CPU
>CPUs less threads usually suffer lower 0.1% minimums
>Athlon 200GE - Bare minimal desktop/gaming
>R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-9700k/8700k - If you have a $2000+ budget and pairing with a 2080 or better
>R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

RAM
>Always choose at least a 2 stick kit
>8GB - Bare minimum/Light desktop use.
>16GB - Standard amount
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula

Graphics cards
>RTX 2000 cards; cheap models usually low yield processor. Aim for factory OC versions for best performance
>use your due diligence with cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans. They may be cheap, but won't get high boost clocks like better models
1080p
>RX 570/580/1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options
1080p@144hz
>Vega 56/1070ti best value, Free/G-sync monitor highly recommended
1440p@60-75hz
>Vega/1070ti/1080/2070
1440p@100+hz
>1080ti/2080
4K
>Upscale from 1620-1800p. Or 2080Ti, but awful value
OpenCL use
>Vega 64

Storage
>Backup before using StoreMi
>Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Display
>Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards

Are GPU prices too fucked to bother with right now? I'd like something nice, but everything is waaaay more expensive than I remember it being before the mining shit happened. Is there any chance of AMD forcing Nvidia to adopt more competitive pricing, or somesuch?

Jesus actual christ am I activating a portal to hell when I turn that fucking thing on?

The dell is an 8-bit TN panel. The Predator is an 8 to 10 bit dithered. Personally I would get a true 10 bit panel with a lower refresh rate that you can probably overclock to around 90 Hz. I've seen them on sale as low as $200 USD.

RX prices are decent now.

GPU prices are only fucked if you're trying to buy a Pascal GPU

I got a 1080 ti Armor OC. In GN review, they say it has the same PCB of a Gaming X. Should I flash a Gaming X BIOS? I already have a better cooler mounted on so temps aren't a problem here, I get like 65 max or so at 50~60% fan speed.

That unironically looks really nice

Attached: 1518644744738.jpg (400x368, 25K)

I wouldn't recommend flashing bios unless something is broken

Im starting to contemplate to buy an RTX 2070 instead of an 1070ti. Im worried the 1070ti will struggle with modded games, specially since I am using an ultrawide monitor.
Is it really worth it ? By the way I would go for an 1080ti but the prices are way too high.

give me ONE (1) good reason this isn't the best entry into PC gaming?

the case's beautiful but i read a lot of complaints about the dust it gets

dust is manageable, and it's worth the swag you gain

samsung hg70 is at a similar price point, comes with freesync 2, HDR600, 10bit colours, local dimming and qdot.

>$429 cad
>27"
>Only 2k

Attached: 1477604477589.jpg (403x403, 53K)

Is it true that Intel is better at music production?

Looks good to me, 4k is a meme, I regret buying one.
That's a good price, especially for a non-meme brand.

Stop calling it 2k. Where are you getting that number?

Very regal & very cool

Vega still isn't.

>Is there any chance of AMD forcing Nvidia to adopt more competitive pricing
AMD has already priced Nvidia out of the game, yet retards like you still consider and buy Nvidia anyway so Nvidia has kept their prices high and non-competitive.

1070ti will probably serve just fine. The 2070 performance bump is not worth the price increase

I paid $80 cad for a 1600x900 20", that's much more reasonable

Also, I got 2k from the fact you literally said 2k in your post you dense nigger

pcpartpicker.com/user/soobs/saved/ZDctgs

Costs around €1900 in total. Went for 9700k/2070 because all of the 8700k/1080s I could find in my country were sold out and these are the exact same price. Reason for this exact GPU is because I need a DVI-D output for my 144hz monitor. Looking good? Anything I should change up?

Buy used

Not my post, nigger. He posted a pic of 2560x1440 and called it 2k, then you called it 2k. It's not.
>I paid $80 cad for a 1600x900 20", that's much more reasonable
And I run Crysis 3 on my Tamagotchi screen that I got for 2 cuckbucks, that's even MORE reasonable.

The thing is that I´ve found the 2070 for 550 dollars and the 1070 goes from 390(rarely) to 470 depending of the time. I specially looking for future proofing since im not planning on upgrading this build in at least three or five years.
Also have in mind that I will overclock it a little

>$390 for a 1070
Are these CAD or AUD prices?

Spend more money on a gpu unless you wanna turn down settings.

Also you're buying a gimped cpu right before zen2

Companies never charge their products lower just because their nearest competition prices their products at bargain bin prices.

That's just not going to happen.

AMD has nothing to compete with Nvidia other than aggressive pricing, why should Nvidia earn less profits by competing against them for who can sell the most pennies?

>gimped CPU
>when the 8th gen and 9th gen squashes Zen+
>comparing a new line of CPUs against the older ones
What a brainlet

Those are in Euros, sorry for not specifying

how much would you guys pay for a used rig containing a fuckin i7 4770k, gtx 670 oc, 8 gb of ram?

So sorry I haven't been watching GPU prices like a hawk, dipshit.
Have all the miner cards dried up, or do I still risk buying a burnt out card?
Fair. I don't know shit about this market, I haven't been paying attention because buying stuff like this wasn't really feasible there for a while.

why don’t my usb ports work, i swear i plugged everything in

Attached: B0AD4202-F66C-421A-BB43-CC6259A146CC.jpg (750x810, 617K)

>used rx 580 for £110 on ebay

Should i?

Attached: 1538718697435.png (900x623, 40K)

Man I am stupid, apart from them being in Euros I am refering to the 1070ti , not a regular 1070.

Plug the USB headers back in, and make sure they're plugged in to the front of the case, too. Sounds stupid, but maybe for some fucking reason they're not.

Mining cards are generally used within specification. For example I mined on my 1060 for a bit just for fun and it ran at 75-79°c which is completely in spec. While the life expectancy is lowered for 24hr use it should hold up until you want to replace it.

Personally though I've purchased an r9 280x quote a while ago which lasted my self 2 years before jumping to a 1060. Previous owner had it for a year I believe. I ended up giving it to a friend for a bit until he upgraded.

Before buying a used card check the manafacturers RMA before because generally speaking you don't need a receipt to use the RMA. So.if you buy one used and it dies in spec just RMA it.

200

what a fucking mess.

>"samsung hg70 is at a similar price point"
>several hundreds more everywhere.

Thx senpai

cool, guy is selling it here for 150 euros, I'll jump on it
gpu might not be that great but the cpu looks fuckin solid even paired with modern cards

looks pretty plugged in to me, and whaddya mean by headers
ikr

Attached: D5C40490-D79F-47B5-A090-B4F293AD9511.jpg (1575x2100, 673K)

should also mention my rear panel doesn’t work either

Only with AMD prices are still kinda fucked. Nvidia is "fine" with anything but RTX.

I have a 4790 paired with 8gb of ram and a 1060. The older architecture I think drags fps down 15% if I had to guess but overall performs well enough for me to 80fps on blackops 4 with medium 1080p. And runs all my older/f2p comp games well.

The GTX 670 is going to feel weak.

USB header = the bit of the motherboard where the plug goes for the case USB ports. Looks like a bunch of erect wires (USB 2) or a socket full of pins (USB 3).

What country?

well I'm currently using a fuckin core 2 quad piece of shit with a hd 4850 so it will feel godly even though it's barely average for a modern pc

>core 2 quad
Jesus user, what year is it?

Attached: 1386842334981.jpg (434x299, 28K)

Fair enough user enjoy the build. Expectations with older parts matter alot and j believe you'll end up enjoying it.

On the plus side you are most likely familiar with tweaking settings to get the most out of your build.

USA and most of Europe.

oh, so this thing
replugged, still doesn’t work

Attached: 1C91328B-B14A-49B2-A048-40B03BDB7010.jpg (1575x2100, 397K)

well fuck, pc's are expensive as fuck in eastern europe, a damn gtx1080 is 50% more expensive than in the us, despite our wages being fuckin way lower
a few years back I was gonna spend over 1500 euros to build a pc that would cost about $800 in clapistan but my father called me a retarded faggot when I told him and I wound up saving up some more and buying a car instead
absolutely, will still be weird for me to launch a post 2010 game and not have to disable aa

not bad but why?

Eastern yuropoor here too with a 4870 and c2 duo. Prices are sky high now so it's perfectly fine buying used. Maybe in 5 years with AMD and the chinks it'll be better.

Got this for 125€, did I do good?

Attached: 81vCAkle0DL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x1129, 203K)

were in eastern europe are you? can't you travel to germany or austria and buy there?

>8gb
absolutely

Wrong picture, it's a 570.

that's why I like that rig that uses the 4770k, that shit is pretty damn good even now
romania and yeah I can, my dad's side of the family are germans and most of them live there so I could do that too

Yeah I fucked up. It's a RX 570 8GB, not 580. 580 seems like a steal.

how are the temperatures on these and the 590? in planing on building a completly new rig in march/april but by that time the 2060 might be out(im currently using a 950)

Heard by default on full load it was around 70. Don't quote me on that, since the problem is, there's 2 versions (normal and mk2, with the latter apparently being better). Judging by the picture I'm getting the worst one, but it was real cheap as well so I can't complain. Maybe I'll undervolt it a little or something. It beats fucking intel graphics 4600 HD for sure.

still a fucking steal and i'm in fact quite jelly. i want to get an rx570 4gb but the cheapest price here is 140€

Would it be okay if I went with an 9700K purely for video games? Would the lack of hyperthreading hurt me in any way?

It has 8 cores, so for pretty much any current game it'll be one of the best CPUs out there.

If 8700k is $60 cheaper or more, it might be a better deal, but if the 9700k is within $30-50 of the 8700k,il its worth the extra

Exacly how noticable of a difference does upgrading from a 1 GB graphics card and 8 GB of ram to a 6 GB card and 16 GB of ram make

Games don't use 16 threads

Intel made the 9700k 8/8 because they want to sell the 9900k and did not want to render the 8700k and 8086k obsolete

That kind of segmentation is shitty

Thank you. What cooler do you recommend?

Yeah that sucks. Do you think that they will bring back hyperthreading with Ice Lake if goes 10 cores?

The segmentation might be shitty, but the CPU itself is good.

NH-D15 or similar large 140mm air cooler, or a 240mm, 280mm, or 360mm closed loop cooler.
Also make sure your motherboard has decent VRMs and VRM heatsinks.

Can one of you nerds build me a pc?
£1000 budget, OS has to be win7 or 8.1.
I'd be very grateful.

Attached: 1525652524540.gif (500x281, 1.36M)

>graphics card
some new games straight up won't boot with only 1gb or you have to turn the res and textures to minimum
>ram
for gaming? a few games like gta5 really love to have more than 8gb ram after playing for a while but in most cases you won't see a difference

i have a 1050 ti

what monitor you got senpai

Hyperthreading has inherent security vulnerabilities due to the core sharing resources with both threads.

Not sure how or if they can fix it easily. It's a better philosophy to use real core anyway

I only got a 60hz one.

looks like my mouse and keyboard work in the boot menu but not in windows

Poorfag
MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4GT OC for 147 eurocoins or
MSI GTX 1060 3GT OC for 176 eurocoins?

>OS has to be win7 or 8.1.
Why?

Wddm 2.0+ is only on w10

Resolution?
What do you want to use the PC for?

The top post covers all this btw, you should read it. Asking us to build a PC without giving the bare minimum information is a great way to get told to install Gentoo.

rx 570 for 140 euroshekels

>MSI GTX 1060 3GT

Attached: nash.gif (200x200, 1.83M)

9600K or a 2700X just for gaymen?

155€ here, and that's without tax, but seems good.

which poorfag cpu to go with?

Thank fuck, playing GTA’s been a nightmare

I got a decent chunk of change for my Graduation and I'm looking to upgrade my monitors. I'd like to keep it at 1920x1080 with a refresh rate above 60, and 2 if possible so I can keep my dual monitor setup. What should i be looking at price range wise?

That a yes or no?

Response to the user asking about the CM 690 II

Nothing is wrong if it does the job. However it's visually outdated and lacks newer front I/O features.

You sure can.
cmstore.eu/spare-parts/standard-usb-card-3-free-shipping/
Most case manufactures will sale spare or individual parts for cases on their main site.

Attached: 1359741871756.jpg (447x444, 43K)

hell fuckin no dude, unless its the 6gb 1060 dont bother

What I did when I wanted to upgrade was keep my two old 60Hz monitors, buy a new 144Hz monitor, and change to a triple monitor setup with the 144Hz in the middle and the other two flanking it. I don't see the point of having more than one monitor that can do >60Hz unless you routinely play games across multiple screens and even then, RIP your framerate.

Why doesn't AMD suffer as much as Intel in this?

It has a bad rep and seems like a hassle.
1920x1080
It's fun though isn't it?
I'd need alot of storage space maybe 6tb, I have 5tb of hdd's filled up atm.
I would like to be able to play games, mainly I would like to be able to play KF2 and the new Doom at decent settings, it would be nice if I could also go to 8x native in pcsx2

Attached: 1527682639017.gif (960x540, 1.14M)

how poorfag are we talking? what's your budget? i wouldn't go bellow 6 cores these days so the cheapest solution would be a ryzen 1600 but then again the 2600 isn't that much pricier and much better

That's price is nothing special by North American standards, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it's good where you live. Assuming that it's a new card, you didn't get ripped off. Just know that the MSI Armor cards are lower end models so don't expect amazing quality and performance. It's a decent card though for gaming at 60 FPS right now.

>590
Don't get this meme. It's just a slightly overclocked 580, which is already a slightly improved 480. This wouldn't be a problem if they weren't priced significantly more than the 580s. If you want a mid-tier AMD GPU, get the 8GB version of the 580 because games are demanding more memory each year.

>NH-D15
Before ANYONE buys a giant air cooler, make absolute sure your RAM will be compatible with the size of the unit and the space your case provides. There are often diagrams showing dimensions of these coolers online.

As this user said, anything under 6GB in the current market isn't worth it. 4GB is an absolute minimum as is and you want more if you want your GPU to remain relevant in coming years.

>new doom
is that en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_(2016_video_game) ? is KF2 Killing Floor 2?

Correct!
