Why haven't we got the cool technology from Star Trek yet?

Because it aint 2368 yet, nigguh. Gotta wait another 340 years.

Because you touch yourself at night.

What do you think he sees with his future space goggles

i prefer battlestar galactica, it actually looked like a computer room

BSG is how things should be, TNG is what sadly everything is becoming like, cloudy touchy shit.

/bst/ thread?

>Physical push-buttons
>No computer network
>Wired phones
BSG was based and redpilled

That perfect mix of old and new...

the whole point of this UI seems to be to make it as complicated to use and unreadable as possible, so only starfleet officers with 5+years of training are able to do so, while no random pleb will be even able to do shit

Because of Capitalism.

Yes please.

I'm 3 seasons into TNG, hows battlestar?

They are looking at a display called "Mission Ops". They have a "kingon data file" and "intrepid sensor log" open, probably as some kind of file comparison. This is a terrible interface for comparing files. There are tons of unrelated clutter things everywhere.

Meanwhile, Geordie, by resting on the panel, is activating whatever the blue button does.

The first season is brilliant, then it goes to shit as they didn't really have any plan beyond season one. It turned messy with some good moments and some incomprehensible mystic bullshit. Beautifully shot throughout though.

>Meanwhile, Geordie, by resting on the panel, is activating whatever the blue button does.
Didn't you watch the episode where they explained how that stuff couldn't happen?

Starts strong, goes nowhere after season 2-3.

TNG gets good after season 2 and stays alright with some dip in quality after season 5.

There is a system much worse than capitalism lurking around and trying to return at all costs.
It is a constant struggle against it, but it corrupts any system you put and tries to force itself back.
This system name? the monarchy.
It is the thing behind monopolies, infinite patents and most attempts at "socialism".
Do you actually think Maduro acts like a president? no, he's a king that don't call himself king, and the same can be said about all dictators.
And the same will be said about google's sole owner when the shit reach the final state.
So before trying to replace capitalism, have that in mind, someone will want to be the king of your new system, and if this someone finds less obstacles he will plow thru it and turn self into a king.

I prefer Babylon 5.

I'm lacking the last three or four episodes of BSG. Is it worth watching, or should I just be happy? I know more or less the premise of the finale (they arrive at earth, it's a dead planet, and then suddenly fast-forward to the future and now they're in present day) and that the baby of Chief and Callie wasn't really a Cylon-Human hybrid, which I guess gets explained in one of the last episodes?

I'm actually not sure if I ever finished season 4. Anything after New Caprica was just meh, there's too much confusion.

Have you ever actually tried to use an LCARS interface? They look great on TV but are super clunky to use.

I agree, the Cylons invading New Caprica was an exceptionally good cliffhanger but then it turned very fast to shit after that. I also really hated how it was somehow super trivial for Starbucks to just fly back and from old Caprica (despite it supposedly being uninhabitable for humans after radioactive fallout) and finding BSG (even though it used random hops) all the time.

It sort of got interesting again with the last Cylon-models being unaware that they were cylons and having traveled sublight from Kolob or whatever, but then it dragged on with the never ending "trial" of Gaius and stuff.

I think you guys are mixing up the original bsg with the reboot

>there's too much confusion.
Oh you.

I thought it was given that we were talking about the reboot. The original, I tried watching the first episode but I couldn't finish it. I literally cringed when Ben Cartwright was wearing a togo and talking to toasters.

I'd say the emphasis of the show changes directions through the seasons. If you are watching BSG only to get the feel of s1 then you will have a very bad time in the course of seaons but if you are open for change it's still fun but very different. However, they still fucked up a lot of parts. The whole starbuck things is really tiresome and all. they should just had a g'ould snatch her pussy apart for greater justice...

Unlike capitalism . . .

AInt that a different series?

All systems are under attack of monarchy.
The question is, are they tough enough to survive?

no

Wow
Gopniks really live on 3267 AD

>there's too much confusion
I can't get no relief

Trump is actively stripping the executive branch of power in favor of Congress, state governments, and the people. He's not a king.

that's an HUD that can detect the crispiness of any chicken in the galaxy

Where was this screenshot taken that its 16x9?

Great math bro.

Most of it is already outdated or in development. Others are just theory because we're so hopelessly, ridiculously behind when it comes to energy production, we can't even muster the energy to test the damn thing.

Every single energy production or storage method we have has already been known and used sixty years ago, we only managed to optimize them ... very slightly.

bsg is for real men. star trek for nu-males.

I hated the ending

>angsty misery porn that was nothing more than soap opera in space peddled as sci-fi is for adults
Season 4 was garbage only a suicidal crossdressing emo faggot in his teens would appreciate and you know it.

I shun Wi-Fi because of BSG.

most of it is space magic not feasible technology. face it, we're never leaving this solar system in any meaningful way.

>Geordi, how many times have we told you not to lean on the touch control panels?

You can always install Rainmeter and use the LCARS skin

KEK

>TNG
shitty characters.
>picard:
a man in a position where he has to make quick decisions. gets bogged down by bullshit moral and ethical questions and endangers his crew constantly
>worf
a plank of wood who only exists to get his ass instantly kicked to prove that a new enemy is powerful
>deanna
incompetent ninny
>dr crush
feminist whore
>la forge
beta and cringe
>data
spock rip-off
>riker
no character nuance. either boring or asshole
>wesley
lmao

no networked systems though. the old man wouldn't allow it.

The ending was perfect and followed the story of the original series. That is, they destroyed their technology and started over because that is what their ancestors did when they fled Kobol (because technology had turned Kobol into a wasteland just like technology turned the Colonies into a wasteland) - "all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again". It could definitely have been explained better though.

hey fuck you man

I notice you didn't mention Tasha, I too agree she is the best

Because we let women and niggers join tech

Have you ever tried to use an LCARS? Because that's some good shit if you have.

Because you cannot change the laws of physics, user.
Face it, FTL propulsion ain't gonna happen.

It doesn't need to happen. Time dilation is a thing. The closer you travel to the speed of light, the less time passes for you.
