Sad! Many such cases

i recently bnought a smsl su-8, the difference with the roland duo ex is incredible, mostly when playiing 96/88.2 khz 24bit files (no vinyl rip crap)

macfags can use usb dacs too

I know it sounds as a very weird purchase when not accompanied with the appropriate apple certified usb-to-thunderbolt adapter.

My usb dac got rid of the buzz my mobos on board sound created.

yeah
wake me up when PCI expansion cards become a thing again (for anything that isn't a video, network, or hard drive controller card)

should I buy a NFB11.28 for my he400i?

Fiio?

>24bit for playback
You fell for the audiphool meme

If u want. I have one, it's pretty good.

Nothing can match the fidelity of your own brain

>when PCI expansion cards become a thing again
CPU vendors have to stop jewing people out of PCIe lanes for that to happen.

So never.

They are called PCIe audio interfaces.
Here for example is some choice of them

Not only can I hear 0.1 dB fluctuations with 99.7% accuracy in a blind test, I can also hear a clear improvement with 24 bit.

I'm sorry that you have shitty hearing, not all of us do.

Placebo is a pretty big effect, so if it makes you happy, then by all means, go ahead. Generally the improvement with 24bit is not because of that, but rather than they're more likely to use higher quality masters.

0.1 dB difference is audible though, human hearing tends to judge louder sounds as more "quality", so this sensitivity makes it rather hard to perform blind tests, as you always need exact amplitude matching.
.
With all things equal, there is no perceivable advantage to 24bit for playback however (other than placebo, obviously):

>a blind test is placebo
Whatever makes you feel better about your useless ears.

No need to get so defensive, like I said dude, if it works for you then go ahead. That's what matters the most after all.
Even professionals have trouble constructing blind tests that aren't compromised in some way, your single anecdote is literally meaningless.

>hurr nobody benefits from 24 bit
>"I do, among other things"
>durr single examples don't matter and are anecdotal
I like the way you try to damage control, it's so subtle. Oh wait, no it isn't.

Given the quick replies it's doubtful that you've read the sources above, so I don't think you're interested in facts, so no much point continuing especially since you present no evidence from your side.

Have fun with your placebo, friend.
