i'm thinking about experimenting by running about 4~8~16 servers. how should i go about executing this? 4~8~16 small individual laptop netbook tiny computers as individual dedicated servers 1 large desktop computer as an individual consolidated server
as for whether or not i can actually do this. it's sort of a "what came 1st the chicken or the egg" thing. i'd want to be ready before doing it. i need to be ready before doing it. ... you know ... if you have any questions or comments. feel free to make them.
having one big cluster of 'em for various purposes rather than only one would be neat, although that does mean having to repair multiple should they fuck up at some point i guess cluster idea still sounds neat, tho. go for it

interesting.
i would appreciate your comments and insight on this and these descisions.
bump what are you planning on using the server(s) for? is this for running a web server?

yeah i know that's what i was thinking. like i was thinking it'd be cool if i was rich and bought a lot of server clusters. then realized i could do that on a smaller scale with netbooks. basically. at the cost of more stuff going wrong. and stuff. yeah. clusters are awesome.
sort of everything and anything. experimentation. maybe web-server stuff. i may also experiment with different networks or alike 2 and maybe even more web servers. alike we seen with Jow Forums and 4channel; as unpopular as that is here. i don't know. again. sort of a chicken and the egg thing. i'd have to have it before actually using it and thus deciding what i'm using it for concretely. but here i am saying anything because i don't actually have it. haha. maybe web servers. too long; didn't read: experiments, i guess...

for context and before i get "oh you can't actually do it".
i actually did run extremely small and extremely experimental servers in the past.
they lagged out and under-performed constantly because the tech and power wasn't there.
i don't want to be in that sort of situation again.
that's why i'm planning ahead and asking about it right now before doing anything again and stuff now.

i know i act like a crazy person but i sort of want to do this more than anything. i should be able to do it with that determination.

that and i remember the "old" internet and 4 and Jow Forums and whatever always talking about how easy it was to do stuff. maybe even seeing that now a little bit. it's really encouraging to me.
