >downloads software on library LAN to avoid overage charges at home
Andrew Thomas
>NEET >work What? >>downloads software on library LAN to avoid overage charges at home What country? That sounds like hell.
Connor Bennett
Enlightened with freetard ideals
Jack Torres
I rice for usability. It looks like trash, but I can get things done real fast
Dylan Turner
I wouldn't say I'm a Jow Forumstard, but I laugh at political memes and think the CoC is harmful to the open source community
why are these traits of good looks and usability mutually exclusive, in your case?
Aaron Ortiz
I'm with you on the printer thing, I have an X230 running a version old OpenSuSE because that's the only OS I can get my printer driver to work on
Gabriel Lee
> I don't use C. C++ ... master race. >visibly disgusted
Noah Perez
used to be skiddie + gaymer, then because an autist for a year(back when arch was the official Jow Forums meme), and now I'm enlightened
Hunter Cook
Fuck, if you consider hating a company tribalism, then count me as full autist/freetard. I HATE microsoft. I don't care for most of their products, but that's minor. I only HATE them because they don't contain their shittiness to their own products, they're actively working to harm the free and open source software community, and it's working. They disgust me. The ideals of free and open source software are one of the only things in the world that I can point to and say "There. That gives me hope that people really can band together over common ground, for the betterment of themselves, others, and the world around them." It's only gotten worse recently. We need to rid ourselves of identity politics and bring back the humor and lightheartedness of old. I don't care if you're male, female, trans, other(?), white, black, a 4 year old savant, pajeet (ha), Vladimir Putin, or a particularly idealistic emperor penguin. All that matters is the dedication to improving what's around you.
Liam Williams
Oh, they're not. But they both take effort, and generally one doesn't improve the other, so doing both takes 2x (or so) the time. I like making things look good, but I know it's not a good use of my time. I hope to one day switch from xmonad to i3-gaps or something, but that day is not today.
Ryan Nelson
Where does a person that uses Wine fall into OP category? I spend as much time using FOSS software for my job tasks as I use proprietary for mundane shit like writing on word, toying with my RasPi and drawing on photoshop
Xavier Howard
it only takes like an hour max lmao. 15 minutes if you’re an actual linux user. there’s ton of great premise configuration / dotfiles everywhere
Xavier Walker
A trifcta of Enlightened, Freetard, and Skiddie.
Jacob Mitchell
Kek, fellow anonnel
Joseph Howard
>ignores 99% of Jow Forums threads This is the most important "enlightened" trait
Wyatt Foster
>cyber security >can't program and never will Programming might be a bit useful for that, or at least scripting like python
Hunter Hill
no enlightened person uses linux
Ryder Green
I had no idea there was a fashion board. What a weird place for fashion
>Is suspicious of the people here who are interested in programming, because they talk exactly the way a NEET fantasist would talk This is good. It's like recognizing that the antifa types are similar to fascists not because of what their beliefs are, but what their actions and reactions say about what their beliefs are.
James Baker
Out in the country, pronounced cuntreh
Brandon Powell
Oh, not just switching to it. Figuring out how to reach/exceed my current xmonad config. The default behavior for the two programs is quite different, and I prefer xmonad's defaults. I've gotten most of the way there, but I'm still figuring out the kinks.
THE SEX OFFENDER >avatarfags with an unresized shit waifu using the entire *booru filename >uses a VPN, just in general >buys socks off of Ali for the almighty power of (You) >complains about video games destroying Jow Forums, while using a 1080ti to play Illusion games and Skyrim using mysterious Japanese mods >is the first person to proclaim that "Triforce is tame" whenever the daily CP discussion happens
Lincoln Harris
no, i mean makin it nice takes 5 min
Ethan Lewis
You mean the graphical ricing? I guess, I can't use it until I make it functional, though.
Austin Reed
proud autist and freetard.
Jace Sanchez
The Enlightened Enlightened, I actually realize that bloat often hinders productivity and thus I am carefully evaluating how much of my time I invest in improving my workflow and use the tools which obstruct me the least.
