He is pretty chill that cassiver shit he got is interesting but really all you need is a good quality walkman with record to rip vinyl to tape and use as a analogue recording source for analoge synths and Modula stuff . actual tape decks and things like the dragon are not even worth fixing the belt on .

Only thing you need in a modern HiFi is a TV 5.1 HiFi box from the late 90s early 2000s with a 75khz CD line in (they made the CD line in only autistically so high because SACD was popular plug ya PC into it via that and power some big 70/80/90s speakers ya find for free the TV 5.1 should be free or like 60$ and then find a old broken record player belt driven not DD ya not a DJ fix belt put new head on. All up that's like a 0-50$ HiFi save all ya money to buy a awsome recordable walkman that could be like 0-800$ or skip tape if you wish and buy a 800$ korg DSD recorder and rip vinyl to that instead or just skip the portable recorder all together if you don't care about rare music and just download shit.

Audio is incredibly cheap people who spend over 100$ for playback even if they are audiophile is retarded ya can get speakers for free that sound as good as 20grand ones

One of better guys that doesn't go for whole audiophile scam.
Companies these days charge 3-4x more for same quality you could get back in the days, with so much improvement in technology and class D amps we should be on whole new level, yet if you want good amp in 2018 you have to overpay massively. We are failing as human race.

COMMAS MOTHERFUCKER EVER HEARD OF THEM

This.
I am a little perturbed by the fact he didn't mention any modern used amps/receivers that are (digital) some can be had for peanuts and are extremely powerful.
One part he got right was the speaker's but I use ancient off brand 40 year old 4 way floor standers and hd558 headphones with a cheap Sony 5.1 amp via toslink so I'm probably not his target audience with those videos.
That said I guess he could have mentioned hooking it up to a pc/mobile/laptop/whatever using aux jack but it's a no brainier at this point

Its because 99.99% of people use 320kbs spotify even in uber rich US and EU cities .

Honestly paying money for any audio product is retarded I got a set of headphones for 10$ with a broken jack from a dead mans estate sale online retail they are 70$ quality wise they sound better than 500$ senhisser shit

The audio pricing is fucked literally research and spend more on a fast food meal and ya will be OK

My music collection is mostly in 320kbps mp3, i grew up during cassette period and had chance to listen to vinyls but it's unpractical and there is barely any difference. If i would listen to any of those formats as much as i listen to mp3s they would probably be useless by now.
However i have older technics integrated amp which i rebuild with mx50 amp because STK module burned out and it sounds really good. Cost was about 40$ for kit and heatsinks, case and transformer was reused from technics, i used same transistors as most older yamaha amps and get a bit less power due to weaker transformer but it sounds amazing when compared to newer receiver&s. Most manufacturers are just looking how to squeeze more money from people that don't know much about audio.

Nothing wrong with mp3 still sounds good on good gear but my point is people could improve quality for free with higher bitrate yet they don't so why would they bother caring what speakers they use. The audio market is 100% fashion and aesthetics now it has the technical depth of some clothing brand for skateboarders so price is meaningless even in second hand market

Ya don't have to redownload ya collection bro but try a 4gig flac vinyl rip download or wave. Master I think you really should

Well 320kpbs mp3 sounds really good imho. When doing blind test i can't even notice difference between flac/wav and 320kbps mp3 unless i really try to. Difference is barely noticeable, but if you have bad set of speaker or amplifier obviously everything will sound bad.
I stopped listening to what people say since even tube amps don't sound good to me, i would rather take good class ab or d amp. Even cheap amps have almost no harmonic distortion when listening at lower levels.

/g doesn't have ourguys, /pol
/g users can stand on their own
fuck off to your containment board

I'm guessing you just compared like 1200kbs flac to mp3 desu

You realize a good FM transition is effectively 600-800kbs and literally double the data of ya small dl's do you have any local radio stations that play vinyl?

Not doubting ya perception just pointing out.. Like I assume you think FM is trash even thou it isn't

Techmoan is everything we should aspire to be, a man enjoying his best years indulging in his peculiar English eccentricities while looking incredibly fashionable

Audiophiles are autistic. They take the law of diminishing returns and they give it steroids.

>FM is effectively 600-800kbs
Yeah and 510-710 'kbs' of that is noise.

>playing vinyl or cassette or CD
>2018

I don't see the issue...

Pretty much his definition of HiFi means vintage shit that isn't too overpriced or pure snake oil

He barely understands most things he's reviewing.
>doesn't go for whole audiophile scam.
Watch his videos again.

He isn't full retard mode, without expensive cables, gold fuses, power conditioners or even changing room layout just to get a bit better response.

Just because he isn't the worst doesn't mean he's good
His videos are mainly good because he is very careful about the production

What the fuck is that mad scientist looking thing at the top? Looks like it's a nixie tube clock but it's way too big.

How did he lose his sense of smell/taste? Is that why he's an audiophile? I guess the alternative is becoming saladfingers and stroking rusty spoons

Nice Thorens you got there.
What kinda mods have you done?
I have a TD-166 MkII in stock condition I'm thinking about giving some love.

i like him, i especially like that he isnt a tryhard and is just like "yea theres the motherboard with a bunch of chips and stuff on it, im sure someone in the comments knows all about that but i havent got a clue so lets move on to what the machine actually does"

Butt hat's exactly what he's doing. It's just that you are eve less knowledgeable on the topic than he is so you don't notice.

McIntosh MC275, says on it

obligatory

He didn't say he doesn't you retard.

What are Jow Forums's approved YT channels?

I think he mentioned one time having sinus lesions or something.

linux tech tips

>its an audiofool scam because I cant afford it
>its just a digital signal either way
>this ancient amp and 30 yearold speakers are "good enough"
>muh headphones

>youtube
not gonna make it

He is putting together a half decent cheap hifi the right way. A combination of 2nd hand parts and model-end clearance priced items.
In my mini hifi, the only thing that was full price was the amp. The speakers were a black friday special, and the sub and turntable are 2nd hand.

>muh diminishing returns!

Electroboom

Can't say that for speakers but old amps are usually pretty good for the price you pay. In the 80s they paid more attention to quality instead of adding as many features as possible.

>analogue modulation
>bitrate

Attached: marke.png (657x1123, 38K)

They were adding many features, even more than some amps today have. But attention to quality was way better, it was all about customers experience.

the factories that where making the best speaker Kevlar shut down in the early 90s idiot.

literally the like 250,000$ speakers dont have materials that good.

the reason is CD and MP3 it droped every ones standards and there was no longer a market to make quality speakers and still isnt all the brands that pretend to be high quality or even studio shit are all larping beacuse nun of them have the $ to make their own materials no matter how high price they charge.

focal make special fiberglass based speaker themself thou. thats about it.

a audio scientist made that comparison you idiot do you not know what "comparable" means. the point stands thou a good FM signal is better than the best MP3.

and if you say no that's bullshit... that cant be true they charge like 9-10/20grand of course they can afford to make custom shit. stop for a second and realise how many people buy that shit.

like literally sub 4digits. even for massive brands like JBL.

while in the 70/80s there was like millions of speakers being sold and made at that quality a month because people still cared and it hadn't gone digital.

I have a 12" sub with a kevlar cone. Doesn't sound any better than my paper cone 18".
