the porn stache?

Why is systemd bad?

He just destroyed his reputation

Attached: poettering(2).png (875x1666, 170K)

He's extremely user focused.
His whole channel is from the perspective of, and geared towards, a PERSONAL COMPUTER USER.
Not a programmer or engineer, not even a server administrator, but a user of a personal computer.

I get what you're saying, but wouldn't a normal user use ubuntu or mint?

He meant "advanced user", not "normie user"

Gentoo is still much better and has openrc as default

what a drooling fucking retard

This.

The fact that Luke is able to teach this shit so well is because he's a Ph.D. candidate, not because he's actually well-informed. The fact that he's able to excel using the hardware and software that he uses is proof that GNU/Linux is super easy to learn, not because he's well-informed. He probably settled on Arch because he doesn't give a fuck about systemd vulnerabilities and would rather jerk off into a groff document to write his thesis instead.

What's the channel? I've never heard of him.

How new are you lol

Luke smith

Not much desu, though I only lurk from month to month when I have nothing to do at all. Things change too quickly every year so I it's hard to catch up to some stuff like YouTube channels. So can you link it?

Attached: depositphotos-misc-spoonfeeding2_orig.png (597x366, 306K)

please don't do this

'cause he's a faggot

I think he meant Arch is the best distro for learning Linux, not overall. Unlike Ubuntu or Mint, Arch requires the user to know what they are doing. As the user runs into problems, they will search for answers and learn.

Arch is far from being good for an advanced user, hell, even non-veterans recognize other distros do better on the desktop

That description suits more to Debian

Get over it, Arch is the best, no one cares about systemd autism

No one cares about Arch, is shit, fuck off with the shilling

>He doesn't use arch

I use arch btw

I care xD

>Another shill thread about this guy.
Give it a rest mate.

>Lennart Pöttering
>University of Hamburg
>NSA

I wonder why systemd always has some kind of remote execution vulnerabilities

>no one cares about malware and spyware
if there's one nigger i want to shoot, it'd be you

>systemd

If every code would be so fervently and autistically meticulous scrutinized as systemd's, we wouldve had AI by now.

He would agree with you about systemd, he had a whole rant about it in one of his videos. I think the dude just loves arch

>luke

>He would agree with you about systemd
Then why not Void?

I hate this guy so much.

this
you guys made me hate him

Who is this guy and why should I care? I've seen his ugly mug all over Jow Forums for the past couple weeks, but my mentality has always been a sort of, "I don't just follow what other people do." Aka, I don't usually like what other people have to say, but I'll make an exception for right now if some user that likes to ride his dick will sell it to me.
Who is he? What's his story? What does he have to say? Where would I go listen to this guy?

Pol tier linux nut

his channel uses Jow Forums memes to attract viewers. cringey outside of Jow Forums

t. ranny

because arch is so great that even with the huge down side of the systemd bullshit it's still great

>am special XD

Use the forth, luke

he takes a controversial topic and makes a video on it supporting the dumbest possible stance
retards share his videos to get some replies (Achievement unlocked: (You))
haters and dicksuckers join the thread. OP gets attention and Luke gets ad revenue
he can now support his failed PhD studies. that's all he does nowadays.

He tried Void but ithad no packages

Void has tons of packages, I use it everyday

It's not. Welcome to Jow Forums, the land of supreme autism and stupidity.

hi luke

Never had any problem with systemd on my servers and workstations. It made my life earlier. Wouldn't give it away.

He can fuck right off. Debian's the best distro, always has been.

poeterring please

pot got 900% destroyed

Luke is a brainlet who can't into Gentoo.

>It made my life earlier.
whut

he doesnt have anti-systemd autism

>his failed PhD studies
What is it that this pedo is failing at ?

no, he said Arch is best at: long term system maintenance aka 'general use'

Fuck off already you bald faggot.

redpilled
fuck off Luke

His reasons were:

>Arch has a very wide range of packages

>Arch uses the most recent version of software

>Arch install process gives the user insight on how the system is set up.

I kind of agree the Arch is probably the best distro for those who want to venture outside of everything-out-of-the-box distros like Ubuntu.

If you want maximum control on the other hand, I'd say Gentoo/NixOS/GuixSD

its just some non-programmer showcasing minimal linux applications and what the use cases are.
he also throws in Jow Forums memes.
basically an introduction to linux minimalism for brainlets who cant read manpages.

dependency chain

Yeah I'm switching to it soon and I was worried it didnt have certain packages I would want but it's like missing 2, which are both on github so I can just write a template file and build those motherfuckers from source.

Sorry for the bloated reply but also forgot to mention:
I think the main packages void is "missing" are ones for servers. That's probably a pretty big reason why debian has so many packages in the standard repos and void has like a 8th of the packages

Yeah I think you're right. Arch is kind of a vetting process as people learn more in detail about linux. Although I would wager Debian Sid via chroot install would have the same effect as Arch

Imagine using literal suicide linux

systemd bad

Attached: 8yvcqurvzun11[1].jpg (490x586, 19K)

>His reasons were:
>>Arch has a very wide range of packages
now, consider for every package the thing below is true
>>Arch uses the most recent version of software
not every open source project has the same policy to commit software to the github branch. If Arch doesn't track "releases" that's more than often not a good thing since it's experimental software.
>>Arch install process gives the user insight on how the system is set up.
No it doesn't. The user wasn't given a security tutorial, you are just installing shit you wanted to have by default.
And when you finally are set up, shit doesn't work.
Like poettery.

It's a project that if successful will kill compatibility with alternatives. Any vulnerabilities it has will be held by nearly all systems.

systemd isn't even the main reason why it sucks
Not even just that, the packages that are missing are packages you don't want to maintain for basic CVE security.
Using a distro so bad maintained misses the point of avoiding systemd. Is not more secure nor even "faster" or bugfree than Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat or CentOS.

He did it for the upcummies

as a retard with a personal void server (hosting a small website and minecraft server and want to set up email) can you give some examples

>Don't tell people about muh super secret YouTube personality.

systemd is good. Like really good. It provides a fuckton of useful features. However it's riddled with vulnerabilities and it's immensely complex. In the end it causes more problems than it solves. This kind of software quality may be acceptable for something like PulseAudio, which I consider to be a great piece of software for the features it provides, but it has some complex and practically undocumented behavior. For an init system I wouldn't want to have such inconsistencies.

nnn is only on ARM or the debug repos. OpenJFX is nowhere to be seen. There's no x86_64 OpenJDK JRE8.

I had fewer problems with arch than ubuntu switched 2 years ago and I still run the same install

systemd bad

>s󠀀oyboy

I agree with him overall, honestly. There's a lot of memes about Arch that are generally untrue and its userbase can be obnoxious at times, but, when it comes down to it, I do think it's one of the better distros out there, because of how easy and simple everything is. Arch was actually my second distro after Ubuntu and I felt like I learned far more with Arch in a much shorter time frame. I'm on Void these days, but Arch made it very easy for me to learn everything about my system, keep track of it, and I could then more easily learn other distros far faster thanks to what I learned on Arch.

Attached: 1545697330537.png (800x585, 145K)

I don't really agree with the video. I don't think I've learned a lot from my arch installation, although I like the system.
After distrohopping for a while I finally settled on Manjaro. It just works but has all the benefits of arch.
Using a stable system is probably much better for learning linux, then copy pasting half of the arch wiki

plz luke put this on your channel header

use what works for you, other's opinions are not that important

>Using a stable system is probably much better for learning linux, then copy pasting half of the arch wiki
The Arch installation guide seems to be written in a way that makes "copy pasting" quite useless, except for the trivial stuff.

The Arch is not stable meme. Plz, if Arch was unstable then it would not be as insanely popular as it is. It is NOT unstable, core packages go through a 'testing' repo for several weeks before they are released.

BASED Luke can't stop making shill threads of himself on Jow Forums everyday
