Monitor mounts. Are they worth it or nah?
I'm looking at the Amazon basics for 100 bucks, but I honestly can't tell the difference between it and the pole ones for $25.
Monitor mounts. Are they worth it or nah?
>Are they worth it or nah?
Yes if you have a specific need for them.
Otherwise, no. Spend your money on something else
worth only if the monitor has a shit stand that makes it hard to raise it up to eye level for muh ero
I've got a tiny fuck desk and my monitor barely fits with a tenkeyless board.
The monitor and stand are super boss, but fucking huge.
Anybody know if there is just like... something that clips onto the base of the stand to connect to the desk or something? So that it's farther back and off the desk?
arm mounts are pretty dope.
isn't it supposed to be below eye level
Best way to increase your usable desktop space is with a monitor arm.
I have my large 4k monitor wall mounted and my smaller 27" gaming panel on a gas-spring arm.
if it's relatively new you should be able to just remove the base and use a wall mount like you would for a tv
they're worth it if you need them, just don't cheap out on the mount and the desk you're mounting it to
The single arm ones are mostly useless unless you want to free up desk space at the expense of clearance around the desk, they're not much more extendable from an out-of-the-box mount from a good monitor.
If you need to hook up more than 1 monitor at varying heights it starts to make more sense, though if you want to hook things up at different heights you're better off getting a pole because normal swivel ones aren't that much higher than a out-of-the-box mount.
My monitors have great stands but they've used up quite a lot of desk space. It looks a lot cleaner and makes you really flexible if you ever need to get your monitors in a different position like pivoting or similar. I've seen countless poorfags having those cardboard tables - they'll get destroyed by a dual or more monitor arm.
oof
I got a 20 buck one to attach a monitor to the wall. It has very simple adjustments, but it's solid.
I bought a silverstone arm two for my 2 27" because although the stands were good, they did take up a considerable amount of desk space.
The arm is like $200 but it's worth it if you like a more organised look on your desk. There's many cheaper alternatives that work as just as good.
The amazon basics is a rebranded arm of a very reputable brand so it'll definitely last you for ages. Also it's a lot more flexible obviously while also providing a big, solid mounting stand compared to the cheaper pole ones.
only if you attach your shit to the wall - it's sturdier that way. The ones that attach 'em to the desk are nearly worthless. I mean - you get to save some space, but that's about it.
> t. got a desk-mounted one in the office, and a wall-mounted one at home.
>very reputable
That's pretty inconsistent in my experience.
>one mount for three monitors
You asked for this
The difference is that the amazonbasics arm is a real arm; it's designed so you can move the monitor around as needed.
The $25 cheap arms are used to hold a single small monitor in a fixed location; something like a side monitor at the edge of your desk.
maybe he means top edge level but either his monitor is tiny or he's really tall
I just put both my monitors(2 diff computers) on these cheap amazon arm mounts.

No complaints so far beyond the first articulation point(closest to the desk, the one that effectively just swings left or right to give you more distance) is tight as fuck, and requires me to stand over the mount and kinda un-wind it while holding the back. As far as i can tell theres no way of loosening that to make it easier.
Oh, and you'll definitely want to put some foam padding on the points that attach to your desk or it'll mark it the fuck up. Still, $60 for 2 separate mounts that actually have a tension spring(so i can raise and lower. Most cheap ones use hinges that requires you to slide the entire mount up a poll to adjust that) i'm happy.
This needs to be on the next gore thread.
Thinking of getting something like this for a 32" monitor. I would just use the normal stand that comes with the monitor but I need something that can be easily stored in a carrying case.
Yeah they're worth it. The amazon basic one is really good and priced fairly.
