Software isn't infallible, especially the closer you get to metal.

It tries to do everything to not have that happen. At most, if dual booting from the same drive for example, it'll make everything homogenous which might wipe your other boots. Otherwise, it would rather present a borked reset over nuking the entire drive.

Considering OP simply deleted the mount point for the file system and removed windows bootloader id say that it's equally easy to have something fuck up in both OS, Linux just let's you shove your arm into the running engine to do this if you want.
