Don't specialize in data science

>decide to specialize in data science
>after years of generic compsci undergrad master's specializing courses begin
>finally I can be super data wizard!!!!!!!!11
Turns out it's just dicking around with Python in Jupyter Notebook. I was expecting super machines and living in a mainframe like Lain. All my dreams are gone now. This is boring and dumb.

akarin

Well shit OP, what should I do now? I havent set my path in stone quite yet

Go to trade school and learn welding or something, university was a mistake.

>some guy from the ((industry)) comes in
>fit, charismatic guy, sharply dressed
>obviously not a programmer or computer scientist anymore. maybe never was
>probably studied business and ended up in some big data corp
>"At first I wasn't sure I wanted to this, I mean who wants to teach right? But then I told my boss we all need to expand my horizons."
>boots up powerpoint
>inside a jupyter notebook
>inside a javascript
>inside a macbook running a virtual machine ubuntu
>"Here are the frameworks"
>Large clusterfuck of modules, libraries, databases, machine learning, statistics, networking, parallel, super, scientific computing etc. etc.
>"the air is really stale in here" *opens up window*
>cold as fuck air comes in making all the students shiver
>((dominate your audience))
>"I expect you to work 10 hours on this every day. There will be one test per week in addition to homework. None of it will matter in your final grade, but if you fail one homework or test you fail the course.
>At the end I want a presentation, you will be in groups of three. Work it out amongst yourself.
>Let's get some class representatives.
>Allright send me your email and we will start a github/classfronter/piazza session
>discussion is good, you must all participate or fail the course
I fucking hate (((Data Science))) people

Some Fed dick trying to Agenda 21 the goyim into sustainable work to keep him out of a metropolis for the chosen.

What do I specialize in?
Gonna finish my CS undergrad soon.
Dubs decide

Diversity Management

Chad as fuck

weew

lawl

He made me autistic. I literally sperged out on him and dropped out of the course. Not my proudest moment. Thank god I got out of data science and back into numerical analysis.

Just do whatever interests you the most user

is being a curator of anime girls a real job?

Maybe

People get paid for everything and anything these days. Just find your audience and you can make it happen.

Went to trade school and became a mechanic. I made a huge mistake. Now I'm back at uni.

There are other STEM majors like EE or ME if CS doesn't suit you.

I hope so

what about a preserver of stylized depictions of members of the order Anura from the phylum Chordata in the Animalia kingdom?

Coding is always boring and dumb until stuff works, animefag

>Well shit OP, what should I do now?
install gentoo

unfortunately lain is just cooler than we can ever dream to be

Maki is my wife!

>go to machine learning seminar
>"oh gee oh wow can't wait to see how all this cool shit works"
>it's 2 days of fucking convex optimization and matrix algebra

sounds better than just dicking around with stringing random frameworks and libraries together and making trendy logos

Well OP, if it's any consolation, keep in mind that the modules and such you describe fall apart in a production setting, so when it comes to that you'll get a chance to do the cool stuff

lol user, it's all ogre for you, the du/b/s have spoken

Does this mean I could learn data science stuff without paying a university for it?

kek, nasty. I'm looking into numerical analysis too.
