Hot

Because they're stupid, they don't realize thatflash memory likes operating at high temperatures.

As long as your electronics stay under 120F or about 50C most of the time they'll last forever. My desktop idles around 90F. Critical temp on mine is like 170F. You can keep your computers running cool by replacing your thermal paste once a year and cleaning out your fans. If you have dogs in the house like I do you should buy a pack of vent filters at the hardware store and cut them so they'll fit in front of the intake fan. I put a filter between the intake fan shroud and the metal frame of the case, as well as between the outside of the frame and the plastic face plate. You should also never smoke near your PC.

dust is worse than dog hair since it's smaller

is repasting once a year actually beneficial? would it benefit laptops as well?

I don't have very much dust in my house, and the stuff that does get into my case is so fine that it doesn't hurt anything.

Yes. I always repaste my laptops once a year. I use Arctic Silver 5 and it usually starts to dry out in my laptops after a year. It gets kinda thick and sticky. Repasting my laptops makes like a 10 degree difference but I do it anyways.

Always replace the stock paste though. The stock paste is always shit.

Fucking thots

>replacing your thermal paste once a year
What kinda tooth 'n peanutbutterjelly past are you using that needs replacing every year?
Just relax bruv, she'll be sweet aye.

Fucking incels.

I use Arctic Silver 5. That shit is like $10 a tube so there's really no reason not to repaste once a year. I've been doing it on a couple of my computers for over a decade. I have a ThinkPad R60 that I've been repasting annually since 2007.

Because the controller chips throttle if they overheat, which affects throughput performance.

It's not that it likes high temps, it's just that a high differential between running and off temps is better for long term storage. You could run the drives at 0c if you were going to store them at -40c

everyone has dust in their house since it's just dead skin cells

I never said I didn't.

i would have thought a low differential would be better

>SSD rated at 550 MB/s
> transfer 5 GB data under a minute
> temps now at 55°C
> thermal throttling sets in
> remaining 120 GB now transfers at ~60-70 MB/s
> temps at ~65°C after first ~25 GB

My mechanical HDD chugs along at steady 90 MB/s, never exceeds 32°C.

SSDs are great for fast performance at low volume data transfers. Some are even designed to stay cool, like under 45°C, with proper heat sinks. Some even have controllers that can operate at 50°C+ temps. Some SSDs are actual unicorns. People keep talking about them as if there have been real sightings. But, I haven't seen one yet. Not even joking. Bought a pair of 512 GB SSDs a couple months back, performed burn-in formatting & data fill to stress test them before putting them into service. I've formatted & data filled 2 TB mechanical drives faster than the 1/2 TB SSDs took. The SSDs were cooking, nearly on fire in an open-sided PC case with two case fans blowing 18°C room temp air on them, my mechanical HDDs remain at 30-32°C under load and drop into low 20s while idle. The fucking SSDs idle at 34-36°C, jump into the mid-40s with any data transfer around 1 GB, then take ten minutes to cool back into the mid 30s.

I have, quite literally, never seen any SSD sustain 200 MB/s or higher data transfer under real life conditions when transferring 10 GB or more.

I don't fear high temps on SSDs. I experience rage. Very different emotions.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?
literally nobody measures computers by fucking fergehert

Consumer grade NVMe that doesn't include heat sinks? I've never seen 2.5" SATA/SAS SSDs act like this and Enterprise NVMe, while pricey, is built to keep up in this scenario

What? I have never seen thermal throttling on a sata ssd even while writing a ton of shit to it, what usually causes the performance drop on cheap tlc ssds is running out of slc caching. My 850 evo for example drops down to 300 mb/s after running out of the ~15GB cache but can hold that for a full disk overwrite. I have a cheap sandisk one that drops to around 150 mb/s, but thats because it's only 120 gb of tlc nand not allowing for much write parallelism, not overheating. Any decent high capacity ssd will saturate the sata bus for the duration of a full disk overwrite.
What kind of shitty drives have you tried?

I’d like to see that woman’s punnani

well, you can stop using my european http/s protocol, enjoy your gopher

is there any porn of this cum guzzler?

What the fuck is wrong with women. You give them a little attention and all of a sudden their flashing their goods at you. But only for Chad. If you're not Chad she'll still do it but complain about you paying her attention. Sexbots with artificial wombs can't happen any sooner.

Because people are dumb. They see CrystalDiskInfo drawing their SSD is yellow or red, and freak. It's dumb, it's stupid, it's retarded - it's people.

Anybody got any experience with the Transcend 110S? 256GB, just for the OS and some software. Is it any good?
