Have you ever received a DMCA notice? What was it for?

They wanted me to pay 1800€ and sign something that I will never use bittorrent again. I answered with my lawyer claiming I dindu nuffin. Never heard from these guys again. Most of the time something like this only happens when downloading porn. At least in Eumerica.

Yep, downloading Skyrim and fallout 3.

Ask for them to prove it was actually YOU that did it. They never can. It could have litteraly been anyone if you have a open network like a guest network.

It's like drugs. Buying drugs will get you a slap on the wrist, but actual distribution of drugs (pirated content) is a whole other game. Just don't seed bullshit or super popular shit to 500gb+ and you will be fine.

I have pirated over 5 TiB of content over unencrypted connections for years with public trackers and have never once gotten a DMCA notice.

>Buying drugs will get you a slap on the wrist,

In Florida (where I live) one ounce of pot will land you in prison up to 5 years and is an automatic felony, meaning you will likely never get to vote or secure an actual career for the rest of your life. In many states in the south possession of one adderall pill is an auto felony, no drug diversion options. Not exactly a slap on the wrist. American drug laws are archaic.

That sure sounds like a shithole. I don't think people should do drugs or that they should be legal, but let's be real here, you don't smoke weed because your life is all dandy and fine. I would rather have people smoke weed and risk a 10-50€ fine (based Europe) for possesion than be addicted to whatever the latest meme antidepresants are being pushed onto teenagers.

Forced encryption, simple as that. Cheers mate.

But I leave the encryption optional.

In Spain delivering an IP is not enough prove to demonstrate that certain person was behind it.

For downloading and uploading and linking to pictures of anime girls without owning the rights to those girls. This is piracy and illegal.

In college I got one for torrenting Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

I use Chinese proxies now.

It isn't enough to prove anything anywhere

>It could have litteraly been anyone if you have a open network like a guest network.
"These terms and conditions that you have read and agreed to say that you bear all responsibility for what guests may do on your network. Now take a deep breath and learn these easy tips on how not to drop the soap."

>implying I read them
>implying I agreed with them
>implying there is a sure way to prevent users from connecting to a P2P swarm aside from completely cutting them off of internet
>implying this would be enforceable even in EU
Oi, do you have a loicense for dat shitpost m8?

I used to use to just configure a proxy in deluge and one time it went down for a couple of hours and I got 5/6 strikes or w/e they call it in that short time frame. It was pretty much every single normie shit torrent I was seeding at the time. It was surprising even though I live in the US. Then I bit the bullet and took the time to write the scripts to have deluge run in a split VPN with kill switch so that wouldn't happen again.

My VPN provider forwarded me a DMCA for torrenting Cloverfield Lane (never even watched it). They said to not do that again or my account would be locked. That happened about 5 more times before I stopped paying for it.
They were bros.

No because I'm not a public tracker pleb

I got my entire youtube account deleted in 2008 for uploading youtube poops that featured AVGN clips

What provider?

Hows your first week on private trackers going?

Should have appealed it. Parody is fair use.

I sent one once for the hell of it after some Japanese fuck was taking my instagram pictures, adding a watermark, and trying to sell them.

I get a few every year, never all that specific, from my ISP. I throw them in the trash.

Once, ignored it and never heard from them.

Torrented a few games on my DO droplet

Edgy boomer.

I did the same to some pajeet using my photography on his website as his own. He didn't try to make money off of it though but I didn't want my work associated with a pajeet

My ISP has a policy where unless they have a legit court signed request for information, or the feds are knocking down their doors, they don't give a fuck what I do.

They usually forward me a copy of the notice and then we both delete it. No calls, no internet lockdown, no service cancellations.
