Based revaluation OP. Now install Debian. Version 10 will be released soon.

You get what you fucking deserve you stupid mong.

>microtransactions in an operating system
holy shit you can't make this up

use mpv
you don't need codecs. it works right out of the box

Attached: how to rotate screen for optimal fapping-[00.00.000-00.06.300].webm (1092x614, 2.7M)

had to do it on fedora for mp3 codec. I can believe it.

Shit, how much did you pay to add rpmfusion to your fedora install?

real men use CentOS

You were scammed.

No you didn't, you lying turd
T. Used fedora for a while and installed MP3 codecs

learn to download a media player you mongoloid.

>MPV
>MPC-HC
>even VLC

So entitled
Somebody built a solution you need, why is it wrong that they're compensated for it?

im not going to stay with this bullshit system and just fix ONE MORE problem, waiting for others to come

>paying to use ffmpeg

Attached: 1402702624795.png (300x297, 94K)

we don't know the codec.
OP, which is it?

Holy shit you have to pay for codecs on Linux now? Free codecs, free os, free games, Windows4life

Libavcodec supports HEVC.

Think about it. Playing common video formats is a function that came included with your PC for the past 20 years. It's a feature included with game consoles and set top boxes too. Why are we expected to sit silently by and pay up when they decide to sell it as a separate feature?

> It's a feature included with game consoles
PS4, Switch, and my XboxOne can't play like half of the videos I have in my library, and NONE of them support subtitles. Windows+VLC plays them all with subs. My gf has shitty english so subs are a must.

If it's the same codec we've had for free in the past, I agree.

hevc

lol, you mean YOU dont know the codec, nor what youre really talking about desu.

Doesn't ffmpeg support HEVC?

Why are so many people on Fedora?

Yes. It has for years.

Nice larp, guy

Doesn't VLC also support it?

So the point stands.
>paying for this

Pretty sure, VLC uses ffmpeg like everyone with half a brain so yeah.

Oh I totally agree. It's retarded.

>OP is a fucking retard and downloads some shitty trialware
>WTF FUCK MY OS
Kill yourself moron.

>mpv
>works right out of the box
That's a lie and you know it

it's the native windows media player kek

Microsoft didn't add the royalties it has to pay to use HEVC into the cost of windows 10, hence the microtransaction.
I don't blame Microsoft, freeware can implement a better HEVC decoder and the owners of HEVC don't deserve a dime for that. Its more "Fuck stupid codec liscenses" than "fuck Microsoft" in this face

yeah that guys dumb too but so is op.

It does though. If you want some autistic configuration, you're more than welcome to do that on your own.

just use mpv

>codecs cost money
No shits nigger. No one want to be sue that's why many Linux distros doesn't even include basic codecs like mp3 out of the box

>ms
MS doesn't own HEVC.
Everyone keeps telling you people to use royalty free encodings.

werks on my machine

>Version 10 will be released soon.
Can't wait.
Can't wait.
Can't wait.
Can't wait.
When a new Debian stable version gets released, the best day of 2 years for a Debian user.

What am I doing with my life >_>

It's the best Linux experience.

What DE? Looks pretty comfy

KDE on Wayland doesn't have virtual desktops any more. Not sure if that's just a temporary thing

Voice of reason in a sea of retards

It should. Update plasma.
community.kde.org/Plasma/Wayland_Showstoppers#Virtual_Desktops

it is comfy desu

>voice of reason in Jow Forums

There once was a tripfag called voice of reason. He was anything but.
Sometimes I like to be nice.

XFCE can't middle-click taskbar items to open a new instance, that's what made me switch to KDE desu

>DE
>xfce
MA NIGGA

Attached: b2f.jpg (680x447, 26K)

Its over anons.... the era of PCs is over. Now we have corporate computers.

Cool! It can do it again.

1. Pager plasmoid doesn't work?? It just shows a black box instead of my desktops, and, has zero width when added to my main taskbar panel

2. Virtual desktop settings disappear when closing/reopening KDE settings (even if ctrl+f1 / f2 work etc)

3. Lost the option to change desktops by scrolling on background(?)

Using debian buster... all up-to-date as far as the repos go...

>debian
Well shit there's your problem. Wayland is bleeding edge. It'll take forever for you to get a decent experience on debian.

*puffs* PotPlayer nigga

haha yes debian stable is always 2+ years old and all debians are slow during freeze.

But it's not freeze yet, Buster is pretty up-to-date:

libwayland-client0 1.16.0-1
qtwayland5 5.11.2-3
linux-image-amd64 4.18.0-3
plasma-desktop 5.14.3-1

I guess Qt5.12 will help a little bit when that's packaged.. although i don't know if that changed wayland stuff at all

I'm open to using a more desktop-oriented distro if it actually fixed this bug.
- Are your package versions much newer?
- Does the virtual desktop pager plasmoid work for you on your distro?
- Are the virtual desktop settings preserved when you check them again?

Linux wins again, WINTARD

Install Gentoo. Or at least use mpv.

Is Debian the best distro?

Oh I can't really help you there since I don't actually use KDE myself. Given the relatively rapid rate of Wayland development, I would imagine being behind even a few minor versions may cause issues.

>released soon.
You mean next October or November.

Because before, you paid $200 for a copy of windows.
The original xbox bundled the licence to play DVD's into the cost of the DVD remote
When windows 10 gets pushed for free, or sold for pennies, microsoft doesn't wanna have to spend $1 on every codec you might want to play like in past versions of windows. They could then, because they could afford to set aside $20 of the sale price for a bunch of codecs, but not anymore.
Either play with a free software decoder, convert it with FFMPEG, or pay up

lol no you don't
lame is free

far from it. it has systemd garbage. devuan instead.
