Nah, a Core 2 Duo is plenty.

Liar. 2018 you need at least quad core or you'll regret it. Stuttering, screen-tearing, etc. Thats a no-go.

No. I regularly shitpost from a 600MHz P3 shitbox with Linux from the late 90s. If you wanna watch YouTube videos in 1080p you should get something made after 2010. Dual core is fine. I personally use a ThinkPad X230 with an i5-3320M and it's overpowered for day to day shit.

Number of CPU cores has fuckall to do with that and everything to do with the GPU and the software you run.

At the very least you want a quad core if you run Windows 10. Dual cores constantly spike to 100% usage from Windows Updates or just loading multiple tabs at the same time in Chrome.

i run a 2c/2t celeron on windows 10

2 cores = facebook machine
4 cores = on the go development machine
8 cores = development machine

Of course it's not just the number of cores that matter. Threads, clock speeds, etc also play a huge role.

More cores isn't going to save you from CurryScript the ever-hungry, devourer of RAM and crasher of browsers.

This idea you need 8 cores is nonsense (aside from very specific use cases) truthfully, a 4 core i5 mobile series is plenty fast enough. RAM and SSD are more important. I develop applications in many languages across all stacks from desktop to web and I do not see how upgrading to an 8 core will give me notable performance increases. Diminishing returns is what I foresee.

Your CPI and MIPS are more important than clock speed
Cores make your computer faster up until like 100 cores or something (there's a law on this similar to Moores law) then you're at peak efficiency/performance for CPU size

bought a laptop to my mom celeron dual core dual thread 1.8ghz 2gb ram. runs smooth and flawlessly even with winbloat10

this user should an hero for beeing this bluepiilled

I can't even watch 2 1080p 60fps videos in two separate tabs without stuttering on my i5 2500k.

As someone who uses an e8400 daily I can safely say you're wrong.

Really? It's only 25% util on my 4790 running two screens with hardware acceleration off. 12% if one of the tabs is in the background since Chrome stops video playback in the background.

Works on my machine, CPU doesn't even turbo up. It's still underclocked with speedstep.

My old '09 tx2z can render your shitposting just fine.
It can also see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Honestly, I could probably get by just fine on my Latitude D800 with a 2.1 GHz Pentium M if I had to. Visiting sites that are loaded with JS garbage can slow things down a bit, but it's still perfectly usable. I daily a Latitude E6400 with a T9900, and I don't experience as much as a hiccup running Xubuntu.

My 8250u zenbook is comfy as fuck for shit posting.

No one in this thread can name 4 things that their computer would be doing at once while shitposting.

baste

playing anime with madvr+mpc-hc on one monitor
botting in a mmo on another monitor while rendering a batch of webms
slideshow of gelbooru porn pictures on the last monitor

kek’d at this, my i3 2120 is perfect for shitposting, programming and misc desktop use, heck it can even run skyrim and civ5 decently with it’s igpu. the only downside being that i get a couple dropped frames here and there when watching 1080p60 video and obviously the igpu being the big bottleneck

false

No. Unlike what this consumerist hellhole likes to believe, you can easily post on an imageboard with a Pentium 4. Good luck browsing anything else though.
