Linkedin is actually really good to find jobs. People from the big 5 kept contacting me and trying to hire me when I had 'looking for work' on. Didn't even need to lift a finger. Recruiters use linkedin extensively. I also successfully used linkedin contacts to provide a direct connection for a sales deal at the company I was working at. Overall it's totally worth it if you're clever about it.
