Iirc the build is 14.2, based on Android 7.1, so you'll be on Nougat and (with gapps) can have app updates again.

some app developers refuse to support older operating systems, either to due to needed hardware/functions or just laziness in not wanting to deal with why their software won't work properly on older devices.

There's a huge number of unofficial ports on XDA Forums as well.
It'd be worth it in the long run imo: TWRP, Lineage, gapps and F Droid is incredibly comfy. Only thing iirc there's no official way to root LG phones so you might need a root app, avoid the shady ones.

Rooting is the most annoying part, I just used some shady one click root app which gave me su over adb, so I could then flash TWRP.
Actually ended up giving it to my mum as her first smartphone, she really likes it.

Sorry, wrong device, you've got a G3 not a G3S so you'll want the install guide for d855 not jag3gds, they're pretty much the same though.
Just be sure to get the right TWRP and ROM for your device, they won't work otherwise.
